HC needs to develop a policy on memorials.
ZacKing replied to Greycat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Those were good questions. Another concern is that this opens up the ability for it to be abused. No doubt there will be the enterprising individual(s) who will use these holograms to create "walls of shame" or otherwise unflattering depictions of people they don't like. If anyone can add anything, then what's to stop someone from making a hologram of people they don't like without that persons consent? I don't envy you all on this. It's a slippery slope. -
Avengers: Doomsday - Full Cast Announcement

I'd rather not see Captain Carter. She was already in DS:MoM and What If? I don't find her to be an interesting character to be honest, just gender bending. I also think it does the character of Peggy Carter a disservice. She already was a smart, strong and capable woman without needing to be a super soldier. Never needed to turn her into one to begin with. There's a reason why these characters aren't popular and Marvel comic sales have plummeted in recent years. Not long ago I read a couple of articles about DC and Marvel making up less than 4% of total graphic novel and comic sales. They're way, way, way behind manga anymore. -
HC needs to develop a policy on memorials.
ZacKing replied to Greycat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
This is an excellent idea as it gives everyone the opportunity to create a memorial they feel best fits their needs. Thank you. You can create plaque type objects in the base with text, or even entire memorial walls. It's tedious to add each letter individually, but it can be done. -
Dismissive, and Troll Encouraging Behavior
ZacKing replied to Kistulot's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If I can be honest, I really don't think calling the Council members and GMs "trolls" is going to go the way you think it is. I think we can all understand you are upset over the loss of your friend and can sympathize with you, but that isn't an excuse for you to go on an angry tirade against the people running the show. This isn't going to end well for you. You may want to quit while you're ahead. I'm sorry your request to add your friend as an NPC into the game got denied. I do think it's the right call though. -

Some folks may want to take a breath here and read the thread @ShardWarriorlinked above on the request to add @Heracleainto the game in Cimerora. Heraclea was a well known and respected player too who did a lot for Tanker Tuesdays. He had an impact on the community back on live and here in HC. You can see from the thread there are a lot of people who agreed with his inclusion too. By the way - Shard's post is a little over a week after Heraclea passed on, and nobody lost their minds over timing. Just my 2 inf on that. Anyway, with that said, there's a GM response in the Heraclea thread that's worth repeating here. Here's the relevant part of GM Impervium's post - That's how it should remain in my opinion - completely and totally at the discretion of the HC team, with no rules or set guidelines on who gets added when or where. Requesting HC develop a policy for this is putting them in a very bad position, and that's very unfair to them. No matter what they do or what policy they create, they're going to offend and upset people. Who gets to decide where the NPC goes? What if someone else wanted that spot? Stuff like that is why whatever rules HC comes up with will never be good enough for everyone. They can't please everyone here and they shouldn't be trying to in my opinion. It's a no win situation for HC and I don't think we should be asking HC to do it. If they're going to include one person, then they'll need to include everyone as that's the only equal and fair way to do it since everyone who has passed on has family and friends and is worth remembering. Sadly, there's quite a few of us who can name at least one person we knew from the game who has passed away that had some impact on us. That makes everyone worthy in my book. I'll say again, I think building a memorial in the base editor is the best option. Friends and loved ones can collaborate and build a memorial they feel best represents the person(s) they want to remember. I like the idea of adding the holo emitter to the base editor specifically for this purpose. Hell, you could even make entire AE arcs with the persons character as contact or in the story to tell others all about them and let them team up with that person's character. They'll be immortalized forever in there. -

HC needs to develop a policy on memorials.
ZacKing replied to Greycat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I think this is the best solution. Anything of this nature is going to have to be done by players. As much as I agree with the spirit of the overall suggestion, I don't think the HC folk should spend any time considering adding any kind of memorial area and/or statues/plaques to the game. Plaques with people's names require maintenance to add new names. Nor would any policy they come up with that spells out who is or isn't worthy of remembrance or immortalizing in the game isn't going to satisfy everyone. It would just lead to disappointment, arguments and hurt feelings when someone's friend or loved one isn't deemed "worthy" of inclusion. I think people need to remember this isn't "our" game or "our" server - it's theirs, and if they want to add NPCs into the game of their close friends or family who have passed away, they certainly can. I've no problem with that at all. Yes, it would be really wonderful if everyone who has passed on can get their character immortalized in game, but I don't see that happening. I think engaging with a couple of base builders to put together a memorial space that can be shared would be the best solution. Maybe the HC people could even copy it to each server so it doesn't need to be rebuilt on every shard. -
No, they don't always cry out for help, and I do have my chat window option with NPC dialogue on the active tab. There are some NPCs that do call out, others who don't or you essentially have to be within 6 inches of them in order for them to say something. It would be preferable to have them cry out from a much farther range.
-
It would be really terrific if hostage NPCs could call for help if you're within targetable range of them. One of the absolute worst things about running the antiquated story content in this game is the godawful time sink missions where you've got to search the city maps for hostages. I really don't have the spare time that I used to, and aimlessly wandering around trying to uncover every pixel of a map to locate a hostage is just painful. Yes, I know about targetcustomnext, but that doesn't always work well. Might also be a nice inf sink P2W temp power - "hostage locater" or something. Can we please get NPC hostages to cry out for help if you're near them?

