  1. Not everyone farms purely for convenience though. I think this is a point that is lost among a lot of people.
  2. I understand that much and I understand one cannot AFK farm effectively in PI radios or portal missions as they can in AE. My question is more general than those couple of points. To hopefully clarify, my fire farmers are going to be able to mow through enemies with no risk in maps like Infernal's lair and such as they can in AE fire farms. My defense capped characters will mow through Council radios or Council portal missions just as easily as they would in S/L farms in AE with no risk. In that regard, there is no difference to me if I am farming in AE or PI or whether I fighting designed enemies or not. All this change is doing is making the old farming maps more desirable than AE, and those maps are going to be superior to anything else, just as AE was. It is replacing one map with another. The end result is the same. Personally, I alternated every so often between PI missions and AE farms for variety. Sure, AE was more convenient being all under one roof, but that is easily replaced by just keeping select portal missions and logging out in Portal corp instead of AE or Pocket D. Ultimately, I do not think this change is not going to drive people toward running a lot of other content, if that was one of the goals. Those who were interested in getting Vet levels and EMP merits and such from farming are just going to switch to another farming maps outside of AE. As I said, the net result is the same, they will still be segregated from everyone else, so I do not see any major difference here.
  3. Fair enough on the AFK farming. However, builds that soft cap defense are just as effective in PI portal missions as they are in AE farms, so I am not sure there is any real difference in that regard. Yes, they are close enough to be the same and other than convenience, I do not see any significant difference. That is essentially my point. If the activity is generally the same, what difference does it make whether this is taking place in AE or in PI or wherever else? Is going back to Council map farming going to solve the perceived problems here? I personally do not think so.
  4. To be fair, this is not the "play how you want to play" style as you were suggesting. I am just being honest here, I really see no difference in farming PI portal maps or radio missions as any different than farming in AE. They are both the same activity, just done in a different venue. It seems quite ridiculous to me to have wasted the time on removing Vet Levels and EMP merits from AE farming only to encourage farming outside of AE. I have yet to see anyone provide an acceptable answer as to what the real difference is. New players can just as easily hop on a PI portal farm and level to 50 as they could going to AE in Atlas Park. The end result is still the same, so in that regard, this change is a complete and utter waste of time in my opinion. If they want to stop farming, then have the courage, bite the bullet and just get rid of XP and inf from non-Dev Choice arcs in AE and be done with it. In doing so, accept the consequences of that action and accept it will drive a not insignificant amount of players away from the game. Those left can wonder where all those players went while trying to find seven other people to team with for content.
  5. Have to say this is very, very cool. Draw animations for Titan Weapons and Katana are a bit clunky but overall far superior to what we have now. Dual blades looks sweet! With Katana, it looks like the sword appears in the drawing hand briefly, disappears then is drawn as expected. Overall very nicely done! 😀
  6. I agree it looks very hokey. It seems like it is a strange variation on the weird run that the ghouls use in Praetoria. Definitely not something I would call "parkour" for sure. I understand that there is no changing it, so I guess all I can say is yes, it works. I also wanted to say the Tough walk looks off too. It seems like you have a load in your pants and are walking a bit funny from it. The rest all look good to me and work as expected.
  7. I suppose the inverse of this is that if a name you wanted was already taken, you could add the Xs to yours instead.
  8. Why not just have it update all characters as active on all shards upon login? There has to be some tie between account and characters on a shard.
  9. Look bad to whom? Again, friends who know you already know your global handle and would easily see it was not you. Your global handle cannot be used by another player.
  10. Well, many are advertised on the forums here and there are people who do advertise them in-game as well. Was not looking to start an argument over it. Just asking a question.
  11. This may get cumbersome to keep track of having to scroll through several pages of characters on the character select screen. Since it seems technically "impossible" to link account activity here, would it be possible to have a button on the character select to flag all characters as active? This would save the effort of logging in and out of multiple characters.
  12. City of Heroes is not Facebook (thank God), so the analogy does not work. Duplicate naming exists in other games I play like STO and I personally have never seen this problem. As you pointed out, the get global name command exists and most people will just ignore said person and see the global name getting added to their ignore list in the chat window. As far as someone spoofing the character of another person, I really do not see the issue here. Only speaking for myself here, but everyone I team with regularly already know me in real life and/or my global handles, so if someone were to be spoofing me my friends would know it was not really me. Add to that, the other account would be the one getting reported and moderated, not mine.
  13. This is now offering a disincentive for new players to experience and use any of the wonderfully crafted bases built by players that are open to the public. Was that the goal?
  14. Which begs the questions, why was this change needed in the first place and why is farming this better than just doing the same thing only in AE? Same activity, just a different venue.
  15. If your goal was farming Vet levels in AE then yes. For those people, all this change is going to do is shift them back to portal mission farming in PI. With that said, I personally do not see the necessity for this change and I feel it was a complete and utter waste of time to do.
