Do you use the presence power pool to get controls?
Voltak replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
AND YOU NEEDED the presence pool for fear>??? Just what you described to me is horrifying already. What you smoking ? -
I have another video where I go over the use of Shock. I recommend it. I think it was posted in this thread. The build is very tight, out the choices, ball of lightning wins, faster animation and a very good recharge speed. Doing very difficult content means you have to be careful with animation times. Exposure can get you killed or your team mates killed when you could have been doing something else to keep someone alive , buffed, and so on. Also, some enemies hit hard enough that long animations could mean some big nasty hits coming your way. Shock is also used for the recovery debuff, yes.

Here you go !!

Electric Affinity/Electric Blast Defender as the ONLY dedicated buffer support character in the team. One dedicated debuffer is in the team as well (Radiation Corruptor). The rest is tank, brute, blaster, and @Linea as the Scrapper. I provide commentary on the video. As I play I speak on the play style, uses, techniques, and so on. Below is the build I use for these 801 challenges as well as extreme difficulty settings for the ITF and LGTF, MLTF, LRSF, and so on. That all depends on the content of the game. If we are talking about easy content, yeah, they will die quickly. Harder more difficult content may not be so quickly decimated to kill. Depends on enemy types and such, depends on team composition, depends on player skills. There is no general rule that covers every single scenario in the game. I have had plenty of fights with AVs that for a loooooong time they did nothing but take selfies because they had no endurance. LGTF we did a few times with only 3 players , 54 x8, One Elec/ Dominator, one Elec Affinity Defender, One Brute... hoards of mobs, one brute was not killing everything fast enough, and neither were the Dom and I. We were fighting completely safe, the enemies around us had no endurance. That's just one example, I have a throng of others. Even grinding, some teams just don't have the composition to be steamrolling things in a blink of an eye all the time.

I think the matter is not being discussed from precise angles. What elec affinity combined with elec blast does is a dual debuff , it does a drain and a debuff. It severely damages recovery which produces endurance, and it also drains endurance. Draining endurance is only half the battle. A kinetics can drain endurance from one target with transference, all of it even. But that by itself will not stop endurance from recovering. Attacking the recovery is important. That prevents endurance from regenerating or recovering. The combo of elec affinity and electric does both things. I have many videos with this. I have more videos than time to edit them all. But from first hand experience, this combo handles both things and will attack endurance recovery and also empty endurance bars.

I was just servicing up the information as was expressed to me to be of interest by none other than the OP himself. Then I was just responding to comments made about that.

Even at lvl 26 with only SOs, you can have mobs +3 , drained , boss included, very quickly. I know for a fact as I grinded mine from 1 to 50. Anything that boosts your special abilities will usually buff your end drains. On one of my builds I don't even use short circuit and in combination with my two pets I can drain stuff very quickly, not a long time at all, especially since one of my pets all he does is AOE, no single target stuff. Also, how busy you are depends on how skilled and well-practiced you are, and what your routine is. When teams are hurt, of course, most buffing sets get busier than before. No one was stating that Elec Affinity is top tier for debuffing. I often wonder how many posters write stuff about combos they actually played in good length and in very challenging scenarios with a good degree of success. Lots of advice on the forums given by peeps who have no such experience as I noted in the sentence above.

I will post the build in the same section, same thread, where the video is posted. Also, as you learn to use and manage Elec Affinity, you will learn patterns and sequences, you will learn when and when not to use certain powers and you will learn movement or how and when to position yourself. Then you will just react, you will fire off your sequence and then back to blasting, or sometimes just waiting. I recorded the highest level of 801s possible in the game yesterday. I will post that as well. I will place the build as well in that same thread. Let me mention some things about what others say about your buffs are welcome for their toons but they are meant to solo. Doing exclusive solo stuff.... for the vast majority of players it means doing easy content, relatively speaking. Easy content is .... well... easy. Of course you going to solo that. The harder the content gets, the higher the difficulty, the more and more the support characters shine and start making the case that they truly are the kings and queens of the game. Elec Affinity defenders are at that top echelon of support when the difficulty it at or around the highest level of difficulty in the game. Learn it and enjoy it. It is very rewarding to do so.
-
Also, I am going to reference @Linea here. Linea, can tell you all about how my elec/elec defender makes a vast difference often determining by itself wether one level of 801 or another will be too easy or much more doable when present. It is truly a masterfully created piece of work by the developers. Two well played elec/elec defenders will make 801's TOP TIER challenge, the highest of all, look look like a mediocre challenge which only takes time but no big danger at all. That is unmatched by Nature Defender. Nature also has absorb but Elec Affinity absorb recharges very fast and the team wide heal is strong but all of that is taken to another level due to the fact that Elec Affinity provides strong resistances to all dmg except Toxic and due to the strong recharge buff too, recharge debuff will be nothing to deal with either, and Linea's scenarios with end drain will be meaningless with Elec Affinity defenders there. It's unmatched. Two of those will drain the whole room of baddies quickly except for the case of a room filled with AVs. *** as I got done writing this, I get a message on Discord from @FUBARczar to take his spot on the highest lvl 801 right now. Logging my elec defender now.
-
Also, elec affinity gives decent resistances to end drain on you or your team. Also, elec affinity by defender is among the most excellent buffing entities in the entire game. By lvl 25, with only SOs, you can grind at two levels above with an Elec Defender with safety and no endurance issues. I want to clarify, that you should have no endurance issues on an elec affinity / elec blast defender. 1) you can always fill your end bar via the pet with your endurance buff power (which also serves as a strong +rech buff) 2) when you drain endurance and also shock is in, you get endurance for yourself. All this stuff is on video, the one posted above. Also this --> Also, if I can get the defender to clear part 2 of the ITF solo, you better believe he will do Part 3 and 4 of the ITF and therefore solo the entire ITF at 54 x8 with no inspirations, no deaths, no temp powers, no P2W. Yes, I am working on it.

