  1. Alternative Power name: "ROCK FALLS! EVERYONE DIES!" (Sorry! Mostly not serious. I'm honestly not too picky on the name here, but maybe something like "Summon Meteor" would be more appropriate without getting in to the minutia of technicalities?)
  2. Just so long as no one starts wasting any work hoping Oxford's opposing dictionary from that u.s. place will carry out an action against this post chain: You may carry on.
  3. Hell, if they're purchasable, don't even bother with a level requirement.
  4. We shouldn't forget that the market is entirely artificial and entirely within the Devs' power to change how it works. Any argument for or against changes to other parts of the game that use the "but the market!" excuse don't really hold water. The market doesn't need to be the way it is right now, and can be modified with the likes of seeding, which the Homecoming Team already did. One could say that it's unlikely that the Devs -want to- . . . sure. It's easy to say that it would require extra time and effort on the parts of the Devs to adjust the market further, absolutely. But the market is not sacrosanct and beyond change.
  5. Troubleshooting this kind of problem may involve needing to provide some detailed technical information about your situation to a GM, @Baldwin17. I'd encourage you to select the Support button at the top of the forum page, and start a new ticket where a GM can hopefully walk you through troubleshooting as time allowed. Please just bear in mind that all GMs are entirely volunteer, and wait times may be extended right now since Homecoming is in the midst of doing a massive Beta for future content. If you're comfortable with other players potentially seeing some of that technical information, you can continue to seek help in the public forums, though.
  6. I'll post a link back to https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/32055-pv2-vendor-sell-a-permanent-or-temp-hold-power/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-410175 then, @wjrasmussen. I'm not the authority to enshrine these statements though. And, at the moment, the GMs and Homecoming Team are focusing their energy on the Beta. After that, and a short break too, I think it would be beneficial to have a sit down and hash out some thoughts on productive etiquette. As far as "no" and the more hostile variations of shouting down a suggestion, my view is summed up as: -It's valuable feedback to the Devs to know if there are people who are uncomfortable with a proposal. -It's FAR MORE valuable feedback to everyone; Devs and community alike, to actually explain a point of view. -If an individual feels that their point of view is self evident, then it behoves them to remember that no one else may agree, and even if past discussions took place, the various natures at play in this forum (or any) means that it is far more productive to provide a link to the past argument that you feel validates your point of view. In short: I think a "no" should be avoided in favour of posting a link. Every time. It's true that no one is obligated to do other people's research for them. But it sure as hell makes things a lot easier and more productive for everybody when we share information freely! Of course, all of that is part of the wider public discussion that I would like to see happen with @Cipher, @Jimmy (whatever happened to Jimmy? The last few posts from Jimmy were deleted or hidden, and the last forum activity was a thread getting followed in August), and any other members of the Homecoming Team interested in giving some structure for the purposes of a healthier and more productive forum environment. And for anyone thinking to comment "it'll never work" or some variation of pessimistic "people are too shitty to care" . . . I kindly ask that keep that sentiment to yourself. Of course it won't work if no one ever tries! And part of trying is failing, learning, and iterating. I'm not proposing the impossible. I'm proposing something that will be difficult, but absolutely obtainable. Ultimately, this thread's purpose was merely a request for some folks to be less hostile in situations where simply remaining silent would have ironically been far more helpful to both the target and the whole community. It's okay to not reply to a thread you don't like. It can quietly disappear in to the bowels of the archives. And if you're going to reply, you can post something constructive and informative, rather than vitriolic.
  7. Yup! I consider Keaton's to be the best version of the Vulture and best villain in the (extended) MCU for the same reasons.
  8. That last point reminds me of the Fast Club from the Magellan comic, @Palador.

This is an oddly unusual group of words. It's not that anything is wrong, but by contrast it's a bit mystifying in that nothing is wrong with it. This paragraph's grammar has a quality of curiosity to it that only hints at what forms its abnormal trait. Can you track down what is so quirky about this post?
  10. I think a new thread might need to be started in the regular Suggestion/Feedback Board to discuss Pacify and Presence in general. I've wanted to share some thoughts, but couldn't find a way to justify the discussion in a feedback thread dedicated specifically to the Enhancements. UNLESS . . . we're possibly going to discuss Pacify as it relates to: Annoyance, Triumphant Insult, Mocking Beratement, and Perfect Zinger ( https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Enhancement_Sets#Taunt ).
  11. "Depends on what?" . . . ahem. Anyway! I know I'm not alone in being fairly anti-50. I think . . . @DougGraves, was it you who didn't play characters to 50? I think at least two relatively prominent forumgoers aside from myself were in that category, at least.
  12. God. You just gave me flashbacks to the days when Isolator was first introduced, @Tyrannical! I ended up rerolling several characters just to get it. Such an awful implementation originally.
  13. I'd sooner suggest that they be archived in a "Defunct" tab, but yeah. Sounds like a plan!
  14. Yeah. Like @Greycat brings up, I'm not too jazzed about the whole "cosmic level" crap, either in the MCU or in City of Heroes. It's just too divorced from a framework which I can relate to. If we're going to go cosmic, then I want it to be Cthulhian cosmic horror! I can feel a personal sense of attachment to that. But cosmic people in spandex flying around being simultaneously too human and not human enough just feels awkward when they're meant to be the lens through which the audience connects to personally. . . . I now want to see a cosmic horror story where the spandex-wearing superheroes ARE the monsters that are lurking in the twinkling twilight of deep space . . . that sounds potentially interesting.