Avengers: Doomsday - Full Cast Announcement
ZacKing replied to ZacKing's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I think that's it exactly. They're looking at how well Deadpool and Wolverine did and thinking that it's viewers longing for nostalgia, when in reality it's just that they've been shelling out pure crap. It is a joke to be casting RDJ as Dr. Doom when there's any number of actors out there who could do the role justice. I hate to say it, but his casting alone doesn't give me any confidence the story is going to be good. I think Evans isn't going to be the last of the OG Avengers to make a return for this movie either, and I don't think this is enough to save it. -
With box office crapfests like Morbius, Madame Web and now Kraven, it's no wonder Sony's giving up on it. https://comicbook.com/movies/news/sony-marvel-spider-man-universe-spinoff-movies-ending-dead/

I guess he couldn't let RDJ get all the limelight. 🙂 https://www.superherohype.com/movies/588963-chris-evans-mcu-return-avengers-doomsday Calling it now... this'll be alternate universe Hydra Cap.

People are going to complain about something regardless of what does or doesn't get added to the game. IF any players do complain about this, they can be told the same thing - the space in Pocket D or anywhere else in the game doesn't belong to them. It's not theirs. They can't claim any single millimeter of any map anywhere in the game as "theirs". If a couple of NPC dancers get added and they don't like it, oh well, so be it. Life goes on. This isn't a commercial game anymore and the people running don't have to be concerned about losing paying customers.
-
Not for nothing, the only person here complaining about "taking up too much space" or "claiming space other players have claimed" is you. This game just doesn't have the population or traffic in Pocket D for "space issues" that can't be claimed by players anyway to even be considered a major problem. Shatner up thread had it right on this one.

Player Character named Max's Chat is Visible Everywhere
ZacKing replied to ArchangelDax's topic in Bug Reports
So what? If it's causing a bug and is annoying other players, it should get renamed. HC can always change it back once they've fixed the issue. They are renaming characters all the time. -
It's from the set being pure crap on a Scrapper.

If it has to do with character and/or global, then HC can rename the character and rename the global. -
Captain America: Brave New World
ZacKing replied to Excraft's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Yeah I've seen a few news articles and reports over the last day or two that are putting the budget at closer to $400 million US. A couple of them that are admittedly rumor from "insider sources" have said that the budget is over $500 million US, not including any marketing. I like Anthony Mackie and the character of Falcon, but there's no way this movie is pulling in the billion plus it's going to need just to break even. He's just not that big of a draw. According to the BBC report I saw, they're in the process of re-shooting several scenes again. I agree, it might be better to take the hit like WB did with Batgirl. The MCU needs a long hiatus so they can go back to the drawing board. Thunderbolts and this flop aren't going to bring back the MCU. I guess a silver lining here is that this film may take the title of biggest MCU flop away from The Marvels, and that's not something to really be proud of. -
Captain America: Brave New World
ZacKing replied to Excraft's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Yeah this news was on the BBC the other day. From what the report had said, Disney is working on re-shoots right now for this movie. That doesn't bode well for this movie. According to the report, the reported budget is over $375 million US not including marketing. That's insanely ridiculous and it's probably understated given all of the re-shoots. There's no way this movie hits the billion dollar mark to even break even. -
Yes it does and yes, they can. That doesn't change anything in regard to the stupidity of the excuse of players laying personal claim to space on a game map. Curupira, Ascendant, Luna, Coyote, Glory Hound, Raine Hartfall, Norsewind, Infurno and other NPCs were all added to areas that are taking up space. Or is no one claiming the space in ICON or in Steel Canyon or Croatoa they are occupying? Again, if the people running this server like the OPs idea and want to add a couple of NPCs to Pocket D, they'll do it. Nothing anyone can do about it. Same goes for you and I don't really care either. I just don't see the excuse of a player saying that space on the Pocket D map is "theirs" so a request like this can't be made. Players can't claim space in game, so that shouldn't be a deterrent at all. You're of course welcome to disagree.
-
Far as I can tell, the OP didn't ask for any specific location(s) in Pocket D for NPCs to be added, unlike the example you provided where the specific space on the wall WW got moved to that a couple of people ridiculously tried to claim is "theirs". Again, space in the game doesn't belong to any player. It belongs to the people running the show, and if they decide that they like the OPs idea and want to add a few single dancing NPCs to the Pocket D map, they'll do it and there's nothing anyone here can do about it. They've added other NPCs into the game, like Curipira, Ascendant and Luna. Are they ok where they are or should they get moved/removed? Pocket D is a big space. It's not like it's standing room only in there. There's plenty of room for everyone. If people are truly that desperate for their own private dance club space, make use of the base editor and build your own club. They can add as many or as few NPCs to the environment as they want in there and no one but them can move NPCs around.
