THis is all assuming you are playing the easiest of content in the game. Your statement falls apart or not applicable as you climb the ladder of difficulty, as in enemies, content, no inspirations, no deaths allowed, are you doing even more challenging content such as some AE content -- are you doing some task forces with the hardest of settings on and facing enemies +4, are you turning off incarnates or not, and so on ? The game is VERY VERY EASY in many things, but this game has a lot of difficult content if you want to find it. The harder the content and the challenge, the more you start to see that the kings of this game are the support toons. As the challenge increases and difficulty is increasing, they simply PWN, and they will show any other types that YOU NEED THEM, but THEY DO NOT NEED YOU. That's experience doing the most difficult things in the game talking. Whoever has a passion and finds a lot of fun in experiencing the hardest of content in the game will tell you the same thing. @Linea is a witness, the harder the content, the more valuable a well built and a well played support character really is. You increase the challenge higher and higher and the more the support toons will start to show that non-support are not needed but support is critical. The support toon is the MVP of this game as the challenge increases.

Whoever thinks Defenders are not attractive as they are currently is because of ignorance ( no disrespect intended) or a lack of experience doing very challenging things using Defenders with no inspirations used, no deaths.

Elec/Elec Defender is S tier support, at the top echelon, easily. The resists , the mez protection, endurance drain resistance that you provide to the team, providing absorb shields to the team, you boost the recharge speed of your team and yourself, the endurance boost (helping fill up the endurance bar for all of you) and the power boost like buff in Amplify , the damage reduction debuff that you apply to enemies... Is is super good. Electric Affinity is a masterful creation by the Developers, it is a 10 out of 10.

Solo ITF Completion With Time/Fire/Dark Defender: The TankFender
Voltak replied to VoidSpawn2's topic in Defender
Yes, do not move, not even one step further past the Sybil. If the altar is behind you, she should always be in front of you, not an inch past her, not even on her. -
Highlighting and review of the instruments available which make this defender very hard to kill, and the offensive instruments which reduce or nullify the enemies' abilities to kill you.

Whoah, hold your horses. Already some here have a different take based on actual game play, not imagining some odd theories. This happens when Fluffy and Rom are about to die, close to death, and so on. Rommy dies just a blink before the fully dies too, technically enough time is there for fluffy to Rez Rommy. This is not a time to move to a bug and leave it at that... only. Rather, it is a time to create a badge to achieve this. This can be recreated by timing the dmg dealt to both AVs, and letting Rom die just a blink before Fully dies too. I think it's working as intended, as far as Rommy rez'ing. What you may want to do grant the players extra time, or, in other words, hold off the mission completion issue. But award the badge.

I was away from the game, and I took a break from the forums as well. Yes, the build is also posted here

Sorry for the VERY VERY late response. I had taken a LOOOONG break from the game and from the forums. I am back to enjoying the game. There is no optimal attack chain that fits all scenarios. It will largely vary depending on who the targets are or is, for example, do we have a group or a single target. Are we trying to stack up the dom IO proc? If yes, using what target, some critters or a pylon or an AV ? For general play I use the Dom IO proc (increase dmg) on the hold. For some other of my builds, I have on Midnight Grasp (especially for pylon) and yet on another build I used it on Dark Obliteration. In a mob, you should posses anyone that you need. That decision will change as you gain experience, and your game IQ develops, and exactly what your plan is to accomplish a specific task . In some cases , especially when Domination is up, possessing bosses first is a good idea. I have domination on Auto-Fire, that means you must manage hasten if you don't have permanent hasten ( by that point of having so much recharge, you should also have permanently Dom outside of hasten.

