Basic mechanics are in no way preventing you from socializing and forming teams.

I do not thing PUGs today are any different than they were prior to sunset. We absolutely never required the trinity on any team. I specifically remember steamrolling Manticore, Sister Psyche, even Posi back in the day. Even Hamidon was easy back then once we figured out the right strategy. IOs play a part now in that they are more accessible. Prior to sunset, most people did not even use them given the absurd prices on them in the AH. This is a reason why I have suggested any new high level content should be designed for and balanced around IOs. Someone suggested earlier to use Kallisti Wharf as a new level 50+ zone. I think that is an excellent idea. It is a great place to start fresh with all new enemy factions that can be tailored for higher powered builds.

People who say they are incapable of finding like minded players are quite frankly full of crap. I belong to half a dozen channels and between those and LFG I have had no difficulty finding like minded players.
-
The game was never that well balanced. There were people soloing TFs long before there were IOs and Incarnates.
-
I personally do not see an issue with 8 level 50s being able to steamroll content. To me, this fits with the superhero theme. This is also why I and others have repeatedly suggested for new level 50+ content that is designed for and specifically balanced around IOs and incarnates. Until then, people can find all the challenge they are looking for and then some by forming their own teams and running the various challenging AE content available.
-
How? Am I somehow better than anyone else? How did all the people in the various channels I belong to find like minded players? I am absolutely not the only person who has done this.
-
Stop making random teams then. Socialize. Find like minded players and form teams however you like.
-
Why? I have had zero problem finding like minded players simply by playing the game. If I can do it, anyone can. This is in no way a difficult thing to do.
-
I am not suggesting anyone avoid teaming or PUGs. I simply suggest everyone find like minded players to enjoy the game in the way you all like together.
-
Why? Should ATs get nerfed because people can PUG 8 person blaster teams?
-
Nothing could be further from the truth.
-
That is a fantastic idea!
-
Yes, there was. Since there is only one TW power set in the game, quite obviously I am playing the same one everyone else is. I simply do not care for it.
-
No, but I do I like to correct ignorance and inaccurate information when I see it.
-
Hey all! Here is something I had put together a while back that I never wound up using. It is on Excelsior.
-
Clearly I am and clearly I have a preference in playing other sets. I do not like the momentum mechanic. It is ok for soloing although I prefer my StrJ character more, and it most certainly is not my choice for teaming up. I know it is difficult to have people disagree with you, but that is life.

Why would you expect people going into newly designed content balanced around IOs and incarnates to do well only in SOs? Many MMOs have raid tiers where you need to have a certain gear level in order to run it. This is not a foreign concept and the game already has this to an extent where incarnates need to be unlocked to run iTrials. Is it better/more fun to use various power pools and IO bonuses to attempt to soft cap defense on a blaster or is it going to be more fun to team with a defender who will get you there, leaving you more options for primary power picks to fulfill your primary role? That is up to the individual, which it should be in my opinion.
-
Criticizing someone for not having accurate data with your own wild suppositions is hypocritical. People can be a power gamer or not and be anti-nerf either way. Again, adjusting power sets is one thing, people in this very thread who have specifically called for global levels nerfs, complete removal of incarnate content and the like is entirely different.

I think it a bit premature to cry doom over this. To be honest, I rolled one and I simply do not see what all the fuss is about. It was painful to level and at 50 is so far out shined by faster sets, I just do not see where the appeal is personally.
-
My favorites are people doing stuff like the Petless MMs! You would think this would not be fun at all, but there are people out there enjoying it and more power to them!
-
The same applies. I can introduce you to several people who will make any AT/power set combo viable and fun to play.
-
Same experience for me. I mean, it is a fun set to play at 50 but I honestly do not see what all the fuss is about. Even at lower levels it is not as good as faster sets in my opinion.
-
I would argue they underperform all the time lol 😁 For anyone looking to roll Ninjas/Dark - do not do it. Trust me. 😂
-
The players who left en masse after ED, GDN, purple patch and the like disagree with you.

So much ignorance and incorrect things to unpack here.... First, you can already let every AT and every power set feel valuable on as many teams as possible in the current game. If you or anyone else does not feel useful, this is a self inflicted problem and there is a very simple solution - stop PUGing. Either stop PUGing where you will not know for certain who you are teamed with or what their build is and such or accept the fact that you are going to get what you get with regard to the team. PUG teams are a roll of the dice and we never know what we will get. Nerf herding to a degree is trying to rig the dice in my opinion. Serious questions - what exactly is keeping you or anyone from staying on a team where they feel inadequate or not needed? What is preventing you or anyone else from socializing, finding others who enjoy the game the same way, forming your own groups to team up and run content the way you like? Where are the forum posts here or on Reddit or wherever setting up "old school" teams? If there are truly this many people looking for "old school" styles of play, where are the requests for this in LFG or other team forming channels? I personally have yet to see a LFG request for "forming non-incarnate old school team". Take advantage of the existing tools here and elsewhere to make full use of the multiplayer in MMO and socialize. Put in the effort, it is worth it. Throughout the years across many, many MMOs I have put in the effort and found the time to make friends with like minded players and have a blast playing together. If I found myself on a team I did not like, I left to go do something else. Anyone can do this. Anyone. Secondly, I in no way, shape or form said anyone is "special needs" or insinuate anything of the sort. That is 100% a projection you injected into what I said and to be quite honest is a truly disgusting thing to say. Let me be even more clear - you can have every single AT and every single power set nerfed and homogenized to the point where they all do equal damage 100% of the time and there are still going to be players who outperform others. Those players are going to be able to do better because they are simply faster, have better reaction time or are more experienced, not because anyone else is stupid. My post was not counterproductive with regard to suggesting others form their own teams as I expressly said people can form their own teams. It is you, not me, who seems to be insinuating people are incapable of doing that. As to mentoring, I do mentor people all the time. However from what I am reading here, some people seem to think that if I am somehow built better or react faster or have more experience or just want to play differently than they do, I am "making them feel bad" or "useless" or I am just doing it to lord over them, which could not be further from the truth. If I am capable of destroying entire maps solo while we are on a team and it makes you feel bad, I am not the one keeping you there - you are. It is interesting that you say I am insulting to others while accusing me of calling others "special needs." Forming your own teams to play the way you like is also a very viable answer to fix the perceived problem. It is the option that gives everyone the capability to play the way they find fun together with others who enjoy the game as they do. As I mentioned above, go right ahead and homogenize every AT and power set in the game to the point where everything is 100% mathematically equal. Remove IOs or enhancements of every kinds so everyone is exactly 100% the same. There are still going to be players who out perform others. Feel free to disagree.
