  1. Its you non minmaxers who whine and get shit ruined, not us. We’re trying to HELP your asses. There are a lot more of you than us and since most non minmaxers dont know half of what they’re talking about or literally talk too goddamn much things that WOULD be awesome get removed and “fixed” or don’t make it in at all. I’m in CB, a lot of non minmaxers are also in CB, and are a lot more vocal than me, or rather cheerlead and shout louder so my ACTUAL tested feedback gets drowned out, as does the sparse other minmaxers, in a wave of nauseating nonsense and drab memes/“jokes”. So if you’re pointing fingers, get it right at least.
  2. It does the opposite effect. If every power is good then you actually see more build diversity not less. What you're agreeing with is literally cookie cutter building. I think this community hears gaming terms and then tries to use them without understanding what they mean or what it looks like, because that's a pretty clear cut example of what they were arguing against. 5 or 6 core powers means people will only pick those 5 or 6 powers, and will only serve to further stifle diversity, esp if those other 3-4 are simply too niche(which is easy to do in a game like this) to warrant a pick outside of RP builds. I get the idea, I really do, but what that looks like in practice is the opposite effect. Instead by makong every power good but still unique, you end up with less forced picks and more of a "impossible to fail" kinda situation.
  3. 4 star isnt any different mechanically from 1-2, just bigger stats is all. Personally I find it artificially difficult since even with those inflated stats 100% of the content can be ignored via barrier cycling. Some 4 stars also have secret fights like the vanguard fight in Aeon and Omega Kong in LGTF. Neither are particularly challenging, but you will have to do a run to learn them first.
  4. I get the idea but I counter the bandwagon fallacy with, well im not a psych person, but perhaps theres a fallacy for envy almost? But thats kinda the best way to describe it. Like the kid who was ostracized lamenting the popular kids or the one person who doesnt enjoy a certain activity in a group who isnt included when said group enjoys doing the activity hating it. I know, not even close to a great example, but it’s the best I have. Yes WoW is more popular and that may not always translate to everything being better than CoH but having played it, it is better at least imo from a gameplay perspective. There are more things to do in WoW, there is more of a puzzle to figuring characters out across specs instead of CoH where you slot the same IOs across the same power types to minmax, and of course the endgame is more pronounced. Some would say better, some find it worse, but objectively there is more to WoW than CoH in content to engage with and content variety. I think WoW is hated in part for the infamous endgame toxicity which I can understand. But ofc thats not all groups, and tbh I’m very skeptical of the stories that have been recited here on the forums in the past. I find some exaggerated, as sometimes to this community telling someone to bring Barrier to 4 star is considered elitist and toxic so I kind of wonder what REALLY happened in that WoW raid group ya know?
  5. Whats funny is most of the forums builds are poorly optimized and not even remotely minmaxed. They all focus entirely too much on personal survival without understanding in a team or even solo you’re holding yourself back by pursuing 45 def on that blaster instead of 20-30 at most. Its why you’ll never see a 45 def person in any meta four star team. I still can understand the OP’s idea though and lamentations. It’s why I don’t think I personally will be making any more 50s and will be taking a content sabbatical until maybe the next HM is released, and even then probably still for awhile after. Minmaxing in this game took any discovery out of it as it’s completely solved. There are objective best ways to build, and minmaxers know what they are in current meta. Nothing really has changed in the last 5 years to shake this up which is totally fine, but rough on a minmax mindset
  6. Try minmaxing. Make proc bomb builds with 20ish def and watch your enjoyment skyrocket.
  7. There was never any challenge to begin with, even before deep sleep with a well played Mind. Or any toon for that matter.
  8. Same. Even had me potentially interested in one day revamping my mind/dark dom to include the other revamps to mind, like the new TK clump
  9. CoH isnt going to grow if you get your way and it isn’t going to die if you don’t get your way. HC has made some imo mind meltingly stupid decisions and even THOSE have barely moved the needle. This game will continue because quite simply a lot of people are diehards for it. Outside of HC straight up quitting theres almost no way it’ll shut down. Also there’s four ways to solve end even before teaming and quite a few have been said already but to add: -Ageless -Carry blues -Slot quintessential +End and recov IOs -Survival amps.

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2025/06/08/xbox-handheld-rog-ally-x-games-showcase/ Old news at this point but what are your thoughts on this? I personally am hoping to nab one by its’ launch date, and the Pres of Xbox stated games like Silksong would be playable day one on the handheld(could mean the game launches after the handheld release but I have Silksanity hope.