I sent BUrning Dezire a build I put together Message him or quote him for that build
-
It's good and it can't hurt to throw a hold if any enemies around. IT's a proc, it's behaving like a proc. Opening a crowd with an AoE is fine. That does not mean you cannot find an opportunity to engage the bosses or harder targets in the groups with MG. My defenses on my Dominator are all Range defenses, on all 3 of my builds. I have nothing but gains. I hope by now you understand I dont have a build that is ST focused. It's just that my builds (besides the Pylon test one) is very good for whatever, groups or ST. So, my builds can do extremely difficult things (groups or AVs) using MG and my builds do them well. Therefore it makes zero sense for me to recommend to anyone to skip MG after seeing what I can do with it.
-
You can get faster stacks in quicker recharge powers like DG , or MG.
-
I have a build in which that ATO set goes into Dark Grasp Still the +dmg proc triggers enough so I can consistently have it at 3 stacks if I am spamming the hold. You can verify this yourself in the videos. The ST hold is something I use regularly wether fighting groups or a single target. Even then MG is still carrying procs if the ATO set is in DG. I am still using MG in the cycle when I am close enough to use it.
-
I am not saying it is the measurement, as in the only measurement. I am not saying that. I am saying that MG proves to be a great part of the repertoire for the sakes of sheer dmg. ** take a look at my psi build. It has MG in it. It's the same build I cleared Carnies solo, no inspirations, 54 8 and in addition I killed the AV at the end. Again, my builds are good in AoE and ST. They are good thanks to the inclusion of Gloom, Smite, MG and Moonbeam. Only one build of mine does not have Smith because I picked something else. Even in that case MG carries me on thanks to procs
-
None of my builds are focused on single targets. All my builds are for AoE and ST. I have to be good at both I am good at both ST and AoE on all 3 builds. All 3 builds have MG All 3 builds were tested in real game play. They perform very well. My build for pylon times is a totally different build that I don't use at all except for testing dark assault only
-
I know Moonbeam insta snipe is the hardest DPA. But you do want that MG. That chart has no procs in the formulas. MG is a very hard hitter. That chart does not mean all of that when procs are in the game. Those 4 attacks are the best attacks in the set. Did you see my pylon times ? I doubt Dark Assault (using secondary only) will beat that time without using MG and placing the proc there (stacking 3 times ) You can still have have HoD with procs and still equip MG. Having one does not exclude the other. Both of them will get used. Don't skip MG, brother.
-
You are losing me, my friend. You making the case to use only bigger DPA. Look at the chart you showed me, MG is bigger dmg than Moonbeam. So, again, my chain starts with MG (proc) , Smite , Gloom The only AoE(s) I consider using is Engulfing Darkness or Dark Obliteration with EG being the main AoE if I take only one. In my videos I show exactly how it is done I dont only solo AVs. I do more than just that. Soloing task forces is never about killing AVs only. Watch me clear maps full of carnies 54 x8 , with NO inspirations too. Again, I also use 3 different builds, not one Even to kill AVs, I have more than one build to do it with
-
Brother, An attack chain is not two powers only. Come on, my man. You can't make an attack chain with just gloom and smite. Also Mid G is an excellent place for procs Don't skip it. Chain - MG, Smite, Gloom, ** then others Those charts should be used as reference but in practice things are a bit different. As a Dark/Dark player (since it was released on test server back in live server days) , I would never recommend anyone skipping this power. **** Also, I never said I was not a fan of Haunt. I never said I don't like it either. I said I have 3 builds. Not all builds have same powers, nor are they identical, otherwise, there's no point in 3 builds. One of my builds does use Haunt. Some times other things were more fitting or more important to me in a specific build and in what I wanted to do according to the way I was going to do them.
-
Don't skip Midnight Grasp Smite is better DPA but that in no way means you cannot have both. Midnight Grasp is a heavy hitter when Smite is down, it is your biggest hitting attack. In none of my 3 builds do I skip Midnight Grasp I have 3 builds on my dark/dark. In two of my builds I do skip Haunt. When I want to use Haunt, I use that specific build. You can do great things without Haunt. You don't need living shadows If ever you do need an immobilize, it will be the single target immobilize ( more significant vs AVs)

Radiation hits slow but it sure hits hard. The heal is very good. As you saw in the video, it was significant utility I took radiation assault for the extra defense debuff and the heal. The heal is better than Psi. Psi is a regen Fire has no heal Rad will not beat Dark for DPS but I did not take Rad for DPS. I took it for the utility and defense debuff. You can proc Rad attack as well
