after gearing about 12 50's I am probably ready to play some vanilla WoW. -
that is a net gain of 2.54, which is really nice

1. Ice bolt instead of ice blast just for offensive opportunity. If you can fit both sure but It is very tight on space. 2. No frost breath because of the space issue as well. And it is a very narrow cone that has a long animation. the AoE should be filled by your blizz and ice storm just fine. 3. No bitter freeze ray because it also has a long animation vs damage. Also bitter ice blast does more dps so it takes that place. Dominate will also be used in your rotation so there are just to many ST abilities.(to be fair the real reason is because sunsette said it was better and they do some really good research about sents) 4. Hover is hands down the most powerful survivability tool to a sent. No other defense in game can mitigate all melee just by being awesome like hover. 5. Brawl and boxing are just mules and are not used. I stopped at 32.9% S/L DEF because it is just 1 purple insp from soft cap. And once again I am no expert at all but this is just what seems good to me.

The absorb shield over time toggle is just so amazing, which is why a lot of people like it. The reason you would get trucked while leveling is that in my personal experience regen really benefits from set IO's and if you are elveling without them you are missing out on much needed DEF and RES. You just need to layer survivability to get the most out of it. The endurance issues while leveling sometimes might be because you were getting drained (happens a lot) and that too will pretty much fix itself when slotted. Here is a build I threw together for you to at least look at to get some ideas. I assume it could be better but it is a good starting point. Sentinel - Ice Blast - Regeneration.mxd
-
the power of /regen lies in being able to get over 700% regen easily, the toggle absorb over time shield, and at will healing while still getting respectable defenses. Also Moment of glory is a crazy good oh shit button with no crash which makes you a god for 15 seconds.

This is going to be as short as possible as i'm always baked out of my mind and if left alone with a keybord to long shit gets weird. I am here to just give my 100% biased opinion on /rad so here it goes. RADIATION ARMOR SPECIAL QUALITIES- a. Meltdown: the T9 radiation ability is both offensive and devensive at the same time. It increases damage and gives a nice chunk of resist to all making it a good ability to use as often as possible. b.Ground Zero: The T8 radiation ability (it is why this is my favorite set). Ground Zero stands out because it can be slotted many different ways. I also mean drasticaly different. It can turn your sentinel into a team healer by giving you that extra AoE heal, mixed with pool and epic this becomes very powerful. It can be slotted for incredible damage turning into another full powered nuke on a 24 second CD. It can also be slotted to straight debuff the enemies. AFAIK no other armor choice has such an ability. c. Particle Shielding: The T7 ability is not only an absorb shield but it also gives a minute long regen and recovery buff. Making energy management simple. d. Particle Acceleration: The T6 is a flat 20% haste. A few armors have this but it is still worth noting. CHANGES FROM OTHER AT's- a. Beta Decay is now Particle Acceleration. It becomes and auto ability and loses the AoE taunt and debuffs. Gains speed. SKIPPABLE SKILLS- none Drawbacks- NO DDR- not that big of an issue for a resist set but still might be an issue for some.( or maybe it is a bigger issue for a resist set? I have not figured that out). Thoughts- Radiation armor seems to be really good for any hungry primary set and it gives the sentinel something it really needs, which is another powerful AoE. Also meltdown will be up a minute at a time then down for about 2 minutes which makes it really good to stagger some with your hybrid incarnate. It is really easy to build your primary for dps and use w/e points are left over for radiation and still be tough. Heal other+ground zero(6 slotted for heals)+chain heal= yay. Also it doesn't seem to do much less than bio (would love to see a build that shows bio doing more than just a tiny bit, someone show me!) ST but because GZ is better for AoE. I may come edit this later when not baked and take out anything that doesn't make sense or add w/e I forgot. (this may be a hot wreck idk, the pot compels me)

Oh you know it! And that means you know what he is wearing in that scene.

