  1. This is the sticking point. This claim makes no sense. Any set can become sub par or get passed by other sets in certain circumstances. And for an AoE chain, that is excellent ST damage. On the facts, you're wrong. It's been demonstrated time and time again. The claim that TW isn't overperforming compared to other sets is proven to be wrong. But that's ok. I know it over performs, I just don't care and I don't want it to be nerfed. You don't need to have any other reason than that. But sticking to a factually incorrect position is hurting your credibility on the topic. You don't want it nerfed because you like it as is? Cool, stick with that, it's more than enough reason. And you don't have to explain your position further than that. I'm certainly not going to explain my preference beyond that.
  2. I love it too. On weeks when I'm in between characters I'll spend more time doing that than fighting.
  3. Then you get some debt, it builds character. If you ain't dyin, you ain't tryin.
  4. Interesting response lol
  5. A more likely scenario is NCSoft would fight such a ridiculous legal threat as holding a rights holder liable for what someone does with their stolen code would set a terrible precedent. Not only would NCSoft likely fight it, there is a good chance that much larger corporations like Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon would back them as there is no way they would be on board with them being held liable for what illegal actions people do with their software. In fact, when have any of these corporations been held liable in a way similar to what you are saying? Have they been successfully sued for what people do with Andriod, iOS, MacOS, Windows, or the Amazon Android fork? Hell, Google won the lawsuit against Viacom when people used YouTube to commit copyright infringement. What law or precendent states NCSoft has to enforce their IP rights to protect the IP rights of others? Especially when their IP was stolen in the first place? Jubakumbi is correct, this is 100% pure FUD. This is nothing more than pure speculation, without anything provided to support the claims. It's a bunch of nonsense.
  6. A few months ago at work somebody disagreed with my medical diagnosis of them, so I googled degrees and pasted my name on a fake University to show him I was indeed a doctor and it didn't cost me a dime.
  7. NCSoft isn't providing the platform for the infringement, the HC team is. And this article is about investing in platform providers, and as of right now NCSoft has done no such thing. Somebody stole their code and is using it without their consent. Simply writing software game software twenty years go is not by itself material contribution, and there is no ruling that states otherwise. And the Napster ruling is not the same as what is happening here. The courts ruled Napster knowingly and willingly provided the tools for widespread infringement to its users. That is clearly not the same as what is happening here. Plus if the Napster lawsuit is so wide ranging, why haven't more torrent software designers been successfully sued? Why do lawsuits brought against YouTube and Facebook keep getting tossed? You came into a heavily debated thread with a spectacular claim and now you say you weren't looking for debate? Nonsense.
  8. How exactly and specifically is that contributory infringement? NCSoft isn't doing the infringement themselves, and they have not authorized the use of their IP, and have not directly contributed to the unauthorized use of it either. That's a specific accusation you made, certainly you have something more than just claiming it so? What law specifically? What law or case law makes NCSoft liable in such a situation?
  9. If such a change would in any way have a chance of going back to the days of waiting on a tank to herd a bunch, then no thanks.
  10. But what would such a letter accomplish? Since every server is currently unauthorized, what law would make NCSoft liable for anything done on any of them?
  11. I agree for the most part. I personally hate the way it currently works with a passion and feel it is a big deal. My ideal solution would be an option to use catalysts on an entire set at once and have a way to boost an enhancement +5 at one time. Hell, I'd pay influence for the short cut. Lots of influence if I could just +5 my entire build at once.
  12. In all fairness Broadsword has been a mediocre set for a long time.
  13. TW/Fire might be able to do fire farms as fast, but it takes more effort. Spines/Fire in fire farms is the single most broken thing in the game. You can run around in the meteor map for ten seconds, park in the middle, put Burn on auto fire, and walk away for five minutes and more than half the map is dead. Something else being an even bigger outlier doesn't change the fact that TW, especially TW/Bio, is definitely over powered. That being said, I don't want it nerfed. I don't play TW and don't plan to anytime soon. But I would also like SS on Scrappers as close to it's double stacked Rage goodness as possible, and Stone Melee as is too.
  14. I can't pick it up until 9pm, so I can do both! But I'm lame and have to wake up early, so dealing with a pre order crowd at 9-10 pm, then install the game, then actually play sounds terrible and I'll likely wait until after work tomorrow. Now get off my lawn.
  15. I can pick up Borderlands 3 tonight, fortunate timing.
  16. I'm of the opinion that I don't think it's a big deal that it is an outlier and should be left as is.
  17. Exactly! It's very similar to wanting to be a pro athlete, but not everybody has the natural physical tools to do it. No matter how hard I work, I could never do the things a back up NBA player did, let alone someone like LeBron James. People like James work extremely hard, but that alone simply isn't enough. I bolded and underlined what I think is an absolutely phenomenal point. This is an incredibly tough problem to overcome. Great post.
  18. I built my Spines/Fire Brute the other day and spent about 1.5 billion because I didn't want to wait on anything. I've almost made my influence back using just the market. Well I would have if I didn't add an extra zero to my bids on converters last night. Cost me about 300 million or so before I caught the mistake and was able to cancel the rest of the bids.
  19. Also gotta take into account California's publicity laws!
  20. Don't worry, day is still young and I have plenty of time to screw it up.
  21. Oh, it absolutely is infringement. There is no current license. And anybody seeding the game torrent is also committing infringement. It is absolutely, unequivocally hypocrisy. You're rationalizing your copyright infringement while judging that of others. Which isn't really that big of a deal, we're all hypocrites one way or another.
  22. I mentioned this earlier the thread but I think it needs to be repeated, judging people for infringement when playing on a pirate server is pure hypocrisy.
  23. It very well can be both. Some people are extremely creative using the tools at hand to make a copy and looks fantastic. Other people lack the ability to do even that and their copies are terrible, or maybe their ability maxes out and recreating things and even somewhat original characters are beyond their talents. Just like some people are great at physics but bad at algebra even though they share some basics. Judging someone's lack of creativity as some sort of failing is no different than judging someone because they are a slow reader.
  24. What bugs me the most about all of this is the terrible attitude to tell people to be more creative or original. Some people simply lack that ability. It's the same as some people are just bad with math no matter how hard they try. And the way some people talk about it, they come across as making moral judgements on other people's lack of creativity, which is completely ridiculous. If you judge someone for having difficulty reading or the inability to do calculus, most people will see you as a jerk and/or bully. Judging someone for their lack of creativity is no different.
