  1. So what? When stuff like Fold Space is getting added to the game which makes herding/AoE DPS even faster/more efficient, why should KB > KD be treated any differently?
  2. Yes, it has been part of Hollywood and yes, the difference is in the writing and how its presented. I'm fully aware of Star Trek TOS and TNG, I haven't forgotten anything. You'll notice I specifically said film productions "of the last couple of years", meaning more recent films, not TV shows from 30 and 60 years ago. They had actual writers who knew how to write back then, not the hacks most of these studios hire today.
  3. The Real Reason Superman Bleeds According To James Gunn Hmmm.... sounds better, but given all of the agenda and message pushing that's completely polluted Hollywood productions of the last couple of years, I don't know whether to be excited or extremely wary. Having Superman be a symbol of good, kindness and hope is a good thing. I might be on the "cautiously optimistic" side now, but we'll see. Any time I hear some actor or director talking about politics and how it's relevant to their movie, I cringe. lol
  4. No he was full on stalker mode with Lois. He didn't know the kid was his until the end of the movie.
  5. Was he smiling in the trailer? I didn't see it. Seems like another angry/depressed/brooding take on the character from the footage in the trailer.
  6. Yeah but that hasn't worked for them in the past. See Superman Returns. ^This exactly! They're never going to top Donner's original Superman. Christopher Reeve wasn't only Superman on film, he was Superman in real life. Hollywood isn't going to recapture that magic again. It looks like the story here is going to revolve around a world not wanting or hating Superman. Why that's the route they chose to go I don't know yet, but it isn't what I think of when I think of Superman. He's supposed to inspire us. He's better than us. He's the ideal to strive toward. That's what I want to see, not people throwing cans at him and screaming at him.
  7. No, we don't need to change any HC policies. HC can set whatever policies and rules they want and whatever makes the most sense for them. If anyone doesn't like the rules here, there are a selection of other CoH servers out there to try.
  8. Yup. I'm out. This is going to suck, calling it now. Hard as they've tried over the last 46 years, Hollywood just can't beat Donner's film and Christopher Reeve as Superman. Brandon Routh was great, but suffered from a shit script. Henry Cavill was great too, but also suffered from a bad script. I see nothing in this trailer here to make me want to see this.
  9. I'm not, nor was I claiming to.
  10. I can understand why HC doesn't continue the discussion. I wouldn't want to get into a protracted, endless debate with unhappy players who are going to be upset no matter what I say or do. It's lose lose no matter what for them.
  11. So you'd like a GM or HC Council member to post "Sorry, but no" in your "official" request thread so you can complain about them in that thread too? Just want to make sure.
  12. You can create a much nicer looking monument very close to, if not exactly like the Vietnam War Wall memorial right now in a base, including names. No development time required and it's there forever and everyone can visit it.
  13. That's the point. You've now created more work for the volunteer staff. They're going to need a whole policy and guidelines for this. The ideas of using AE to create story arcs as memorials or adding a hologram base item or building a base memorial are things everyone could do. Two of those you can do right now with no development work needed. I understand you're grieving and trying very hard to get your friend included in the game. I'm sorry for your loss. We can all empathize with that, but a NPC for fallen players is a privilege that I think should be reserved for those who are volunteering their free time to create and maintain the game. It's not something that should be open to everyone.
  14. I don't have any problem with the HC people adding likenesses of their friends or loved ones into the game. They're running and maintaining the whole thing in their spare time and sharing their labors with us. That gives them the right to add people important to them in my opinion and that doesn't mean it should be an option for everyone else. As for your suggestion, it's back to the original issues with it - this isn't fair for everyone and it makes this into a popularity contest, which is something the HC people have said they want to avoid.
  15. Anyone can add whatever text they want inside a base they create, so this is unnecessary. It also wouldn't work if people can edit the files. You suggested other uses like in-base directories and such. That totally breaks if someone can modify the text file beyond what the original author intended there.
  16. Those were good questions. Another concern is that this opens up the ability for it to be abused. No doubt there will be the enterprising individual(s) who will use these holograms to create "walls of shame" or otherwise unflattering depictions of people they don't like. If anyone can add anything, then what's to stop someone from making a hologram of people they don't like without that persons consent? I don't envy you all on this. It's a slippery slope.
  17. I'd rather not see Captain Carter. She was already in DS:MoM and What If? I don't find her to be an interesting character to be honest, just gender bending. I also think it does the character of Peggy Carter a disservice. She already was a smart, strong and capable woman without needing to be a super soldier. Never needed to turn her into one to begin with. There's a reason why these characters aren't popular and Marvel comic sales have plummeted in recent years. Not long ago I read a couple of articles about DC and Marvel making up less than 4% of total graphic novel and comic sales. They're way, way, way behind manga anymore.
