I have a friend trying to install the game on a Mac and she is receiving the following errors. I am not at all familiar with Macs so any help is appreciated. She followed the OSX instructions on the Installation Guide and also troubleshooting steps here and here. Anyone familiar with Mac that can shed some light on this? Is there some additional troubleshooting she can try? Thank you.

Amazon's Middle Earth series
ShardWarrior replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Ok so it is very clear you are unable to have a rational, civil discussion, so I will just add this final piece and be done with you. I never said I am owed or entitled to anything. Yes, Amazon paid a large sum for the rights and they can do with it whatever they like. I am only pointing out that I can understand and agree with the point of view and frustration of the fans who contributed to making Tolkien's works such a huge international success. Were you to have actually read or listened to what the "writers" of this new series have said about the fanbase who do not embrace their narrative choices, you would understand my comment. Again, please do your research. It is all available online for you to easily find. Lastly, please learn to read. I already posted above that I will be tuning out. Good day to you. -
Amazon's Middle Earth series
ShardWarrior replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Well no, if you were to actually do your due diligence and research what the "writers" and "producers" behind the new series have written, spoken and posted on social media about fans who disagree with their creative choices, you would very clearly see the facts here. Authors who are writing the puff pieces for the show and trying to push a narrative on how "fandom needs to change" and are equating fans who speak up against the new series to fascists also paints a very clear picture. The thing is, when the source material and the lore is treated as if it does not matter, fans are going to let you know about it. When those fans are put down as trolls, haters or whatever negative isms you want to ascribe to them, it does not make the people distorting the property into the victims. Quite honestly, this is just plain silly. -
Amazon's Middle Earth series
ShardWarrior replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
They both may say it, however it is more than abundantly clear to anyone with more than two brain cells only one means it. Peter Jackson's quote is spot on and entirely relevant. Arwen is the love interest for Aragorn and is part of the lore through the appendices. Clearly her story with Aragorn is crucial to his character, however Tolkien never found a good way to bring her into the main story. She is not some brand new character. I will not disagree that the Hobbitt films were disappointing and too far a departure from the source. That is my subjective opinion though. Also, keep in mind Jackson was not the original director for the films. Not every fan who questions the bastardization of their favorite IPs are part of some social media group. They just do not want to see their favorite stories and worlds altered to cater to modern political sensibilities. Not everything has to. Those who want to berate anyone questioning the direction of the new show should understand not everything has to be for everyone, and there is nothing wrong with Tolkien lore as it is. This is why it stands the test of time. Those people need to take a page from Brie Larson's playbook and understand that Tolkien was "not made for them" and move along. -
Amazon's Middle Earth series
ShardWarrior replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
There is a rather important distinction to be made here between changes that Jackson and company made versus what Amazon is doing. One is trying to remain faithful to the theme and spirit of the source material while the other is not. "We made a promise to ourselves at the beginning of the process that we weren't going to put any of our own politics, our own messages or our own themes into these movies. ... In a way, we were trying to make these films for him, not for ourselves." - Peter Jackson The changes Jackson and the writers of his LoTR trilogy can be analyzed and discussed at length as to whether they are improvements or detriments. I would argue most were improvements. Arwen is a good example IMO. Yes, she was barely in the book proper, appearing in the appendices. With that said, she is absolutely essential to how Aragorn behaves, so yes, in that respect she is an important character to the overall story. Another good example is giving Faramir an actual character journey with the ring. Some examples of the absurd are the army of the dead helping to win the battle of Pelennor Fields. These are all of course subjective. Can the new series be enjoyed on its own merits? Sure, I imagine there are a few people out there who will like it. For me personally, I will be tuning out. I have read enough about the writers and their utterly toxic reaction and disdain toward fans of the IP who questioned their changes. -
No, you are definitely not alone there. I do the same as do the friends I team with. It is infinitely more fun to play fully decked out characters, even exemplaring. They just perform so much better than characters struggling on SOs and leveling up the old fashioned way.

