  1. OP Your best bet if you want a solid build is to use Icesphere's build or even better, play around yourself in mids. It's the only surefire way to learn. I personally make my own builds, they lean meta heavy so proc builds that basically shit out damage, but baven't done so on a sent as I kinda just don't feel like making another sent tbh. If you make a build though I'll be sure to look at it if you want! (When I get the chance) Also, take your melee epics. Sents do better damage than before the buff but you still need your melee epics as that is still most of your damage. If you see a build without one, or chasing def on a res based set, it is a huge red flag and DO NOT USE THAT BUILD or take their advice. RUN! Res armors have no DDR(defense debuff res) so first grade logic will tell you defense on those sets will get shredded by any enemy who debuffs defense.
  2. Yep, I’m aware. Even still, I didn’t care about merits as they weren’t at the amount of tips necessary for a morality mish. Just extremely bored while oblivion downloaded.
  3. Funny this topic came up. While I was downloading the Oblivion remaster, I decided to pop over to CoH on my cold/ice. I joined a redside tip team, which was alright. I only got a few notches on my vill side alignment meter, no merits. Got a vet level though which was ok I guess. Point being, while I'm definitely not against merits for collaborative completion of arcs, sometimes I personally team if I'm well and truly bored while waiting for other games to download on my consoles. Teaming has its' incentive; Pass time and not be horribly bored while doing so(probably. Some content in this game is just straight up boring)
  4. Oh uh....definitely not. But it's....somewhere along the time table I think
  5. That lie is the flat earther theory of CoH. Use your eyes people. Look at the threat modifier of a MM vs a Brute and the answer should be clear who was always meant to be the tank. I think the T3 henchie only has a threat level of maybe 3? MM cant hold aggro reliably and pets die to a fart. How exactly was that gonna tank the likes of the freedom phalanx in LRSF back in the day? Also common sense moment. Brutes had Taunt. I…how do people see this then create the lie about MMs being tanks? None who believe this objective lie can even link a dev saying it.
  6. Yes, all the time. I just don’t type it in team chat.
  7. I have a strong belief it is real. And I probably will buy it, but man do I have a lotta games to get through this year and also to buy lol. Still gotta get ahold of First Beserker Khazan
  8. Hey folks! Since we have other threads similar to this in the form of Son of Jukebox and what have you, I figured why not make one for vidya games! Similar concept. What games are you playing currently? What games have you beat? What are you looking forward to? Lemme know below! I’ll start. Just finished South of Midnight which had phenomenal art and music and a pretty decent story. Currently looking forward to Wuchang fallen feather, Expedition 33, Another Crab’s Treasure NG+, Ninja Gaiden 4 and Doom the Dark Ages. And possibly that Oblivion remake.
  9. I hope it’ll be on gamepass, seeing as its a first party title
  10. I have it. My cold/ice proc bomb build. Great damage and very fun. Cost me 788 or so mil to make though
  11. I never interacted with those other MMOs RP communities, but did play WoW for a time a long while back during the shutdown. All I'll say is give it a few months, you'll see what everyone is talking about when they say PD is basically goldshire or whatever its called in WoW. Maybe worse. I personally experienced creeps trying to ERP with me because I was passing through PD on my female troller. Not even RPing, passing through. This community is not even close to better than any other MMO. They just obnoxiously think they are, which makes them considerably worse.
  12. I think there's failure to look at the big picture here and/or putting all your eggs in one basket going on. The CoH servers, all of them will die off. When? Can't say as im not sure. But they most assuredly will. There isn't even a guarantee there'll be more, or at least more of substance. Successors, while on the surface look like they'd be superflous now, actually could very well be crucial down the line.

  14. My mindset with CoH, since that's the game played here, is to balance it like MH Wilds. Now you may be thinking: "They're very different games!"(if folks even know what MH wilds is). And you'd be right. When I say balance like wilds, I mean don't focus entirely on numbers, overcome biases against certain sets, and anchor your changes in relation to the gameplay loop, while also seeking to cultivate an engaging and satisfying loop. CoH does not currently do this. They balance by...well I'm not sure but there's for sure a detachment somewhere in the process. As i describe CoH right now to friends, I say it's pretty miasmic and dreary in changes to powers.
