You were trying to say what you said - the game never grabs the player by the hand and takes them to the bird. So? No one took (most?) players by the hand to all kinds of things in the game that they learn just fine, including how to tell other players 'they are doing it wrong', etc. You are implying that because nothing in the game explicitly tells the player how to turn off things they don't like via the bird, that it's OK for those players, in turn, to tell others to turn off powers and be 'justified', even if that was not your intent...IMO. So, I think I got it just fine, thanks.

My definition of a great teammate is one that brings the lest amount of drama - if I am not there, I cause no drama with my 'bad' playing, nor do I make a scene ruining the vibe for attacking the fun-haters in team chat. 🙂 On teams, I am happy to make a trategy if needed, etc., I simply do not wish to spend my own precious time explaining mechanics and rules, when there are better version already written that I got my data from...since there are so many 'helpers' in CoH, it's never realy been an issue.
-
Understand This: It is not nessasary to tell other players what powers not to use, imagine that, nor is it nessasary for me to change how I play the game just because some uptight person thinks I am doing it 'wrong'. 🙂

How many times do I have to type 'if something about the team is not my liking, or if people are complaining, I leave the team.' Where, anywhere, anytime, have I said I will force my viewpoint on th team? Where have I even insinuated I would continue on a team that dislikes my presence? I simply leave teams that decide to be unfun, be it a complaint about KB, Group Fly, Herding, Not Herding, and any other useless drama that people cannot seem to leave out of video games. Again, you, like so many others, are just determined to make me a Villian for simply not wanting to interact with mean people, from my PoV.

Well, I am still the bad guy in your world, because I generally don't tell anyone anything about the game, in-game. 🙂 I have already been vilianized on these forums for the outlook, but I am a person that turns off the Help channel in all games, first thing. IMO, if you are playing an Internet based game, you have access to the Internet, so why try to make people that have found the time to play be subjected to having to stop playing to tell others how to play, when that data is all over the Internet for the player to find with thier own energy and time. I don't say anything in-game about it, if people want to talk about whatever, that's cool, I just tune it out and kill pixels. From my PoV, it is simply a social fox-paw to do this in-game...not as mean as kicking people for living up to someone's exacting standards of playing the game, but still kind of rude... I agree a good team experience is on everybody. I make a great teammate, IME. Part of what makes me a great teammate is knowing when to walk away from controling people and teams. (Not teams with Controllers, that rocks.)

If 'helping' people in-game with data is your thing, that's awesome. Telling players not to use powers because they offend the team just means I will drop the team. The last thing I need is some random people telling me how to enjoy my spare time, or listening to them rant about others 'ruining' thier precious team. We fundamentally disagree that there is such a thing as a bad player, it is that simple. The whole idea of kicking anyone out of a team for anything other than something like direct harassment, link-dead, etc., is silly from my PoV and shows a lack of maturity, emapathy, and patience on the part of the kickers. I have felt this way from the very frst code I ran into that allowed players to be kicked.

What you call an "imbalanced status quo", I call City of Heroes. Are characters in comcs balanced? Nope. Are Hawkeye and Thor balanced? Nope. There no need for there to be "balance', especially at a stage where this game running on rogue servers exixts. This idea of balance, IMO, comes from 'I paid the same money for the game, I deserve the rewards/content that exists'. There is simply no possible way for any game company, even with unlimited funds, to make all players happy, it is a lost cause. Personally, it's always been easy for me - am I having fun? - Keep playing - am I no longer having fun? - Stop playing. The entire premise of trying to alter online games to my preferences is distasteful to me; it's like telling an artist I like your painting, but could you add more green, I like green. I take games for what they offer, I don't have some burining need to make all game developers bend to my will.

Some are, based on the militant way in which they choose to run groups, IME. The moment a star holder in CoH starts with any 'house rules', I drop, ubless we are just confirming it's a speed run or not. Communication is key - feel free to let players like me know the leader is stick in the mud before we begin, that's always better. The only issue here is judgemental players. People trying to convince us that players that play the game a different way are 'bad' are the problem. Just a bunch of haters that cannot abide anyone not doing things thier way, IMO. This is nothing new. These hateful players have been trying to me how to play games the 'right' way for about 40 years now. They end up, IME, sitting in a corner in the game shop all alone, or with one or to other judgemental players, while the rest of us are laughing and enjoying a fun game of something. Seen it in online games, MTG, Battletech, PnP games, all of them. Some people simply cannot abide other players not conforming to the 'herd'. I will keep on having a ton of fun in my life, these players have no power over me, I rant on forums like this to support other players that, like me, choose thier own path and do not choose to follow the herd.