This has to be some sort of bug then. Precision dropping of multiple Kronos Titans on a specific location outside of where the zone in points are is the suspicious part. It is a long weekend. I am going to set up some spawns on a few characters to see whether or not I can trigger more than one at a time on single character. Can anyone say what zone this generally happens in more than others? I ask in case it is some sort of zone specific bug.
-
Interesting. Could very well be a bug I suppose. If so, I hope it never gets fixed because that is just awesome! 😁
-
I was not there, so I cannot say for certain what happened. It very well could be someone from Homecoming playing on their non-admin account triggering something. There is simply not enough information. All I am doing is confirming it is possible to do a multiple Kronos spawn at the same spot.
-
That I am not sure about. I can tell you for sure that it is possible to spawn multiple Titans in a zone at the same place at once. It just depends on the method to get there (Oro/Base/LRT) although I think most of those all share the same zone in point now. It also could be that the Kronos does not spawn instantly when you zone in. It might take it a minute, so the player could have moved to your location before the Kronos spawned.
-
Depending on where Babbage spawns, he can be at the zone in point from either Oro portal or base portal or zone teleport.
-
Very simple. You have 10 people finishing the Wildflower mission at once and teleporting to the same zone at the same time. Not at all difficult to do. I have dual boxed two of my own doing this on occasion.
-
Yup. Definitely other players spawning it. We used to do this all the time back in the day. Friends and I used to spawn multiple Kronos Titans in a zone at once. Sadly, since the HC staff here stupidly moved all the zone in points, this is not really feasible in most all zones since the Titan gets droned before anyone can enjoy the festivities. Talos seems to be the best spot to do this. Very sad. This used to be a lot of fun to do a mass Titan spawn.

Yes, I do disagree with the comment. In my opinion, this game simply is not that difficult to master, regardless of AT.

If you have run the Dreck map six times, you have at least played the character which is a common complaint about farming. It all depends on what blend of badges would be required to unlock the token. The suggestion was offering a solution to the usual rant that the game is polluted by these mythical AE babies, who are fully decked out incarnates and yet do not know how to play. Sure, badges can be farmed, however if we are talking about things like accolades and such that require a few different badges, those need at least some level of player participation to complete. Unless you want to suggest that these mythical AE babies are soloing all the content required to obtain accolades, which does not make them inexperienced players anymore. The idea has some merit in my opinion. You are more than welcome to disagree.
-
Not difficult at all. The tokens could require a series of defeat and/or achievement badges as part of the requirement. You cannot achieve things like TF Commander or defeat badges inside AE farms.
-
I disagree entirely.
-
For starters, it is not all that difficult to earn that kind of influence. All this ludicrous price tag would do is encourage people to turn to gold farmers, which makes the suggestion even more ridiculous. It is also my understanding that the folks here at Homecoming refuse to have anything that would encourage gold farming. In one of the last discussions on this topic, I seem to remember someone (apologies as I do not remember who specifically) had suggested that the level 50 tokens be consumable on use and earned/unlocked through "normal", non-farming game play. Personally, I think that idea has merit.

Personally, I think the series started better than it ended. I did not care for this being an obvious setup for a Reva series. Overall I still enjoyed it. It was nice to see Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprising their respective roles. I think Christensen got a bad rap for the prequels and I am glad to see he has been redeemed now that fans know what real garbage is after the last 3 awful steaming piles of shit Star Wars INO films.

Brand new players getting instantly PL'ed to 50 right after the tutorial are an urban legend, like Bigfoot or Loch Ness. I have seen way more veteran players with years of game play under their belt who are still absolutely clueless on how the game works. The game itself does not do a very good job in teaching you how to play either, which is not at all a bad thing. People learn by trying, failing, then trying again, so complaining about it is rather silly in my opinion. Those pointing out that removing XP from AE would turn the game into even more of a ghost town are correct. All one need do is look at other servers out there that are set up to be more "classic" to the live servers. If they have 12 people on at any given time, that is a lot. The era of living in your parents basement playing MMORPGs 24/7 ended a long time ago.

Breathtaking! I shall call them... "Mini Mes"...
-
This is because the "writers" for modern Star Trek - I use that term for them very loosely - are nothing more than third rate hacks who lack imagination, creativity and any iota of cohesive story writing ability. Love him or hate him, while Trek was under Berman's watch, they were able to create all new characters and series from TNG to DS9 to Voyager to Enterprise by building upon the existing universe. They did not need all of the nonsensical fan service of having someone from TOS on the crew. Star Wars has the same problem for the most part. JJ Abrams is a talentless hack in my opinion. Kurtzman is just incompetent and lazy and his team of writers lack a basic understanding of Trek lore. I will bet real money none of them watched Star Trek other than one or maybe two episodes and one of the TNG films.

Amen. The less interaction anyone has with social media, the better.
-
While not entirely surprised, I was sadly disappointed with episode 5. It had some very cool moments, however this is shaping to be yet another disappointing Disney Star Wars story.

Alternatively, you can make use of the in game ignore function to ignore people who are disrupting the channel for you. Then you will not have to see their off topic chatter. The ignore function works beautifully.