Fortunata Master of ITF Solo, 54 x 8, no inspirations, a guide

Everything is relative, or in comparison. So, part 3 and 4 are just not nearly as difficult as part 2 is, especially solo. Relatively speaking a combination of White Dwarfs, Bright Novas, ambushes filled with mobs, groups where 90% of the enemies can and will debuff your defenses... The ambushes keep increasing in numbers, and you are in caves so not much room to maneuver or run. Open door maps like part 3 and 4 make your defense a lot stronger because of freedom or scope of movement. That makes part 3 and 4 look like a lesser challenge, enough for me to be trivial. When you solo part 4 with something that cannot confuse or possess the Rommy, the AV, then the trick is to separate Rommy from the Nictus, and there are some tactics involved with that but it can be done. You dont' have to fight Rommy with the Nictus close to him. -
Storm as a secondary is your highest dmg controller bar none. You can make illusion work Ice Works Fire Works Plant works Grav works Even earth will work Dark will work too You will roll at 45+ where you can use Ageless Video demonstration Ice/Storm - NO INSPIRATIONS vs very tough mobs resistant to mez or mobs that can break free from any mez
-
PART 1 of 2 -- Using my 3rd build to do this. No inspirations used while fighting the ordinary mobs. No temps, no amplifiers, no vendor pets. Sometimes two groups of mobs were engaged, so 4 bosses at a time. Fight vs the AV is on part 2 and I already posted that some months ago. I just don't think part 1 was uploaded here. I searched but seems my Search Fu finds nothing.

For the support role with little damage go controller. For the control role with considerably more dmg, go Dominator.

I can confirm for sure, not even a question, that what the Devs did was to fix something which should have been happening since early. The Defense from shield defense was not stacking up when many of them were hurdling together or even close by. In any case, their defense has been fixed. Now their defenses are ridiculously high. You need high To hit or you need strong defense debuffs. I made a video for tutoring or providing guidance to others on how to solo part 2, 54 x8, no inspirations of the ITF with my Earth/Rad Dom. I did make the point that QUICKSAND is very important and useful for defensive reasons and offensive. I would not even skip it, not ever. Whoever is advocating to skip it has not tried very difficult content like this or challenges. Concerning Ice Slick and Arctic Air ---> Have you seen my videos I posted on the forums using this tactic ? I made several videos with my Ice/Storm controller including some solo videos vs Cimerorans 54 x8 with no inspirations in caves.
-
Hey, thank you very much. I was using that out of necessity because when I did part 1 and 2 alone, I found out that Cimerorans can turn soft cap defenses into red numbers in a blink of an eye. Hovering was my way to negate all of that. I keep my mouse over the Hover button as I move around, so I can deactivate Hover quickly. Keeping an eye on the surroundings helps because you need to be quick to fly right away if anyone is near you. I agree with you on Water Spout. To be sincere, I focused this whole build to tear and shred all defenses that CImerorans have. The ITF received a new tweak or a fix. Now Cimerorans have a RIDICULOUS amount of defenses. It is very hard to hit them without strong to hit buffs or without super good defense debuffs. Seeds will miss, Heart of Darkness will miss and so on when their defenses are activated (Shield stuff). So I made this as the SUPPORT dominator in the team. Since I can keep 2-3 patches of quicksand , that's about 25% debuff each, then add the other stuff too. Then Radiation secondary adds some serious debuff too. Heal of Radiation secondary ----- 118 ticks of health times 3... OH YEAH !!! Water Spout is auto hit and also debuffs defenses and the control what water spout provides is unresistable in many cases.

1. Earth/Radiation Dominator 2. Two Plant/Psi Dominators. ( @Raw and @AcreIV ) Even with two disconnections, we still beat the previous time by 10 minutes, but this time, Imperious was kept alive, and in Part 4 he makes a vast difference given his enormous damage. Part 4 - MVP goes to @Acre for his Trees of Life which kept Imperious alive

Me as a player before joining Master ITF and after joining .... two very different players. I have learned and evolved alot. I have learned about building, what works, what works well, what works somewhat, and so on. I learned tactics, techniques, awareness and so on... All those things helped me in the other areas and content of the game. But most of all, I started having more and more fun after joining. It is a matter of fun. Dying is no big deal because the team does not make it a big deal. The only who will make dying a big deal is the player who dies if she or he wants it to be. I remember @midnight used to die a lot and she has evolved greatly. But it was never a big deal, she even used all of that in humor. She is one of my favorite players to team with now because she plays builds that are not often seen and she makes them work beautifully.

You are very welcome, and I feel I should honor that by playing my Earth/ Dominator in our next run. By the way, I spoke with Raw today and he said he's logging in. Another Dom run tonight ? You deserve the compliments, Acre. You are a good player, always down to team and chilled. Earth/ doms are rare in these types of runs so always good to see them.
