Feedback: Testing Melee Set Performance
Infinitum replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It's melee as a whole, TW is one of the things thats working well for it. Not to the point of nerfing it I don't think, but I am interested to see where all the sets stand. -

It kinda is concern trolling, excelsior is lit up every night and my sg runs 2 task forces at the same time because we are briming over with people wanting to play the same content over and over again with alts, friends, family. Not once is There any complaint its too easy. Never comes up. So whose right here and how do you qualify and quantify that. What makes your bias more important than me and literally everyone I know in game? I would get it if people were leaving left and right but just not seeing that. Plus it's really nice feeling Super, I dont miss the days of extended AV fights or having to depend on any 1 AT just to complete content. Right now you can pick up any AT any level any team size and do most anything in the game. Couldnt say that at most points in live, you start throwing nerf wrenches at things that have improved the state of the game you will start eliminating the versatility that currently exists and then you WILL have people excluded from certain content because it cant be completed without the correct Formula or Add on the team then. -

I have yet to see anything in this game that is diseased enough to address it with the zeal you just did. Seriously, the war walls arent melting down partner. -

But if you were partnered with a blaster with KB on an outdoor map it would meet all the criteria. The outdoor comicon maps are just like the Jamison Park outdoor maps from Tina Mac and Maria. Only thing its missing is different damage types, but that shouldn't matter because we aren't testing resistance. There should be some other way to test the different Attack set damage types against various enemy group resists though. That needs to be factored in as well. Inspirations shouldn't be used IMO for a good baseline. -

Sorry, but farming is a lot closer to normal gameplay especially on the outdoor maps with EBs than pylon tests are. But none of that matters, this is a rabbit trail based on perceptions. I'll let this one go. -

Not having the testing material shouldnt invalidate the test. Throw spines out then, well maybe put an asterisk beside it at least. I'm that still boggles me why everyone says spines is the best at farming, but TW is more OP, but usnt as good at farming? Farming isnt too different than normal gameplay, in fact its a condensed versionof it - more enemies, and variables and faster so it should yield similar results to normal gameplay. -

Infinitum replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Well i dont know about that, its more normal than a pylon test IMO, because you dont go into normal missions and face spawns of pylons. -

I think the outdoor farm map may be a good starting point because of the EB spawns, spread out area and in general larger numbers of spawns. -

Im not even a fervent TW player so my main goal is thinking of other people rather than allow what happened to me with EM back when that fiasco went down. I also dont want that to creep over to the sets i DO like and main then. Yeah, whats odd is everyone agrees some sets need buffs regardless of what TW does. So my point that i keep trying to bring up is why not buff what we know is needed first rather than nerf something we cant agree on yet. I dont see where the harm in that is. -

I think we should cause KB to simulate that, not negate it. -

But what Steam said is valid, kb is a real metric to figure for when determining how sets perform on a team, becuase lets face it i bet at least 80 percent of the playerbase teams. -

What about running it on the S/L comic con farm outdoor, where EBs spawn? Since s/l is the most common damage type that would give a good result there, but part of me cant help but want to see something that reflects how it would perform at the top end also with incarnate content with Energy, S/L psi all rolled into one like Incarnate content usually is. What is the metric you are looking for clear time? Need to figure out a way to statically test a team function also, i know the results would be variable, but an average of several runs should give you the best result, talking about factoring in metrics such as kinetics, or rad which would also tell you how much more effecient any melee would be on a team with features such as adenaline boost or recharge. I think you are on to a pretty good testbed though honestly. -

There is nothing in my experience to suggest the game is stale, or would be if other sets were buffed. They still need buffs regardless of what the TW standard is. If anything it would probably contribute further to my altitis. It's impossible to not have something that stands out - something will invariable always be at the top or the FOTM, but IMO TW doesnt stand out enough across the board in every situation without other sets needing an adjustment down also at that point, thats where I think this will head if other sets dont get the attention they need first. Playing homecoming the first time several months ago what stood out was how much better melee as a whole was and how much more the balance of the game as a whole felt. Once you get to top end regular content is kinda easy, but incarnate content can be tricky, but not overly difficult. There are ways to make it overly difficult if that's what you are looking for. Again, I think from looking at what homecoming is doing with tanks and what they have done so far, they will ultimately come to the right course of action. -

No actually im not, nobody i team with every night, hours at a time, even when i have pickups for I trials says "dang i cant go on, this power creep is too much.... AVENGE ME nerf some sets." -
Feedback: Testing Melee Set Performance
Infinitum replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Power Creep is becoming one of the most overused phrases on here that really describes only what the person wielding it wants it to describe. There is no way to qualify or quantify it. Only what axe you want to grind with it. If you were really worried about power creep go to the Controller or Dominator forums and light a match there. That creep of power has been going on since before EM was nerfed. Melee finally is getting parity with that and you want to knock it down a peg agian. -

Infinitum replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Screw power creep, thats another cry baby tactic that really dont exist for 99 % of the game. Ive never once ran across someone in game that left disgusted because we beat a mob too fast. Just go away wiht that crap lol im not buying that. Before that it took 2 hours to beat a GM unless you had a rad on your team. you want that again? Nobody i play with does. -

Thats kinda what we are asking also, because... AGAIN the game isnt rotting from within from the "cancer" that is TW. just leave people alone and try to buff the other sets. then everyone wins, and everyone is happy. Its not easymode either, none of it is, its a Super Hero Game that makes you feel super, melee was lacking for a long time and with Sets like TW for some - not me even but some, and Rad, Psi, melee has found parity with the other ATs that have been stuck in godmode for over 11 years. I have never seen anyone leave disgusted because someone played TW, but that will happen if it gets nerfed. I can almost promise you that. -

Infinitum replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm not the one that said they needed a buff - well aside from EM but that's a no brainer, I'm going off of what I'm being told in here. Clearly there are underperforming sets though. I think a combination of buffs through various mechanics like insight would bring them up without breaking anything. Like I said earlier, I still don't see how it is currently unhealthy for the game to boost the underperforming sets while leaving TW alone. There is nothing in my experience in the game currently that screamed its diseased with imbalance stemming from TW. In fact that never comes up. Your experience may be different, i concede that, but how do you determine what is necessary vs what is right, vs what is desired? -

Infinitum replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It literally never comes up in game and there are hundreds of us in coalition. It won't change it for me or anyone else because like I said we are already OP and setted out. I'm one of the few tank types that plays in my group, the rest are blasters and controller types. They are the OP ones truly but its still fun. Making other melee sets stonger wont affect our difficulty level at all. If the game is too easy dont use IOs. That will fix it. The difficulty of the game has Nothing to do with melee. Not directly anyway.
