No to all of it for me. Still. Sorry, but after days you still dont get it. No matter how many people tell you how flawed your premise is you aren't listening. You do any of that you would be the only one left playing - for lots of valid reasons you still wouldn't take note of or listen to - so I'm not going to waste my time listing them. Again. We all agree there is an issue - but your solution is a big ole /jranger. -
Just make a Dark Dark tanker instead - I promise you will love it.

Part 1 So at level 50 and incarnated examine what content is available. 1. Dark Astoria Incarnate Content 2. Incarnate Trials 3. Maria Jenkins 4. Unai Kemen 5. Shadow Shard Task Forces 6. Task Force of the Week 7. Events 8. Mothership Raids 9. Hami Raids. 10. MLTF/LRSF 11. LGTF 12. Market Crash 13. Signature Story Arcs - Who Will Die and Pandora 14. New Praetorians Arcs 15. Tin Mage 16, Apex 17. Radios Probably missing some but that's what's currently available at level 50 Part 2 Now I will list the ones by default were designed for incarnate powers 1. Dark Astoria Incarnate Content 2. Tin Mage 3. Apex 4. Sometimes Task Force of the Week 5. Incarnate Trials Part3 Next I will add to this list to what i think its beneficial to have Incarnate Powers because the content can go sideways and get nutty. 1. Dark Astoria Incarnate Content 2. Tin Mage 3. Apex 4. Sometimes Task Force of the Week 5. Incarnate Trials 6. Signature Story Arcs - Who Will Die and Pandora - especially Pandora with the crazy nemesis vengeance. 7. Shadow Shard Task Forces - Again exotic enemies, dmg and lots of nemesis veng. 8. Maria Jenkins - Some of hers can get kinda difficult - so yeah beneficial but not necessary. 9. New Praetorians Arcs 10. MLTF/LRSF 11. LGTF 12. Market Crash I have had each of those last three go sideways - Now usually yeah you can get by with a good team without needing incarnates - but sometimes things happen and you are glad you have them occasionally. Next What content is it where Incarnates absolutely are not needed. 1, Radios 2. Unai 3. Events 4. Mothership Raids 5. Hami Raids. Not needing them doesn't mean they wouldn't make those events go faster - but yeah I don't see them being essential for the designed function. Not saying its wrong to bring them there either - this is just for analysis. I think the largest potential offender for repeated steamrolled content is Radios - but honestly i couldn't tell you the last time I ran a radio mission or took part in one. When i run content its usually Task Force of the Week, which depending on which ones are available - but those lock you out of incarnate abilities anyway. Most of the content I listed in part 2 and 3 can get very difficult set to max level - and borderline grindy - but that is where the challenge currently is for incarnated level 50s in game currently. You definitely wouldn't want to run those with only SOs either - some of them you probably could but would be very grindy - thinking DR Q on SOs like the old days lol log out tell your team goodnight and see ya tomorrow - then 3 days later you are done - pre IO system and mission teleport powers that is. I think we need more content like Part 2 or a difficulty setting that gives all the content in the above enemies or damage or mechanics that would make it more difficult - with corresponding rewards. Because sometimes you want a challenge - and sometimes you don't. Sometimes you just play for the experience of being Super - and indomitable. Sometimes you want to feel the Doomsday level threat. -

No - its really not - both are widely accepted as what makes a Hybrid a Hybrid and a pure resistance set a pure resistance set. If you want to call it something else you are welcome to - but it stands that by and large the community sees it exactly the way i described it. Because it involves incoming damage and ways to mitigate it directly - not indirectly. -

If that were the case why doesnt a Fire Rad Tanker beat a Rad Fire Brute - granted its close but the brute still wins. While that is a farmer vs farmer comparison - it translates to Brute Fury still giving Brutes a damage advantage on i would guess 95% of the powersets. -

Nvm I brainfarted you mean AOE vs single target? My group is a mixed bag, we do lots of the hardest content - with lots of teammate variety - some of us are setted out some of us still have SOs. With bosses in every group - sometimes EBs with the content we play I would say its a 50 50 mix with us. Only 3 of my tankers can solo an AV - meaning take them out - and even then it won't set any speed records. On the counter point to that theres only 3 things in the game that can take my tankers out - Hamidon, tyrant / battle maiden unique crap, and ME. lol -