  11. I REALLY wish more people in this community understood this last part. I also 100% agree. Just because another server did it doesnt mean you cant do your own take. I get there can be some legal snafu, but on what grounds would they even sue? They’re also, at that time, operating an illegal server. And the whole “giving them ammunition to have the server taken down” Oh, because it being illegal wasn’t enough? Lmao. At this point, with my jaded hermit hat on, I think its ego based. This will naturally rub a lot of people the wrong way but thats my .02
  12. When the game relaunched I tried getting buddies into it, they took one look, said nope and I never pushed em to try it again. I personally now would never try and get someone to try CoH who never tried it before, but if however someone was already familiar with CoH and played it in the past, I'd try as best as possible to give them an overview of the server, the current dev team and their patch history, and let them decide themselves.
  13. Oh BTW the HC content devs are well aware the majority of players want chill and laid back content, and have no plans to, as far as im aware, make the game noticeably more difficult. They are adding HM content because there really wasnt any beforehand and it gives some kind of challenging endgame for those who want it within whats possible for CoH, but thats not going to be the entire game. Alls to say, rest assured CoH will remain casual, which again, I too enjoy.
  14. Its not even hard games, a lot of people in this community don’t know about ANY games and legit just throw out Dark souls if any other mechanic or anything is brought up. Oh and WoW. But to address the other quotes, I said specifically I enjoy soulslikes yes. But what I also added was crash bandicoot as an example of a non soulslike game. Another I’m enjoying is Hollow Knight, another non soulslike. Crypt Custodian was another. To be perfectly clear: There are a litany of other games that are more difficult than Souls. Some soulslikes are, but ignoring them, there are platformers harder, turn based games that are harder(E33 is a perfect example), and there are lots easier but still more difficult than CoH. Like Hades, Balatro, [Redacted]… My main point was my gripe with people only using souls games like dark souls as a form of difficulty. Also just because I mentioned I liked soulslikes doesnt defeat any point. 😂
  15. I always have to ask, do you all know there are difficult games that ARENT dark souls or do you all legit think those are the only difficult games? Thats my only gripe with these post. There are so many other challenging games, and souls games actually rank pretty mildly among them really. There are soulslikes and platformers harder than the entire souls series. I get examples n all but idk I just wish more were used, like the tried n true Crash Bandicoot 🤣 Admittedly, this stems from my own frustrations that every time I say BASIC MECHANICS should be added to certain fights in the game im met with the "Go play Dark Souls". It gets to be annoying and when those people would hit me with that my instinct says they don't play anything but CoH, because literally everyone else in modern gaming understands that there are plenty of games harder than the souls lineup. Hell, I'm playing one now that is and played a few months ago that were. They're very common actually. All that said I still appreciate how chill CoH is for the most part.
  16. Whenever I did log in, it was usually for about 30 minutes give or take? Or maybe 45 if im people watching. It was too sporadic to say how often though, as sometimes it would be twice in a week, or recently 3+ months since my last log in. That was my stance a few months ago as of the new year at least for live servers. Now, I hop on the beta whenever a new page is put to Closed beta and test whatever new set or big thing is added, then don’t play for 6+ months other than to on a lark out of sheer boredom do a radio maybe, and log off.
  17. Im gonna disagree slightly here. There is mastery in the form of IO usage sure, but there is no incentive or reward for it. So to me, there effectively is no mastery in the game. Whether you clear in 5 minutes or 30, you still get the same reward. There is also usually a CD period in the most valuable content(i.e iTrials and HM) where this mastery should shine the most. Also there is no depth to skill expression in this game on two fronts. Whether it's wacky builds in a team or minmaxed builds, in a team of 8, your individual skill expression is moot. Solo, I can say sure there's some there, but thats as simple as do you use insp or not as even with seriously wacky builds face tanking is the same as minmaxers with insp usage as they'll probably be hovering around the same level of defenses, that is to say, little to none. CoH is basically Stardew Valley that some people want everyone to take seriously(some argue for big boy difficulty which will never be a thing in this game as even the hardest content is miles behind modern games let alone modern MMO standards).