  16. Could not agree more. This should be based on account inactivity, not character. "Because it is more difficult to code" is not really an acceptable answer in my opinion. This is a detriment/annoyance for role players and is just going to encourage people to rush to 50 to preserve a name.
  17. I did read your post and everything there is self inflicted. You can politely ask people to wait for you to get into a zone before entering the mission. Not at all difficult to communicate with those on the team. Just set the ground rules before you start and make sure everyone on the team is ok with them.
  18. Why not start your own TFs and set it to whatever difficulty you like? So long as you make the rest of the team aware and they are all ok with the settings, I fail to see what the problem is here. This seems to be a self inflicted problem.
  19. I have a friend trying to install the game on a Mac and she is receiving the following errors. I am not at all familiar with Macs so any help is appreciated. She followed the OSX instructions on the Installation Guide and also troubleshooting steps here and here. Anyone familiar with Mac that can shed some light on this? Is there some additional troubleshooting she can try? Thank you.
  20. Ok so it is very clear you are unable to have a rational, civil discussion, so I will just add this final piece and be done with you. I never said I am owed or entitled to anything. Yes, Amazon paid a large sum for the rights and they can do with it whatever they like. I am only pointing out that I can understand and agree with the point of view and frustration of the fans who contributed to making Tolkien's works such a huge international success. Were you to have actually read or listened to what the "writers" of this new series have said about the fanbase who do not embrace their narrative choices, you would understand my comment. Again, please do your research. It is all available online for you to easily find. Lastly, please learn to read. I already posted above that I will be tuning out. Good day to you.
  21. Well no, if you were to actually do your due diligence and research what the "writers" and "producers" behind the new series have written, spoken and posted on social media about fans who disagree with their creative choices, you would very clearly see the facts here. Authors who are writing the puff pieces for the show and trying to push a narrative on how "fandom needs to change" and are equating fans who speak up against the new series to fascists also paints a very clear picture. The thing is, when the source material and the lore is treated as if it does not matter, fans are going to let you know about it. When those fans are put down as trolls, haters or whatever negative isms you want to ascribe to them, it does not make the people distorting the property into the victims. Quite honestly, this is just plain silly.
  22. They both may say it, however it is more than abundantly clear to anyone with more than two brain cells only one means it. Peter Jackson's quote is spot on and entirely relevant. Arwen is the love interest for Aragorn and is part of the lore through the appendices. Clearly her story with Aragorn is crucial to his character, however Tolkien never found a good way to bring her into the main story. She is not some brand new character. I will not disagree that the Hobbitt films were disappointing and too far a departure from the source. That is my subjective opinion though. Also, keep in mind Jackson was not the original director for the films. Not every fan who questions the bastardization of their favorite IPs are part of some social media group. They just do not want to see their favorite stories and worlds altered to cater to modern political sensibilities. Not everything has to. Those who want to berate anyone questioning the direction of the new show should understand not everything has to be for everyone, and there is nothing wrong with Tolkien lore as it is. This is why it stands the test of time. Those people need to take a page from Brie Larson's playbook and understand that Tolkien was "not made for them" and move along.
  23. There is a rather important distinction to be made here between changes that Jackson and company made versus what Amazon is doing. One is trying to remain faithful to the theme and spirit of the source material while the other is not. "We made a promise to ourselves at the beginning of the process that we weren't going to put any of our own politics, our own messages or our own themes into these movies. ... In a way, we were trying to make these films for him, not for ourselves." - Peter Jackson The changes Jackson and the writers of his LoTR trilogy can be analyzed and discussed at length as to whether they are improvements or detriments. I would argue most were improvements. Arwen is a good example IMO. Yes, she was barely in the book proper, appearing in the appendices. With that said, she is absolutely essential to how Aragorn behaves, so yes, in that respect she is an important character to the overall story. Another good example is giving Faramir an actual character journey with the ring. Some examples of the absurd are the army of the dead helping to win the battle of Pelennor Fields. These are all of course subjective. Can the new series be enjoyed on its own merits? Sure, I imagine there are a few people out there who will like it. For me personally, I will be tuning out. I have read enough about the writers and their utterly toxic reaction and disdain toward fans of the IP who questioned their changes.
  24. No, you are definitely not alone there. I do the same as do the friends I team with. It is infinitely more fun to play fully decked out characters, even exemplaring. They just perform so much better than characters struggling on SOs and leveling up the old fashioned way.
  25. This has to be some sort of bug then. Precision dropping of multiple Kronos Titans on a specific location outside of where the zone in points are is the suspicious part. It is a long weekend. I am going to set up some spawns on a few characters to see whether or not I can trigger more than one at a time on single character. Can anyone say what zone this generally happens in more than others? I ask in case it is some sort of zone specific bug.