  15. https://www.gamesradar.com/games/third-person-shooter/helldivers-2-director-says-balance-is-a-myth-and-devs-shouldnt-spend-more-than-5-percent-of-their-time-on-it-if-you-balance-out-all-the-chaos-youve-made-an-uninteresting-game/ It’s almost crazy that this article was brought to my attention in a discord I’m in. A bit serendipitous when it comes to CoH, especially in regard to this upcoming page and prior pages. Helldivers 2 lead talks about game balance and its’ role in game design. Frankly I agree with his take. What are your thoughts?
  16. The people who valiantly defend this game and are toxic positivity incarnate do so probably for the reason listed above; it’s their only game. They defend it because really they have nothing else to compare it to and nowhere else to go once this thing gets shut down. So, they view all criticism as a personal attack and also are afraid if enough criticism is lobbied the people running the game might leave(I mean, I think there was an instance of a dev leaving because of a lot of criticism but that was way back in 2019-‘20) so they tend to get prickly.
  17. I’d imagine I’m one of the more hated people on these forums or at least on half of people’s ignore list(who are also most likely on mine). Received a few demerits, but that’s besides the point. To round it back to the article, I read it, and honestly a good deal of the stuff in it I have seen here and in closed beta. But especially here. Lots of people just trying to shut down discussion around their discontent with how development is going(sensible discussion at that) with “be grateful the game is back”.
  18. Since no one seems to know what it means, here’s an article to help: https://adaa.org/learn-from-us/from-the-experts/blog-posts/consumer/toxic-positivity bout the most official source I can find on the term.
  19. You’re new here. You’re right about the George Carlin quote. None you understand what that word means (Toxic Positivity) and are misusing it to, funny enough, try and dismiss toxic positivity(claiming it’s a hoax, making up definitions for the word, etc) I’ll raise you another saying. A hit dog will hollar and you lot are howling right now. To the thread(not really you new guy, you don’t know enough about this community and are fresh here). Relax, it’s just an article. *Edit: New guy, I’m glad you’re enjoying your experience in CoH. Hopefully that continues for you!
  20. Eh…10 times, just about. MH Wilds is out and I’m taking a hiatus from CoH outside of CB testing.
  21. Completely agree. The asinine cult like personality that has surfaced around this game is utterly insufferable if you actually intend to try and have discussions around the game that aren’t just: ”Isn’t HC great? All hail the volunteers!”
  22. Yeah see no. Almost every suggestion HAS been met with the “its too difficult/code doesn’t allow it” bullshit. So much so it translates to, “I don’t like this idea so i’m going to try and shut it down with this statement”. I personally don’t agree with this idea, but since I and none of you know this code base, I will refrain from saying specifically it is too difficult to do. I do know however that this wouldn’t move the needle. OP, what you’re trying to target but indirectly is trying to refresh the low level gameplay loop. But that’s the thing; you can’t. Not without major gameplay overhauls, which I doubt will occur. The loop itself is antiquated compared to a lot of modern day MMO experiences. Even WoW offers a more interesting leveling experience and had to revamp its low level experience a bit. Not impossible, but I doubt it would happen.
  23. Killing a boss and its' minions is in no way shape or form ever tactical. Its literally just smacking up a specific mob. That's not tactical, especially if said mob is effectively no different than the fodder you've seen in the map which is usually the case. Thats pretty much the only thing baffling me. Do people really think smacking up the same type of mob but with a nametag is tactical? Speeding to it can be I guess but strangely enough, while people seem to hate kill alls, they always treat these type of mishs as a kill all instead of speed 😂
  24. It's fascinating to watch people cling to archaic forms of minmaxing as if they understand the concept as it is today. 45% def waa never minmaxing on ATs with no DDR. It was, as most advice on the forums is with builds, misinformation that got perpetuated over and over again as to become a norm that should have never hapoened. I admit to falling for this misinformation myself when the relaunch happened in '19. But you have to look at the bigger picture. In a team, you will be buffed out the whazoo with so many stats that your pursuit of 45% will have been meaningless, and left you with oodles of lost DPS. All the while my procc'd 4* Cold/Ice fender will be shredding mobs while you pluck away at a boss for 5 minutes, because I chose to observe the current minmax meta; procs and damage with def being covered by the team. Some will try and argue they can pump out comparable damage with the 45% def toon to a procced out meta build in a team setting; you can't. Minmaxed proc builds obliterate 45% def builds in every single way possible with attack chains hitting for 400+. And thats on the low end before factoring in native damage and AT modifiers. My point being, the forums needs to catch up with and understand the current meta before trying to comment on and change the definition of proper minmax in relation to CoH. *Its also not meta to 45% def cap solo. Insp will cover any and all def you can want while ALSO pumping damage and acc.