  18. The thing I like about CoH HC is that I don't have to play it. Now that the raging at that sentence has simmered down 😛 let me seriously elaborate. I don't NEED to play it. In today's day and age of MMO, the goal is to keep subs at all cost. So we end up with chores in a video game, which lmao hell no. These days, as far as gaming is concerned, im almost solely on Xbox talking with friends and playing titles I missed alongside most new releases. Naturally this means months or probably going forward, years of not playing the additions to CoH. Yet, you'd never know because there isnt some limited time event(outside of seasonal stuff which Idrc anyway and/or already have) or Weekly you need to keep track of. This next one is going to appear cheeky of facetious to folks here but it's not. Thanks to the changes to powers, I have been taking advantage of gamepass and really expanding my skills in my favorite hobby; gaming! I have played more soulslikes and metroidvanias and turn based games than I ever played back in 2019-2023, all thanks to my personal disagreement with powers changes. Hell, I'd miss the game of a generation today(E33) if it weren't for the powers changes in these pages. Seriously, these changes have forced me to learn how to handle(even if it may not always appear as such on the forums/discord) things outside of my control in a much better manner, and how to find alternatives. It also keeps me excited for future pages, because it's a gamble of what new set may come and will it be enough to draw me back enough to add CoH into my entertainment schedule.
  19. I have. They're terrible tbh. And I love salads! But yeah those are shit.
  20. No they wouldnt they hate anchovies. Why cant you people understand someone just doesn't like something and wont play it? THEY. DONT. LIKE. ANCHOVIES. No matter how they're used, no matter where they are, they hate em. The simple response if you disagree instead of being stubborn as hell is to *gasp* accept they dont like it, and stop trying to force them to try something they dont like. I mean goddamn... Why is this hard to understand? *Not directed entirely at you Flea, just the overall mentality I see so often. Look, if you all disagree with the feedback thats fine, but please stop suggesting they try something they know for themselves they wont like. I dont like the plant changes. I acknowledge the set isnt complete trash and can clear +4×8 still. I still will be shelving my plant and never touching the set ever again. Trying to get me to play the set is suggesting I waste my time. Same with OP
  21. And I've heard the cheerleaders misread and sycophantically defend this game for years because its the only one they play. Whoopdie doo. Its a never ending roundabout at this point. Even before the first real patches rolled in I felt the relaunch of CoH was a big mistake and the shutdown was the best thing to happen to CoH, and I loved what P. Studios was doing at the time AND what HC was doing. I buried the gut feeling but looking now I see my fears were well founded and now I make another prediction: This game will be noticeably worse than Champions Online by the end of whatever cycle it reaches. It wont shut down and there won't be any DOOOOM to come to it, but it...well the best way to describe it is the Pixies when they took over Fairy World in Fairly odd parents as a kid; a grey, drab sterilized game
  22. Exactly this. In early CoV days it was 7 corrs and a brute. Honestly the meta didnt change almost at all despite these balance attempts because they dont actually target a root cause, just make up some fear mongering bullshit, go after a not even remotely OP set, get the easily fooled community to parrot stupid shit ad infinitum, then wash rinse repeat until the whole game is shit. This happened with champions and I called it would happen here. We'll see if I end up being right but lemme tell you all left here, you won't like what that looks like. You can see it now on Champs forums(which will also be not recieving any more updates as they pivot to only discord updates lmao). I mean, this really sucks though. Thought CoH would be in my rotation of games for as long as I'm alive and now I barely log in and really only test CB things thanks to changes like these. Yeah disgruntled players make posts, but think about how many more leave unannounced and how word of mouth affects the chances of a larger playerbase.
  23. Homogenization is bad for the long term health of a game(eugh, hate sounding like a arm chair dev but alas). If EVERYTHING is the same, why tf would I make any more than 1 50? If im not(and im not) an RPer looks wont carry me enough to make a new toon. Especially if I know it's effectively the same as my first 50. Homogenization of enemies is even worse tbh. I'd get bored, and certain groups would be horrid for early levels and then become nothing burgers for the rest of the game. The natural sense of progression would be all out of order and just miserable
  24. Why is PvP blamed? What the fuck do you people think this game has for a PvP pop? Can yall not understand this game is an insignificant fleck of an atom in the MMO landscape and has no PvP pop to speak of, let alone be loud enough to make demands. Nor would they advocate for Homogenization as that effectively solves PvP in the worst way possible by making it a boring grey blob? If anything, blame the HC powers devs. They have their own design goal and are stubborn as fuck and won't change even if faced with sound evidence to consider outside of small gives here and there. Or blame the players who refuse to learn how the game works and cry about this or that being OP when they just fucking suck. They whine enough and devs homogenize things to make them look less bad, except it fails because they STILL refuse to learn how the game works. Ending with the game being a boring grey glop instead of a varied and fun superhero MMO.
  25. No dev at any point said otherwise but I guess when Dunning Kruger takes effect and misinformation is perpetuated due to sheer ineptitude over 20 something odd years you start to think like this. Unfortunate. Having eyes and teaming with actually GOOD kheld players disproved this theory even before changeling but moreso after.