Thanks! I learned something new today! I can easily be part of a team, I make an excellent teammate, I have even had compliments. That has nothing to do with having an obligation to alter my playstyle to appease some random person who thinks it's OK to tell others to alter their playstyles over KB, etc. The "-ould" sound is all about guilt. Should, would, could - all tools to make someone else feel bad to get them to do one's bidding. Laugh away! Happy to bring joy!
-
If your enjoyment is diminished and you stay anyway, you have chosen to enjoy being diminished, IMO. You have the choice to leave a team that, for any reson, is no fun for you. If you choose to be a silent martyr, that's on you, not the other players.
-
By leaving the team if you don't like the way they play. I have no obligation to anyone in this game, 'should' is nothing more than guilt-tool, IMO. I will play the way I want to play, my only obligation is to myself and my wife, thanks, not some random human in a game on the Internet that does not like KB.

Admit what, I play for fun and don't care about XP/Rewards per minute? I admint that all the time, it's the way I play the game. Of course scattering mobs takes longer than putting them a barrell to shoot like farmed raised fish. Duh? KB makes the game fun, chaos makes the games fun. I see herders almost every time I join a team outside of DFB, or at least timid players that wait for someone else to gather mobs via initial aggro. And I do love to dance, how did you know?
-
How about "Real Heroes don't need to herd enemies like cattle, they take the fighting to the enemy!" Or "Real Heroes understand the powers given by the Well come in many forms and they adapt!" Even "Real Heroes don't feel the need to act like Villians to other Heroes."
-
Why do you need a bonus to play the way it's more fun for you to play? Really, why? If you like to play with smaller teams and it is more fun to you, then play with smaller teams and have more fun. Why does there have to be an in-game increase in rewards? If you play for the increase in rewards, then you are playing for rewards, not to have fun in smaller teams, IMO. I mostly solo for the very reason the game is mostly easymode once you have mastered it, it makes it fun. 1-4 is perfect for me, so that's what I play, the rewards fall like candy at this point.

I think after reading through this thread there are a lot of wanna-be CEOs that play this game. Newsflash, you don't get to dictate how other use powers in the game. Not exploits, powers coded and meant to be used in the game. Like the OP, I will play my characters using every single thing in the game I like. If you don't like the things I use, then YOU can leave the team, and/or YOU can use the tools provided to tailor YOUR experience. If YOU have a problem with what is occuring on the team, it is up to YOU to leave, not prevent other players from using the powers that the game provides, full stop. Don't let the control freaks and Fun Haters Players Union stop your fun. Play the way you like and let the fun-haters go play the game like a job on another team. Fun per second is the main thing, not the trivial rewards like Influence and Recipes, slogging through mobs in some effort to 'maximize profits' like a job. The best part of these threads is that I get to add names to my in-game ignore list w/o ever having to go through the pain of teaming with hateful people.

It's all about extremes... Not worrying about conversations that occur on occasion in a chat channel vs worrying over the channels becoming useless because of it are two very differnt things. You imply 'lighten up' is 'total anarchy'. I ask for people to be reasonable and not harp on silly little details and relax, people imply I advocate total anarchy. Yup, biz as usual. And yes, the mere fact that words on the screen in a video game cause even this level of angst is, IMO, silly.
-
I think anyone that thinks in such binary terms as to force humans to follow such silly and arbitrary rules on conversations in a social game needs to perhaps look up words in the dictionary like empathy and compassion, perhaps even needs to go in the to 'outside' or partake in an adult beverage and 'chill out'. Are we really so tight assed in our glorious CoH community that we now have to swipe at each other over how and wehre we choose to be friendly?

Yeah, and? My all electric Dominator exploits enemies weak to energy. Psi based characters exploit most of the enemies in the game. So? You say this like it's some epiphany or something. Some builds exploit some enemies in the game. Duh? -

Your reply is great. Mine made you laugh. That really is the only thing that matters - laughing and enjoying life. All of my posts are real. This is how I talk to people in the real world, everyday. I love to openly speak about things, bluntly, with people who can disect ideas without thinking because I think an idea is bad that they are bad. Sadly, most people simply cannot do that, IME. It's why I am so damned adamant about this topic - gamers telling other gamers the 'right' way to have fun. You seemed to not like the format of my message, you said so, I responded, it's all fun to me. None of that means I won't be a cheeky, sarcastic bastard though. I am who I am. -
