Honestly them running it this way has been the best thing to happen to me in awhile. Because of how disagreeable things have been these last 2 years I’ve been focusing a lot on other things and even looking into other entertainment like a Steam Deck. Never would of considered it if things weren’t going the way they are

Yes. Low HP with regen power means its leaving a lot to be desired, and the recharge is rough so its really a Wish.com version of Soul Absorption or whatever its called in Darkness Affinity.

I also used to use discord for pathfinder in college during COVID. It wasn’t great being honest but it was all we had before they let us back on campus.

Im getting there! 5 years in the makin’ 😀 I can understand why. Discord is kinda not the best at onboarding new users to its benefits and UI imo, and I’m on the younger side of the audience of CoH. Also, to continue, a lot of CoH players are older and set in the ways of old fashioned communication via forums, and prefer this over having to learn discord and keep up with all the chatter therein throughout the day. You can post here, go off to work or what have you, and come back and interact a bit then call it a day.

I’m in a discord with my brother and a few of our friends and my brother doesn’t really play CoH anymore and none of our friends ever played. We’ll just talk shit and chill in the discord between games. If I’m using discord in CoH, its because of HM runs. And that’s only been twice. Other HM runs were without discord. It’s very rare to join a group I think running discord in the wild. Not impossible, I think I’ve been in one before and they invited me to join in but I wasn’t really into discord at the time. But its literally just been that one time.

I know on LGTF 4*, it was a learning run so had to get a feel of the fights, which imo aren’t hard but you still need to put forth a little effort kind of learning what’s exactly damaging you. So, this meant my Cold/Ice wasn’t contributing at max efficiency. I did alright, but the rest more familiar with the TF carried in that instance. But on Aeon? Nah I ripped for sure. But thats because I’m absolutely familiar with that and ITF. My point being, putting in the literal minuscule amount of effort to get familiar with the content is part II of making a contributing HM toon. Part I, the build? Easiest part imo. I smacked a HM build together with no mids. For any role(I have HM viable everything from tank to DPS. Hell even HM viable CC.) it’s seriously not hard. Unlike other MMOs with complex builders and nuanced meta it’s pretty laid out and solved here. At least till the procalypse comes.

If people are using discord they usually only advertise in said discord so you more than likely would never know they’re even in it & be on that team in the first place.

Elitism tends to get thrown around so much in this community that it leads me to believe its simply the person being salty they weren’t included and hoping by throwing out a buzzword they’d get others to agree with them and their wildly off base arguments. Not always the case, but usually.

I don’t have all day anymore to just dedicate to CoH like I did as a kid and don’t want to dedicate a good number of my recreational hours to the game either, so I don’t steamroll HMs. But I do respect your perspective LR. It’s pretty cool you have a crew to run with! Hope that continues for you 🙂

They closed access down temporarily as leaks were getting out. On one hand I do want more testers in but on the other hand I don’t think a lot of people would test so much as leak potential changes and complain about ones being proposed without testing. I see this happen a LOT in CB

Thing is I never said I was leaving, I said CoH isn’t my only game and I have options, which I guess they take to mean I’m leaving. Crazy how having options and not being ingratiated to a volunteer team means you’re quitting. I’d never announce me leaving, I just leave. Never liked the song and dance of making a post and making a scene over a departure. Being honest, I think a good deal of people here either only play CoH or play it as their main game which, I mean, great! Good for you! They’ll see a post like mine and take offense because maybe they view it as me attacking HC who gave them their favorite/only game back, and thats honestly not my intent. I just speak candidly about the team and CoH itself, I try and even mix in praises if its due, as is the case w/Marine Affinity. And my criticisms aren’t nearly as harsh as they have been in the past.

I can understand where you’re coming from, just like I definitely understand projector and can empathize as i have lead a good number of 3’s & 4’s. Its exhausting…just utterly exhausting. And why I don’t lead it anymore, that and what I am about to follow this up with is why. The reason you see meta comps besides the efficiency it brings in time to complete, is also because of artificial difficulty. Some here may disagree with me but after beating games where that shit doesn’t fly(Lies of P & Black Myth Wukong)and fair challenge is the name of the game, I just look more at what CoH HM is and go, “Yep! Got a good case of AD here”. It’s jacked up stat boost that, while not outright requiring meta comps, makes you notice and regret not doing so, as has even been attested to in this very thread. But thats not all. Barrier lets you ignore 100% of the difficulty of the HM content in ITF and Aeon, and 99.9% in LGTF(can’t ignore suits and gas) . Ergo, my claim of artificial difficulty. If in a game you can ignore the danger of a fight via an easily obtainable power or item, and there are minimal mechanics to counterplay but enemies are sacks of HP and stats, you have artificial difficulty. While fun to run with certain people because it’s quick and efficient, HM is artificial difficulty incarnate. Which is my second reason why I don’t lead these anymore. And why I was on the way out of even running them to begin with(saw a discord invite for Elysian Guardians and ran a few with them. They seem very chill with it)

Never! 😮 I think a lot of people forget about what I said. They don’t owe you, very true. But you absolutely don’t owe them anything. If they don’t want to be transparent, absolutely their right to do so, but if that’s what I need in a game dev group, then I also reserve the right to just dip. Also, I would never make a long winded goodbye post fab 😛 or a goodbye post at all, I’d just pull what I did with CO and dip quietly. Those long winded goodbyes are for community leaders(as it should be. Them leaving is heavily impactful to the game overall)

No I won’t. My time is also a privilege. If they decide to rescind theirs I rescind mine. You act like Xbox and PS5 aren’t popping off with games and top tier gaming PC’s aren’t becoming more common/Steam Deck isn’t popping off with its’ expansive and frankly amazing library. They don’t owe me anything but I sure as SHIT don’t owe them. Too many better options and too little time to be going back n forth or screaming into a void.

Its quirky, I like it. Will wait on reviews but it has Invincible in it which I’m a sucker for so it has that going for it for me.

It was very fun to run with you Projector through LGTF and Aeon 4*’s. My mind hasn’t changed on the nature of HMs and my main issue with them, but issues aside, it’s still pretty enjoyable if you’re playing with a group of neat folks.

OP, even though they seem to display serious narcissism and main character syndrome, it sucks that they got booted at the tail end of the TF. Which is weird. I don’t know if they were using GF all throughout the TF, and if so why not boot them at the beginning? Or if it were used in that one mish and then the incident occurred in which case OP subscribed to the FAFO method. Thats the only way I could see this being two sided, otherwise its pretty cut n dry.

Psst. Your MM isn't helping anywhere near as much as you think it was. Your bots can take a hit and literally almost DPS would be lost. You'll be fine champ 😉

The jokes write themselves with OP. I truly don't think they're capable of grasping they were wrong. Well subsequent boots and potentially being blacklisted from runs will result in more main character syndrome post like this, or them quitting. Either way this'll be interesting to watch for sure.

This response right here is just what I was talking about on the discord. People who have this main character syndrome and have no understanding or care for others then always acting like the victim. You fucked around and found out, pretty simple open shut right wrong case here. They asked you to stop, you thought you were better and said no, you found out. Pretty simple if you ask me. It’s not on them, it’s really all on you in this situation.

Also remember, the companies want you in game longer to peddle more microtransactions at you or boost their numbers for the bottom line. Which makes sense. That does NOT mean they will provide an actually enjoyable leveling experience. They'll probably just put a bunch of busy work lukewarm quest or missions that are some of the worst aspects of gaming personified(fetch quest, kill 100 boars in a forest, more fetch quest...). So if that's what y'all want go for it. It worked for WoW apparently, all those fetch quest and boar killing.
