  1. I guess it depends on what is considered an "Average" player. When I first signed up just under a month ago (having never played Live), the AH prices definitely gave me the impression that my first character had better be some sort of farmer.
  2. IME, I think the surprise of it and not having any time to come to deal with it before it changes like this makes it all the more acrimonious, but I can't really objectively measure that.
  3. Don't think I ever saw it myself, either, but I figure it's safe to take Jimmy at his word. 😄
  4. Hey, you never know. I've seen code so tightly-coupled it made a grown man want to cry... (I settled for day-drinking instead!)
  5. That's exactly what I meant by "it's telling:" they made the decision internally and anticipated the pushback they're getting. They ducked it and, now that it's going live, it's hitting harder.
  6. To be fair s/he might not: I'm new here myself, and would never have known about it, except that I made the mistake of going to r/cityofheroes in my newbie enthusiasm. 😄
  7. The reasons are obvious, yes, but you need to read further into the thread. The exploit could have been fixed without the nerf. They chose to go ahead with that, too, for "game health" reasons.
  8. You're wrong, or at least misunderstanding. It was hidden BEFORE this thread, from the beta patch notes. "The following change was omitted from the beta patch notes due to a related exploit:" and combined with the dev response in this thread that admits that the exploit could have been fixed without the nerf, means it could have been in the beta notes with no mention of the exploit. I'm annoyed by it, as a newer player who counts on my farmer to outfit my alts, but I really don't have any interest in banging on about it like others do. I said my piece and reported my bug. So lets not get catty, shall we?
  9. /altinvite (no name) returns the message "try /sgi <Player Name> (Command Synonyms: /sgi, /sginvite)", but if you try to use /sgi on an alt, you get a "not online" message (obviously). Minor bug, but was a bit confusing for me as a newbie.
  10. Agreed, but on the other hand, they admitted they could have fixed the exploit without the wider nerf, but felt it was "unhealthy for the game" anyway. So they could have kept the exploit under their hat and just announced the wider nerf.
  11. On a related question, is it intended that the existing AE farms no longer work? "MADoorInvalid" error pops up trying to enter.
  12. Farmers are less of an issue than flippers, who ware untouched, and those who already have billions of inf in their mailboxes benefit from it. I'm less than a week into my first 50 (yes, my farmer). Edit: So out of curiosity, is there any point to the "No XP While Exemplaring" setting now?
  13. Not a fan of the Inf change either, and the fact that the incoming nerf was stealthed is telling.
  14. I don't know if "too hard" is quite the right description, but the first 10-20 levels are such a slog, it almost feels necessary to join DFB runs rather than play the content.
  15. Yeah, I managed to unlock my alpha slot. Now I'm just trying to figure out if there's a soloable way to gather the ingredients I need. 😄
  16. Thanks, that helps. It looks like as-built, lunge and barb swipe are only about 21%, so it makes sense.
  17. Hey @FourSpeed! Thanks to your guide, I'm now a newly minted 50. I've got most of my IOs (still waiting on some bids for two of the LOGs and a few hours to run tips for the LOG 7.5s), and built according to your 50 build (though it's closer to 140M so far now 😞. Not your error, but ouchie ) and I just had a quick question: I decided to try #11612 on +4/x1 just to see how well I can do before I dive in headfirst, and I noticed that against the Security bosses, I am whiffing a whole lot, even with Cross Punch. Is that normal or am I screwing something up, do you think?
  18. I ain't too proud... @Penumbra Faust
  19. Yeah, it was more the boss buff that had me wondering. I'm still working my way up that high and figuring things out. I really appreciate the time you put into the build, and to responding. I'm not really out to be an Uber-farmer. I'm just a newbie who needed a way to finance my altaholism until I find my niche, and this looks like it's just what I needed. So thank you for this.
  20. It was in yesterday's Beta Patch Notes. I'm still new, so I'm not sure when those will hit live (or if they already have, being greentext) but AE Damage Fix Fixed several issues that caused custom critters in Architect Entertainment to deal damage that's inconsistent with their non-custom counterparts Generally all enemies were dealing less damage than they should apart from ranged minions, this has now been corrected See the tables below for the impact of enemies at level 20, 50, and 54 Level 20 Melee Damage Change Ranged Damage Change Minion +12% -4% Lieutenant +12% +1% Boss -10% -32% Elite Boss No Change No Change AV No Change No Change Level 50 Melee Damage Change Ranged Damage Change Minion +12% -4% Lieutenant +12% +1% Boss +44% +8% Elite Boss +29% +8% AV +82% +47% Level 54 Melee Damage Change Ranged Damage Change Minion +12% -4% Lieutenant +12% +1% Boss +51% +13% Elite Boss +29% +8% AV +95% +58%
  21. It does help a lot, thank you. One last dumb question: do tips drop in AE as well or should I be venturing out into the city to try and get them? Edit: Make that two: is the new buff to AE mob damage going to give the build any problems (I'm still in phase I grinding levels up)
  22. I recently rolled up a DB Stalker, a curmudgeonly but ultimately good-hearted scoundrel on Everlasting, that I lovingly dubbed "Jumpin Jack Slash",
  23. Sorry for the necromantic noobishness, but where can I find more information about "Tip Missions" for the merits I'll need for phase II?