Yes it would and its misguided and misimformed to think or say otherwise. Hybrids lessen damage either by not getting hit and also by lessening the hit. Other forms that pure resist sets have such as absorbs and heals etc doesn't make them hybrids because it's just mechanics that don't mitigate the incoming damage directly - it mitigates them by adding to your HP - again thats a mechanic. They are still pure resist sets because there is no other reliable way to mitigate the incoming damage directly. I said reliable because without ddr any defense you add to a resist set is an alpha absorber then you must move on. Regan is an outlier.... Regen sucks... Regen will steal your wallet, max out your credit cards and leave you on the streets with an I ❤ skulls t shirt with no passport. -

Without DDR and not attacking or mitigating my Rad Tank sitting on 48% defense will drop in 30 seconds in an ITF scenario. Doesnt matter if you are at 100% against defense debuffs - they will eat your lunch if you don't have ddr to mitigate it. Basically without ddr its an alpha absorber - not the main layer. -

AOE yes they do, thats how the update was designed - single target unless you are proc monstering Brutes are a good bit ahead. scrappers and stalkers - tankers aren't in the same league. -

Shield isnt just defense though. You can say that 100 times it doesn't make it true. Precision matters especially when you are explaining to potentially new people how certain sets work. Shield isnt a defensive set - its a hybrid set with a team defense boost, damage per enemy boost, with no heal. That just brought up a good point if you hard cap defense powers like grant cover etc will be largely useless then. Thats one of the many reasons your idea and premise is flawed - because its more than a nerf - its a complete game rebuild and restructure for a net result the majority doesn't even want, need, ore even address the issue the OP is discussing. -

Shield, Invul, Ninjitsu, EA, Ice, SR and Stone are Defense/Resistance hybrids willpower is hybrid also more resist/regen though. The only sets that arent hybrid are sets like Rad, Fire, Dark, Elec. Etc. But they have other tools that aid in survival against other mechanics and usually have damage auras and other kill speed increasers also. It evens out in the end. -

Couple of points here I would like to touch on. 1. The only way any of those - Invul Shield or SR are unkillable is through extensive IO set bonuses and slotting - otherwise each of them have holes through regular slotting. Its really got nothing to do with powersets. What you mentioned with invul shield and SR also has vulnerabilities to end drains and other -recovery tools the enemy can throw at it - where Fire, Rad, and Elec shrug that particular content off - they struggle against defense debuffers. Ultimately any of them can survive anything but some content requires caution as with anything out there - I have slipped up with my rad and electric on the ITF and let them eat my lunch - I have slipped up on the MLTF with my invul and shield when recluse pops that massive end drain off. Pure resistance sets with no DDR usually excel against any content but debuffers - pop ageless radial and problem solved there also because they have other tools to do other things that accelerate kill rate etc. 2. Tanker damage - I dont think its out of line with any other Melee AT - unless you proc the crap out of it - which has its own subset of issues. I purposely avoid procing damage because 1. I'm not sure it will be around forever and 2. I want an accurate feel for what the powers are actually doing - I'm not saying I am agains procing damage - just that I choose not to do it. But you used the example of shield EM tanker - you should try a EM Shield stalker or an EM EA stalker - those make the tanker damage look putrid - as it should. Built right with IO sets they can also survive a lot - not like the tanker but enough to excel at their missions. Stalker EM is where the synergy is at because of ST focus with each. Everything has a place, and nothing trends too far into the others territory with how its set up as it is - none of it is any more overpowered than anything else in the game. -

Well the performance of my builds while TEAMING or SOLO say otherwise and anyone that uses them can verify that the offense is far from paltry. I build them for max survival so they can survive anything - taking the first line full force of damage for my teams - thats kinda what the tanks role is. Good to know you took the time to study up on me, but you should have done more homework because your attack on me is inaccurate, inadequate, and ill-informed. If You notice I have Stalkers, Scrappers, Brutes and Controllers on my build page also. They arent proc monsters but they all team well and solo well. -

Furthermore I don't really want to - having been in a number of forum wars - I'm not going to change your flawed premise or state of mind anyway - and it will end up with each of us repeating our position ad nauseam with no headway to be found. -

Thats what it sounds like but I didn't want to assume that. Especially if the shade attacks first from range its going to be messy before the tank/brute can grab agro. Thats a situation where you really need taunt - I dont use it but it would be useful there.
