  1. .... and what about people who might like what it has become now? Tough luck for them? I guess. Who would prefer the version where NPCs are just missing? The plan was always to replace Statesman with a fan created character. Also honestly Penelope Yin is much more dangerous than Psyche ever was. Maybe. But I doubt she's more dangerous alone than Psyche + Statesman. Replacing Statesman with a new OC Tanker would probably make the new LRSF as hard as the old one; slightly harder probably since Psyche is replaced by the more dangerous Penelope; especially since Positron has gotten a big boy buff as is fitting for the "face" of Blueside.
  2. .... and what about people who might like what it has become now? Tough luck for them? I guess. Who would prefer the version where NPCs are just missing? The plan was always to replace Statesman's place in the Freedom Phalanx (as the designated tanker) with a fan created character, though not as leader as that was Positron's permanent new position. A plan that I think HC should go through with. Also honestly Penelope Yin is much more dangerous than Psyche ever was.
  3. ...You're coming off as kind of fixated at this point, no offense. This is like almost every post you've put in this thread. I love to see big companies crash, burn, and die and can't wait for companies like EA and Activision perish from this earth. All the big companies are lining up to crash into a brick wall and send shockwaves through the entire triple A industry that have been coming for decades. It's gonna be awesome to see who survives and who dies when the bubble bursts.
  4. Activision-Blizzard's due for the most spectacular of train crashes in the early 2020s and my only response is that I wish I had a popcorn machine in my house.
  5. >Human form warshades better than Tri-form MF'ing purpled out warshades. Nice meme bro.
  6. This was not an issue when you couldn't cross over. Also let us know forget that the original devs intent was that masterminds were the tankers of COV. Not brutes. Granted the original devs dropped the ball on that one, the pets do not even give some form of aggro control. Which is something I wouldn't mind discussing in another thread, adding aggro and threat mechanics to mastermind pets to turn them into the villain tanks. People keep saying that and Jack Emmeret certainly believed it but Jack Emmeret was also a dithering idiot who genuinely believed that three minions should be a challenge for a twinked out endgame build. His dream of MM tanks simply did not work out that way, MMs do not have the aggro management to make good tanks but Brutes have plenty of aggro management. Most MMs also go for DPS and support, basically serving as super corruptors; few ever try taking hits for anyone else on the team. And finally, in I18 when side crossing was allowed...Brutes and Tankers shared ancillary/patron pools while Scrappers shared theirs with Stalkers and Masterminds shared theirs with Blasters (or close enough to Blasters anyway).
  7. I dunno man, Warframe has an even higher player vs enemy power curve than CoX and has been going on strong for years; not even the strongest enemies can survive a Chrome Prime with a Rubico Prime for more than thirty seconds if they know what they're doing; and yet its the king of the lootshooter genre. I don't think as many people really mind high end builds being able to solo AVs as you think.
  8. I have a Rad/Rad brute and he works out like a dream. The free recharge from beta decay is very nice, and ground zero is a nice addittion to my attack chain to melt hordes.
  9. Paragon Studios had a plan to hold a contest to replace Statesman as FP's designated tanker with a fan created character. Positron would remain the leader of the team, but a process much like the creation of Numina would be outsourced to the fans. I think that should be done as a way of stamping Homecoming's own feel onto the game. Though personally I'd vote for the Ascendant; he was probably the best known fan-character, shares statesman's power set, and was already kinda canonised.
  10. Uhhh...everyone everywhere (except purpled out warshades who are always at the damage cap) likes assault for more damage and tactics to miss less. Then peel back and grab manoeuvres.
  11. My own suggestion would be to expand on bruising because it's a cool enough mechanic that doesn't really come into much use due to its limitations. I was thinking like giving each attack bruising, with the first attack having 30-40%, other attacks having 20-25%, and AoEs having 5-10%. This would help give the Tanker a very "tarpit" feel and also make having more than one tanker on a team more useful as they spread out that -resistance love to weaken enemies and make them take incoming hits harder. That's the big thing about tankers at the moment; more than one tanker is extremely redundant in a way you don't get with any other AT.
  12. Pretty decent if you need energy because it can slot two samples of preformance shifter and can boost your maximum endurance.