It is insane to me that no one has posted on /rad armor yet, I guess the big dogs don't play it but so far I have found it to be my favorite. I would assume that there are people WAY more qualified than this stoned sent lover but I guess I'll start putting together the outline for it. be warned my high as shit brain ain't gonna make it pretty but if there isn't one up by tonight ill give it some proper time.
-
I would probably pair rad with /rad to compliment ground zero, which can be a very very powerful nuke if frankenslotted. as for /WP anything pairs well with it really. You just can't go wrong.

Nobody in this forum is ever going to tell you to roll a sent over a blaster and if dying isn't your thing /fire is not for you. If you are wanting to stick to a blaster maybe /ice as it is very survivable. If you are wanting to stick to a theme of fire/fire then a sentinel might be the right choice.
-
I found the amount of confusion on this page quite refreshing. lol

Thanks guys this was great, will be testing it out tonight!

Dude I feel like I'm always learning something new about this class. Every time I am like " I got this" i realize I have been dumb and wasted about 125 mil on an epic set I didn't want or need. Luckily we have people around who love the class possibly even more than I do and that is Oldskool here Nihli and Sunsette. They love to give advice and while their style does not always match mine they ALWAYS give solid advice. So Oldskool if it took you a lot of mistakes to get to that point I'm kinda glad you already made them before others XD. It seemed to work out pretty well.

Hi guys! I am currently working on a pines build but alas i have to be gone all day with only phone access. I was looking for some regen pointer, like do i really need much defense and resist with the absorb shield and what powers can you skip in sonic? I have a character rolled up with armor and wings and a bird head called Iron Falcon ( cheesy I know) that I know won't be the min/max dps i like to try for with other builds, but man do I like playing that character. Something about regen is just fun, idk. Also if you just want to point me in the right direction I will happily read w/e posts i can about regen. Read some advice from Oldskool ( pretty sure i just misspelled that) that was pretty helpful getting started. And on a toon with such low defense should I worry about it at all or is it even more important because we can get so little? (ie should i take fighting pool or is it a waste on /regen) Thanks guys, SENTINELS ROCK!
-
Oh yeah that new format is rough. Wouldn't happen to know when they are fixing the refracting shot bug in mids would ya? Can't seem to find info on that.
-
You can but the extra 150 would be helpful. especially stacked with a dagger.
-
I'm not great at advice but what I can do is post what I would do (based on my water/bio build i have). 1 small lucky away from all but psi. didn't take cutting beam or lancer shot. Should perform very very well in all situations with a whole lot more damage. if refractor beam isn't showing it is 5 positron blast and 1 res debuff. ( my mids wont save it) Beam Bio Sent.mxd

Omfg i thought it was just me. my builds got merc'd by that shit and i couldn't even pull out the bad skills. I might have come up with something i like using my soul mate /rad that works out pretty well for me. I have not decided if i want to make ground zero a crazy nuke or slot it for defense. a shift right slick will show what i have there. Anyway here is what i was able to make. please shout some feedback if you see improvements anywhere. Would it be possible to see that build? I have my fire/rad sent doing 500 damage every 30 secs with unbuffed inferno and my water/bio doing 520 every 20 seconds with gyser. I am having problems getting the BR T9 to perform this well and I could definetly use some direction.
-
The draw of /psi anciliary is that you get an amazing ST chain from it. you use Mind probe and Dominate in your chain and they just fit so well(Fireball replacing Mind Probe for pure range fights). That and Dominate can be frankenslotted and have another buildup. I don't actually cap my ranged def and while i could use an inspiration to do so I just don't ever need to. Hover is hands down the best defense in this game. Radiation just has so much going for it.
-
I use a build very similar to nihilii's fire/rad/psi and he ain't lying when he says he does cool things with it. I know /bio is the better dps set but there is something about radiation that just FEELS smooth.
-
Man to be fair I'm so in love with radiation armor i totally biffed about there being a need for heals. I guess without absord/recovery shield the defensive op would be a lot more valuable. I shall remember this for my sents with other sets.

Thanks Sun, I really was wondering because I don't have a BR yet and was thinking of playing a BR/Regen if i could make it work in pines. In a group where it is a bit more forgiving with team buffs do you find yourself still hitting defensive to keep up endurance? And very good write up on Six Six's part.
