  1. Why is everyone skipping the first ability? That is the only way to proc offensive opportunity the last time I checked.
  2. What do you mean by this? If you don't take your first ability in fire blast you cannot proc offensive opportunity which makes you do more damage while it is up. If you only use the 2nd ability you can only proc defensive which is a very very small heal which you do not need.

    Fighting Pool?

    You absolutly want them to soft cap defense. Unless you are going for maybe a glass cannon? Then why not just play a blaster? Yes you can skip them as this game lets you build however you want but I have not seen a decent build without them.

    I 100% take tough/weave on every toon i ever make. they make great mule slots for great buffs.
  6. I would say either fire for the pure dps or beam rifle for all the debuffs it can give a mob
  7. Honestly once you get past 50% S/L resist and are positionally capped you don't really have to worry about much. Any resists you get on top of that are just pure gravy.

  9. That build looks a tad bit complicated with low damage. I have a couple builds for you to reference the first is one I pulled from a Murcialago thread and it has combat jumping and super jump the second is one I adapted to have flight because some people prefer that over jumping.   10. Remember that sents actually get a giant radius on their ancillary control powers just in case anyone forgot. Might help a water sent keep everything in their whirlpool.

    Archery/?

    I cannot speak for anything else but I have a water/ice blaster at 50 and geared and because of /ice he is almost unkillable. the aura is so friggin big i can hover above packs in 4/8 farms like 20 feet and it will still effect them all. in caves and places you cant hover you just toss down an ice patch and LOL in survivability. Not to mention the ice ST chain is pretty flawless.
  12. Best advice I can give is to find any /dark set and just look it over and adapt it to your primary. Then go back and look at it again and go through the sets, then look at it again and again and again till you are addicted to pines and making new toons. It will happen, took about 2 weeks for me to get comfortable with making builds from scratch, and even then i get a lot of my ideas from other people.

Will be a little endurance tight till you get ageless but between that and consume you should be fine.   14. Dark blast on a sentinel is very very low damage compared to playing most of the other power sets. Fire/water/elec/beam rifle are all great with fire having the least utility but the most damage.
  15. Also people are not thinking outside the box enough with sentinels. They have a few good heals available to them in their ancillary and /rad has a really nice pbaoe heal. Mixed with heal other they can be a healer in a group setting while applying vulnerability and bringing respectable dps. Not to mention a healer that is beefy is a great thing.
  16. No they are what the original devs put into the code but it was not ready for release yet. the Homecoming team just turned it on.
  17. they do better sustained AoE dps than a blaster,who is king of burst AoE in this game. Every mob they hit takes 5% more damage from all sources and they give a 20% damage increase with vulnerability. They pay for their tankiness and utility with a 10 mob cap instead of 16. Their power sets are a bit different than blasters as well which is nice. And it has been my experience so far that they were by far the easiest to kill AV's with, now that is only out of level 50 brute, scrapper, blaster, corrupter and the sentinel. I have not gotten any of the other classes to 50 so i can't say on that front. The only real had sell i could give is to try one out and most likely fall in love with the class like the rest of us did. Dark has low damage though I guess because the to hit debuff ( which is crazy good)but the rest are good with a couple outliers. Fire does amazing ST dps and pretty good AoE and water does amazing AoE dps with insane CD on gyser. TLDR: sents are crazy fun.

  20. those are fair points, My first thought was radiation because it is really easy to get good res and def cap ranged but my main is a fire/rad and was wanting to try something else.
  21. I made a water/ice blaster when i first heard about homecoming a few months ago. After getting him to 50 and trying other classes i shelved him. Now that i know a bit more about the game and pines building i am revisiting this toon. My goal was to clear packs fast but i think i may have gimped myself badly in the ST department to do so.   22. I had the same question but after coming up with a water/bio build i have not tested it yet. I keep getting distracted by my sents I know are fun first. This one is a water/bio for the defensive stance when needed. capped S/L F/C E/N with link minds and lowest buff of barrier. 1572 HP and 422 regen before parasitic leech.Also has an absorb shield. For a friend. ;) this is a build i use now. i have removed meltdown because i didn't ever use it except on a pylon before i got incarnate powers. It isn't defense capped on anything at all. That being said i can tank the world on this toon. link minds the 5% def from barrier and the absorb shield mixed with an on demand heal and good regen makes this thing a hovering force of nature........and of course that force is fire because we like damage even though we are on a sentinel.   24. this is honestly the first blaster build that has tempted me away from my fire rad sent. most other builds in pines are the same dps but way weaker defensives. I guess the alright blaster builds are very very far between