  13. I was also wondering if Bows could get a similar treatment.
  14. WP isn't really comparable to Invulnerability; its mitigation is based more on its tremendous regenerative capacity rather than the wombo combo of decent resists (and extremely good S/L resists) and typed defence that Invulnerability uses. Invulnerability is probably more comparable to Energy Aura (typed defence with okayish passive resists), or Shield Defence (positional defence with okayish passive resists) than to WP, which is more comparable to Bio-Armour or Regeneration.

    Hover

Any set that offers defense for survivability pairs well with hover.
  16. Invuln is baby's first tanker primary for people new to the AT and just want to survive stuff. It's extremely easy to build, very forgiving, and exceedingly resilient. Dark Armour is punishing to level and requires you to know how to build for certain things, but its peak is obscenely good.
  17. I don't, actually. I think there's a massive, massive audience out there that's not interested in the F2P format, that has considerable disposable income, and would be more than willing to part with it if a new, classic-approach AAA MMO appeared. I mean, I know I would be thrilled to pay easily twice what WoW charges for a state-of-the-art, content-rich MMO that doesn't try to constantly upsell me. I suspect game developers are waiting for WoW to die (whether that comes from Blizzard lowering the curtain on it or not). Granted, this awesome new MMO might also be another Blizz game, but whoever it is will clean up. WoW's eventual death will kick off a new feeding frenzy. Bold of you to assume that Blizzard won't be shut down entirely in the 2020s as all studios devoured by big faceless evil publishers eventually are.
  18. Dominators and Controllers play almost completely differently. Controllers are gravitated towards powers that can be cast frequently to get their overpower procs and have that 20% chance of getting an extra magnitude of CC and as such favour a more slow paced "grindier" way of going through enemies, supported by their usage of support secondaries. Dominators are "burstier", while they have lower magnitude CC generally when they're using Domination they can CC anything short of an AV instantly and ignore virtually all enemy CC in return; and Domination can be made permanent for the joys of always being able to lock down anything short of an AV instantly with no saving throw allowed. The dominator's secondary is also meant for pure destruction with a mix of melee and ranged attacks to smack around enemies who can't hit back in any meaningful way. This has lead to a few feeling like the Dominator should be compared more to the blaster; with their ranged primary and melee/control mix secondary; rather than the controller as despite both having control primaries the Dominator uses them entirely differently and Dominators are in essence, an attack AT whose mitigation is making the enemy not able to fight back rather than a backline AT like the Controller traditionally is. Indeed Dominators even get superior melee damage scaling to blasters and generally more workable melee attack chains to boot. And while controllers can be ghetto masterminds with their self buffed pets; Dominators generally consider pets as a neat bonus at most or outright skippable at worst due to the lack of means to buff them or keep them on the field through damage mitigation or nullification.
  19. Fiery Aura is not a tanking set. It's a "make my enemies dead before I die" set.
  20. It's down to just 2 million subscribers and is expected to drop again with the next expansion as it always does. Three quarters the population of Toronto, ON. The most populated city in Canada. That's two million people. Even if half those accounts are doubled, that's still 1.5 million people. That's a lot of people. At this rate it'll probably dip under 1 million by the next expansion when Blizzard has another player alienating whoopsie do. And there probably won't be one after that because Blizzard will probably end up EA'd to death by Activision given that it's been a PR laughing stock that's struggled to meet Activision's increasingly delusional expectations of having a Fortnite level endlessly monetizable blockbuster megahit in every genre. Even if the subscriptions dips below 500 000 people, that's still a lot of subscribers. Any time someone points out that "WoW is dying" I can't help but wonder what that person considers "low subscribers?" I live in a city of 130 000 people. That's a lot of people. Activision would almost certainly pull the plug if it dips below one million and can't rise above that with an expansion spike. Which given the current trend is probably due to happen by about 2022 or thereabouts.
  21. Jack Emmeret may have envisioned Masterminds as tanks but Jack Emmeret was also a blubbering idiot who never once correctly predicted how any of his mechanics worked out. Few people actually used their pets to absorb damage for other players in CoV and even fewer bothered with any sort of aggro management; leaving us poor brute mains to pick up the slack for them. Also what are Stalkers if not Alt-Scrappers? :U
