My chief issue with Titan Weapons is animation lag. It would not work all that well with defense sets like Fire or Bio Armor, or Regen, anything that relies on click powers for survival. The slow animations also mean that after you've positioned yourself and queued up your Build Up and big AOE, the blaster has killed most of the mobs you had targeted.

Best of the New-to-You, builds and powersets
Heraclea replied to Without_Pause's topic in General Discussion
Have a Bio Armor/Spines tanker that I am enjoying immensely. Bringing Spines to tankers is a great and good move. Dark Melee now has competition as the 'why didn't you take this instead?' secondary for tankers. Dark Melee is for the tanker who wants to survive everything; Heraclea got through a Rikti ship raid yesterday and her health barely dipped. Spines is for the tanker who wants to monopolize all of the mobs' attention. It also would go to the top of the class for Willpower tankers who want to be whole-spawn tanks, especially after Quills. Bio Armor is interesting as well. I don't think it will ever be as tough as, say, Invuln. But it has several 'oh snap' buttons, not one, without the disadvantages of something like Unstoppable, which I never take on a tanker anyways. So difficult alphas and adds don't faze you. The only serious problem with it is that, like Fire Armor, it is at risk for animation lag, so Bio/EM is a definite no. Finally, Spines and Bio Armor work together well for concept, even if it doesn't quite fit this character's concept, which I developed in the playing thereof; she turned out to be an emissary of an Aztec goddess sent to Paragon City to kill Skuls. (Total ripoff, you know.) Thought of yet another concept, so I'm finally trying a Mastermind. Beast Mastery/Nature control sounds cool. -
Ceiling must be max height. Max height ceiling can be set to 'none'; if you are using any pattern no sky will work. Add sky.

Now that I see how it works, the Amazon Army base on Torchbearer has the code AMAZON-963 Feel free to look around.

If you are a Willpower tanker, there may be a point to slotting attacks with Taunt, given that your aura's taunt strength is less than that of other sets, and also with slotting the aura itself with Taunt. (Does anyone know about the i25 primaries like Bio and Radiation Armor? My Bio/Spines tanker seems to have little difficulty commanding attention, then again Spines on a tanker is something I never thought I'd see.) Other than that, no.

I'd add that a rad will also effectively amplify a team's damage output quite efficiently while being somewhat more fun to play than Kinetics. Playing 'the kin' on a team, confronted with constant demands for Speed Boost, felt something like this to me: Never got one to 50. Moved my fire/kin to another server to make room on Victory. Did not enjoy that experience.

Blueside, I'd take a character through the Death from Below a couple times. That should easily get you to 9 or 10-ish. Then do task forces, repeatedly if needed, starting with Positron 1 and 2, which will probably get you to 15 and Synapse, then to 20 and Penelope Yin, then to 25 and Citadel. After Citadel it slows in that one run through will not get you to the next tiers, which are Manticore at 30 and Numina at 35. But once you hit 35 you can unlock Cimerora and run ITFs repeatedly all the way to 50. Throw in stuff like Maria Augustine story arcs in Peregrine or Eden trials for variety. If you run this many task forces, you will do more than level your character at a pleasant clip. You will also furnish yourself with many reward merits, which means that any recipe in the game is yours to command. You will also be reasonably supplied with the inf needed to craft them, and many salable drops. In short, your character will not only be levelled, she will be more than adequately powerful and prepared to take on any challenge with the ease that makes it fun.

It was 10 years ago that I wrote the guide about holding aggro with a Willpower tanker. But Titan Weapons probably would make a good pairing with WP: it contains several big cones and PBAoEs. You will want to have that chat with Null the Gull about Speed Boost. This may be my next WP tanker project, at least after I make a WP/Spines tanker.

I remember the site, my first drawing of Heraclea went there; long since lost the exact name or URL. It went down sometime before 2012 IIRC.

Low Volume and Very Hard to Find Recipes
Heraclea replied to arkieboy72472's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Interesting, did not know that. There are some recipes like Numina's and Performance Shifter that I would prefer to get at the lowest possible levels they're available at. Just so long as it levels them down as well as up, though frankly I never buy those at Wentworth's anyways. -
Low Volume and Very Hard to Find Recipes

I always take stuff like Slows to the AH, unless I have a character with a use for them. Just about anything but Knockback; nobody should slot for more knockback. I a, always auctioning off-level set pieces as well, for stuff like pet damage or sniper attacks. These may be hard to find because most of them are random levels. -
At least it would be something the 4chan server never will have.

This is part of the problem. Blueside, there is enough content that you get to pick your enemies. Redside you pretty much have to do each zone in sequence. I never got a mastermind past Sharkhead when they were exclusively redside. Blueside, they are probably much more fun. Blueside, there is enough content that if you prefer not to fight Vahzilok or Clockwork or Malta or Carnies, you can move from one to fifty without ever setting foot in one of those missions. Redside, you pretty much have to take what you're given. The problem is even bigger goldside. People complain that it's harder to get into teams there. Seriously, the goldside content is very unfriendly to big teams. You do not want to get bosses or large spawns there. Other late additions to the game like revamped Dark Astoria or Night Ward have similar issues with mob groups that are apparently balanced to single player, +0, no boss spawns. Whoever thought it was a good idea to make kinetic Tsoo minions - what on earth were they thinking? I played through that once, on my reflex/Dark Melee untouchable scrapper, and realized that I wouldn't want to do it on any other character, nor would I ever want to run it on a team. Likewise, once through Praetoria with its massed Seers was enough, especially since there's no real avoiding them. This misses some of the major forms of fun the game offers.

Titan Weapons has a hard hitting but slow feel. It also uses a Momentum mechanic that may not be friendly to recharge slows. I'd try it with something other than Stone.

I don't think that there has ever been an MMO where melee got a fair shake in PvP. This is one of the reasons why I don't PvP. Something like a cage match might be interesting.

I suppose what frustrates me more than anything is the fact that creative AE content is apparently harder on the servers than farm content is. I liked using patrols and ambushes, a lot, in my AE material. Using them allowed me to give the enemies and other characters lines. In doing this, I was following the example of the official content, which uses the same resources the same way. We all have favorite NPC lines. I assure you, my good man, Nemesis is most definitely 'down with the street'. Word up, my homie, as it were.

On Torchbearer, I set the passcode for the Amazon Army base to 'passcode' (no quotes). I certainly wouldn't mind curious people taking a look around. The basic concept is Roman Amazons, rather than Greek; in practice it doesn't make much difference. Shared background for my Amazon characters can be read here. EDIT - I have no idea how these codes work, or whether all you have to do to get in is to know the code, whether you have to be a teammate or a friend of the base owner or their supergroup before they will work. I am interested to know how this works; of course, I am @Heraclea .

Would love to find what became of Orion; also Richard 47 and Celtic Mystik.

New look for Heraclea for i25. Still recognizably her, of course.