  15. Yup, that about sums it up. Pilgrim is just a level 25 Contact who happens to have two arcs, one which is Villains-only and one which is Heroes-only. Using the Portal or the Flaming-Ice-dealies is now totally unrelated to Pilgrim (except for the Flaming-Ice-dealies which are just mission doors, which are the ones stationed next to the Contact NPCs).
  16. They changed a lot about how Ouroboros works during SCoRE or early Homecoming. Currently, what I know: Level 1 to access the Portal (I appreciate this change quite a bit). Level 1 to cast the Portal (I also appreciate this change). Level 14 minimum to start your own Flashback. Level 1 minimum to join a Flashback, but that Flashback has to be for a Story Arc that is accessible to a Level 1. (Replace "1" with any other number for the second clause.) Level 25 to do Pilgrim. Pilgrim can only have one Story Arc active at a time, so if you talk to Pilgrim while Redside and then switch Blueside, you actually have to go back Red and finish the entire Arc to do it Blueside.
  17. Beta Shard characters are periodically deleted, and there isn't a consistent player population on Test. And I think you're fully aware of that.
  18. As would my Chainsaw Ballerina. Please make sure these are not gender-locked costume pieces. Chainsaw Ballerina uses the Huge model.
  19. That reminds me . . . when was the last time someone did an access review? I know a few bases had broken passcodes listed in the Yellow Pages, and they were noted. I had started one of these reviews over a year ago, but never finished it. Anyone else done some recently?
  20. Without weighing in on the main discussion, I do want to question the market volatility counterargument. Is there any evidence to suggest that the market isn't sustained just as much by characters of all levels, and so long as the same number of overall players remains steady, the bucketing on the market should prevent any one level range from having a significant effect on overall quantities and value. Or is it being suggested that we would lose the farmers who are explicitly going from 1 to 50, while ignoring the farmers who are 50+, and those numbers are significant enough to sustain a whole fragile market? I wonder if there's a way to monitor for those criteria and actually have data to back up a supposition like that.
  21. Eternals was a movie. *shrugs* It wasn't bad, but it also didn't make me run to the bathroom. The best movies are the ones where my get so excited that I -have- to run to empty my urinary bladder in the middle of the movie or climax. I also didn't appreciate the idea that humans couldn't do anything right without the Eternals guiding them to do it. Like . . . all major inventions and cultural development was from an outside source? BAH to that sentiment. Still . . . not a bad movie. Would watch again without complaint, but won't be seeking an opportunity to be the one who suggests seeing it again.
  22. I'm with @Mezmera in the sentiment that Whips and Dominators are the natural combination. I'd still like to see a dedicated Whip Control Set, so we can get a Blade Assault Set too and combine the two in to my long-standing dream Dominator combo of: Whip/Blades. I've had a character concept since the Legacy/Retail days who has been Plant/Icy as the "next best thing." I'm so very ready to finally have this character realized properly. I will reroll in a heartbeat if those Sets become available.
  23. I think @Yomo Kimyata gets to some of the core concerns with https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/32376-can-we-stop-dogpiling-please/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-413076 So, kudos for that, Yomo. And, for what it's worth to some folks, I apologize if I came off sounding like I was trying to be an authority in this thread. My intent was to appeal to members of this community as a peer. And, I get it. I am not well liked by some of you, for various reasons, and you certainly don't have to consider me an equal. Please just know that I'm not trying to be superior. I just have a very low tolerance for inane cruelty, especially when it's masquerading as "just having fun," or "knocking someone down a peg" when the target is already being punched-down on. I chose not to name names for a couple of reasons. It would be a little gauche, if not outright inflammatory. And this isn't the first time this sort of behaviour has reared its head here, and I wanted to address not just the latest incidents, but the habitual conduct. Also, I'm not blameless, and I know it. Hell, look at that thread about ERP from a while back; I got a little shitposty in there myself. In fact, what prompted me to write this thread was because somebody beat me to the "Has Anyone Really Been Far" meme in one of the recent threads, and it sorta clicked in my head that as funny as it may have seemed in the moment, it really wasn't a respectful thing for me to do to that thread's originator (though, to be clear, I still chuckled when I saw that meme post, so I'm not trying to call out the person who beat me to it. Honestly, I'm thanking them, since their post gave me the breather to be a little more introspective). As for the whole boomer/gen x/millennial thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD0x7ho_IYc I am telling EVERYONE that I think they should watch this. Because it applies to everyone. (Except @MunkiLord, 'cause I know he already saw it!)
  24. I was giving that some thought, and while barbed wire and chain might be too tricky, from what I've seen of the assets for the Whip Effects, adjusting transparencies and textures might be enough to make a simple leather or cloth whip.
  25. Given that every one of the Exploration Accolades are worth 5 Merits each, regardless of player level or risk involved, I think it would be marginally reasonable to make Raver and Dee Jay each worth 2 or 3 Merits (4, 5, or 6 total Merits), and Volunteer Firefighter, Firefighter, and Fire Chief also each worth 2 or 3 Merits (ranging from 6 to 9 total Merits).
