    Best Brute

4 years is a leeeeetle late, yeah
  2. Super Reflexes Pros: Soft Cap all positional defenses Scaling Resistance % to all damage types (except Psychic? It's not listed in COD) Defense debuff resistance. Slow debuff resistance. +Recharge Cons: No Taunt Aura (This is wrong, your taunt aura is in Evasion) No Damage powers No Heal Click Mez Protection My thoughts: SR's scaling resists means the only time you *should* be dropping is from a OHKO at full health. SR may be better on Tankers because of the higher caps, but SR Brutes can reach the same resistance numbers as other Brutes so getting dropped on +4x8 is more likely a player problem than a set problem. That doesn't mean that said player can't have less problems on a /Rad over an /SR - but that's on the driver not the vehicle. And yeah, I would absolutely take SR over Rad against all content if your goal is to outlast your opponents. However Rad can increase kill speed which is something SR can't do, so it depends on what you want your Brute to do. SR is "less busy". SR is stronger on SOs. SR IO slotting is more flexible because it only has to chase Resistance bonuses through sets. I totally get if someone doesn't find those benefits appealing, different strokes for different folks, but mostly what I see from your evaluations is for farming which is a very specific niche about fighting beyond the aggro cap trying to kill as many mobs as fast as possible before they kill you - which, yes, /Rad and /Fire both increase kill speed, have easily capped resistances, and have heals. That's super in their wheelhouse. Against harder hitting Bosses, EBs, and AVs Rad and Fire no longer have a leg up, and resist sets will fall before SR Unless those OHKOs get you, of course
  3. If you don't have a fully IO'd build then take it. It'll come in handy at times! Especially if you are the lead tank and dying and losing aggro will become a cascade failure - you're Super Reflexes, hit Taunt then stand there and heal, it's a viable strategy even on SOs!
  4. My main on Live was an Illusion/Forcefield controller, both sets being characterized as "hard light" holographic projections. I honestly feel that Spectral Terror is perhaps the only "trickery" illusion power besides the stealth powers. However if you've already played an ill/time maybe pass on that A defender with either Forcefield or Sonic as a primary would be my pick. I know you can change Sonic Blast animations to not be shouts, not sure about Sonic Resonance. As for secondary - Energy blast, the aforementioned Sonic blast, or Psychic blast would be my picks. Both Sonic and Psychic have alternate "fire from hands" animations and both look great recolored to what you want Personally, with your criteria, I would probably try a Sonic/Psi blast Defender. Thematically can all be light based powers, -res, knockback, intangible, and an AoE hold (mag 2) in Liquefy give you some control tools along with your great teammate buffs, and Psychic blast gets you a sleep, more KB, and disorients as well
  5. So I've always wanted to try this combo, but never got around to it. Today I had a concept that fit this but then it turned into a Stone/Shield Stalker instead. So while I level that guy I thought I'd put the question to all of you: Which AT is your favorite to put this potent 'porting combo on?
  6. Pretty sure Ston's Super Strength runs used Rage so Super Strength with the crash is one of the highest performing sets in those tests
  7. That doesn't seem very sporting /fezzic
  8. Oooooh, I hadn't even considered TW/Nin I like the idea of a sneak attack with a 10 foot long, 3 foot wide sword!
  9. Ninjitsu for Crit from Stealth
  10. ....SR is useless? What on earth?
  11. If you do run with a lvl 50 team for a bit be aware that the level 50 generic IO recipes you may get as drops sell for over 100k inf at a normal vendor, while they may sell for next to nothing on the Auction House
  12. I would love love love a Rularuu MM set. The creature designs are fun and should be seen more!
  13. Clearly I am in the wrong timeline!
  14. They don't. You awarded yourself the badge one day and anyone who questions it gets a letter that tells them the exact date and time of their death signed by your future self Those that question again get a selfie of your future self standing over the questioner's corpse with a caption that reads, "Wish you weren't here!"
  15. You play MA/Stone so you can perform Eagle's Claw while in Granite form
  16. Check out this SpinesFire build posted last month:
  17. Multistrike, Maelstrom's Fury and Detonation? 3 slot Aegis? You were clearly building wirh Fire Defense and Fire Resistance as your only priority. I'd say cost as well but you 3 slotted Armageddon in Burn soooo.... Bad news: You probably shouldn't chase Fire Resistance, you should be able to cap that with just Fire Armor Good news: Building for Fire Defense (on a Fire Farmer) is actually more viable now as Fire Attacks do -def, so stacking more defense is good. The caveat to that is outside of Fire Farms fire def is nowhere near as helpful as Melee defense (for Brutes) and other positional defenses.

    Escrima Sticks?

What are you talking about? Nightwing is clearly a crossbow wielding DP/Invul Sentinel: https://m.webtoons.com/en/slice-of-life/batman-wayne-family-adventures/s2-ep-63-opposite-day/viewer?title_no=3180&episode_no=63
  19. Speed Boost also helps your pets' endurance recovery, which can be extra helpful for pets that don't get in melee range for Transference
  20. With Ninjas having lower resist values they tend to pair best with secondaries that buff their defense or debuff enemy to-hit. Forcefield, Cold, Dark, Storm, Traps, Time, Rad, and Trick Arrow. *and Empathy, but that's definitely a lot of Fortitude spam
  21. Well reasoned and very true to my play experience as well. I appreciate your insight, @tidge
  22. Instead of searching for the sets in the search bar there's the categories in the main AH window. You want Enhancements>IOs>Attuned IIRC It'll then list all the set types (Ranged, Taunt, Defense, etc) and each individual set under those. The Auction House automatically converts regular set IOs that are for sale into attuned IOs when you purchase this way, so when you put a bid in on an Attuned Force Feedback +Recharge IO you are bidding for the lowest price of all the FFR IOs listed no matter their level (which is nice as lower level IOs cost less to craft than level 50s and sellers are often willing to sell those for less)
  23. Surely Blasters and Scrappers are higher in the list than Doms! Doms only just recently got access to Illusion/Flash the biggest suicide button in the game
  24. The original design of Dominators was from when you couldn't be a controller on Redside, Brutes were more fragile and had less aggro management than Tankers, and Stalkers were only critting from Hide. So yes, they filled the role of keeping the Brute alive and supplemented the non-burst damage of Stalkers. Definitely a support role first, damage AT second. These days? Domination still gives you the strongest controls in the game, mez protection, and a free endurance refill. I'd agree that it's a similar support role to the team tank.
  25. If someone accuses a Sonic Defender of "letting teammates die" they don't know anything and are talking out of their ass.