  18. This is an excellent idea as it gives everyone the opportunity to create a memorial they feel best fits their needs. Thank you. You can create plaque type objects in the base with text, or even entire memorial walls. It's tedious to add each letter individually, but it can be done.
  19. If I can be honest, I really don't think calling the Council members and GMs "trolls" is going to go the way you think it is. I think we can all understand you are upset over the loss of your friend and can sympathize with you, but that isn't an excuse for you to go on an angry tirade against the people running the show. This isn't going to end well for you. You may want to quit while you're ahead. I'm sorry your request to add your friend as an NPC into the game got denied. I do think it's the right call though.
  20. Some folks may want to take a breath here and read the thread @ShardWarriorlinked above on the request to add @Heracleainto the game in Cimerora. Heraclea was a well known and respected player too who did a lot for Tanker Tuesdays. He had an impact on the community back on live and here in HC. You can see from the thread there are a lot of people who agreed with his inclusion too. By the way - Shard's post is a little over a week after Heraclea passed on, and nobody lost their minds over timing. Just my 2 inf on that. Anyway, with that said, there's a GM response in the Heraclea thread that's worth repeating here. Here's the relevant part of GM Impervium's post - That's how it should remain in my opinion - completely and totally at the discretion of the HC team, with no rules or set guidelines on who gets added when or where. Requesting HC develop a policy for this is putting them in a very bad position, and that's very unfair to them. No matter what they do or what policy they create, they're going to offend and upset people. Who gets to decide where the NPC goes? What if someone else wanted that spot? Stuff like that is why whatever rules HC comes up with will never be good enough for everyone. They can't please everyone here and they shouldn't be trying to in my opinion. It's a no win situation for HC and I don't think we should be asking HC to do it. If they're going to include one person, then they'll need to include everyone as that's the only equal and fair way to do it since everyone who has passed on has family and friends and is worth remembering. Sadly, there's quite a few of us who can name at least one person we knew from the game who has passed away that had some impact on us. That makes everyone worthy in my book. I'll say again, I think building a memorial in the base editor is the best option. Friends and loved ones can collaborate and build a memorial they feel best represents the person(s) they want to remember. I like the idea of adding the holo emitter to the base editor specifically for this purpose. Hell, you could even make entire AE arcs with the persons character as contact or in the story to tell others all about them and let them team up with that person's character. They'll be immortalized forever in there.
  21. Only a matter of time before the official announcement now https://www.superherohype.com/news/589249-avengers-5-6-doomsday-scarlett-johansson-marvel-return-rumor
  22. I think this is the best solution. Anything of this nature is going to have to be done by players. As much as I agree with the spirit of the overall suggestion, I don't think the HC folk should spend any time considering adding any kind of memorial area and/or statues/plaques to the game. Plaques with people's names require maintenance to add new names. Nor would any policy they come up with that spells out who is or isn't worthy of remembrance or immortalizing in the game isn't going to satisfy everyone. It would just lead to disappointment, arguments and hurt feelings when someone's friend or loved one isn't deemed "worthy" of inclusion. I think people need to remember this isn't "our" game or "our" server - it's theirs, and if they want to add NPCs into the game of their close friends or family who have passed away, they certainly can. I've no problem with that at all. Yes, it would be really wonderful if everyone who has passed on can get their character immortalized in game, but I don't see that happening. I think engaging with a couple of base builders to put together a memorial space that can be shared would be the best solution. Maybe the HC people could even copy it to each server so it doesn't need to be rebuilt on every shard.
  23. No, they don't always cry out for help, and I do have my chat window option with NPC dialogue on the active tab. There are some NPCs that do call out, others who don't or you essentially have to be within 6 inches of them in order for them to say something. It would be preferable to have them cry out from a much farther range.
  24. It would be really terrific if hostage NPCs could call for help if you're within targetable range of them. One of the absolute worst things about running the antiquated story content in this game is the godawful time sink missions where you've got to search the city maps for hostages. I really don't have the spare time that I used to, and aimlessly wandering around trying to uncover every pixel of a map to locate a hostage is just painful. Yes, I know about targetcustomnext, but that doesn't always work well. Might also be a nice inf sink P2W temp power - "hostage locater" or something. Can we please get NPC hostages to cry out for help if you're near them?
  25. He went on a "cultural appropriation" woke rant about someone non-asian selling boba tea. https://people.com/simu-liu-accuses-boba-brand-of-culture-appropriation-in-viral-clip-dragons-den-8730049 In short, he's another clueless Hollywood moron.
