  1. So . . . been looking at a lot of videos and reviews and content related to Metroid Dread. I'm not 100% sure yet, but it looks like a really solid return to form! What I've seen so far feels like it is taking the series back on the path that it was on with Super Metroid and the Prime series in terms of subtext and representation of Samus. Something about the "fuck YOU, dad!" bit just really struck a chord, you know?
  2. You raise some interesting points of discussion, @plainguy, but it is rather tangential to this thread's original topic. May I direct you to this one from a while ago? https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/17732-community-project-cleaning-up-the-suggestions-and-feedback-board/ I'll cop to not having followed through with it, and for that I'm sorry. I have a bad habit of that. Perhaps some renewed interest in the project could be constructive for the community. Back to the original topic here: I think a substantial issue with additional incentivization of more Badges exists in the form that many Badges are poorly implemented. They effectively necessitate AFK collection methods due to their extreme criteria. Rewarding the likes of 60 Hours spent Held/Stunned/Slept could be cheeky fun, but given how that Badge is obtained, it's probably not the ideal subject for linked rewards. If any Badges were to be further incentivized, I would suggest focusing on Badges with sensible conditions. And probably those that promote prosocial behaviour from players, although the validity of soloing shouldn't be dismissed either.
  3. Keep. Definitely.
  4. It's already officially recognized as Unofficial: Having something on the Shard Selection screen which references this could be helpful. But, as the story goes, modifying GUI elements isn't a simple affair. It doesn't seem to be in the realm of this Dev Team's priorities. As to the original topic; it sounds somewhat related to https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/31380-new-chat-channel-so-we-can-finally-use-our-indoor-voices-for-rp/ Perhaps an alternative would be a new chat channel that has a 25' range like Local, but dedicated for roleplay. Then folks who don't like roleplay at all can remove that channel from their Tabs AND roleplayers who want more intimate space for public scenes get what they're looking for.
  5. Are you describing last year's Witch House, @Jacktar? 'cause there are some really sneaky new additions for this year! As great as it was over 300 days ago, it's even better now.
  6. Increasing the number of Badges with rewards frankly seems like an ideal approach for lateral progression options to me. We have Merits for Exploration and the classic Accolade Powers already, and even some content such as Missions and Task Forces. Further development along that branch could be done to provide players additional alternatives in their day-to-day engagement. Nothing cosmetic, of course. Just offering Badges as an alternative path toward elements of the game. Naturally, some existing Badges are very poorly implemented and don't make good candidates for such an expansion. But things like the Badges for completing all the story arcs in a given Zone are solid choices to tie a little something special on (even if it's just a small handful of bonus Merits). The thought that "Badges are their own reward" though seems particularly half-baked to me. We could just as easily turn that around to say "the +1 to your level is its own reward. No need to unlock Powers or Contacts from levelling up." Progression doesn't need to be tied to a single game mechanic. Badges offer an ideal alternative since they represent a player's active engagement with the game (and even community, for certain Badges).
  7. Another possibility is the Mu Guardian Gladiator Badge.
  8. So, has anyone wondered "Who is the Watcher even talking to all the time?" It would have just been the audience, but the latest episode confirmed the narration is actually diegetic. Does that mean that we as audience members are going to get spoken to directly Dead Pool-style by the end of this, or are there other Watchers watching The Watcher?
  9. Many thanks, @ThaOGDreamWeaver! While they may be (slightly) chonkers, they are clearly beautiful chonkers.
  10. I regretfully admit that I couldn't read through this whole thread without going cross-eyed, so if someone else already said this, I apologize: We human beings are people. And people learn in an assortment of different ways. One of those ways is imitation and emulation. Some players -are- learning how the game works by using a pre-made build, then experimenting and exploring the game while using it as a stepping stone. Let them have that. Please?
  11. Nice. Very nice. Also a wonderful little jab at Vanguard, so bonus points there!
  12. You may have some luck finding a Group if you join the Pride Global Channel, @WitchofDread. /chanjoin Pride Just be sure to /chatsave once you've configured your Tabs, and /chatload on all your other characters to make sure that the channel remains visible when you switch. While most of our members are on Everlasting, we do have LGBT players on all Shards. Ask around, and someone might be able to direct you to an Excelsior Group.
  13. Bonus prizes have been sent out.
  14. Trailer contains a little spoilerness, but doesn't contain the full context of what's going on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-XIRcjf3l4
  15. Seven-part dark, slow-burning horror-mystery miniseries on Netflix. Minimal jump-scares. Mostly the more seething and thoughtful dread. Blood and a bit of gore, but not gratuitous, since the blood is a key element of the story being told. Really hit me on a personal level, given my upbringing. Spouse preferred The Haunting of Hill House, but felt this was definitely a close second in the trio of miniseries of this particular team. Strongly recommended for anyone who can handle their horror.
  16. By the looks of it, he's currently disarmed. Probably has them in the shop for servicing.
  17. Sorry, @CrystalDragon, but to confirm: Do you mean 10/8 to 10/11? That is to say that your leave will be in October, and not September?
  18. 94% around the 5 hour mark.
  19. nuh-uh, @Wravis! Thank YOU!
  20. I don't know if anyone has a complete answer to your questions there, @SuperPlyx. But that's because it takes whole legal teams and loads of money to answer those sorts of questions most of the time when they come up in the industry. Homecoming tends to err on the side of cautious. I don't think they're going to be stopped by some other bootleg server having a Paragon Studios-planned Power Pool there with the same name as a Power Pool here, even if such a theoretical original Power Pool had broadly similar content. And that's because the operation here is already working with the content and code that . . . "shares a common ancestry" with those other servers. Bonus points if the specific Devs who worked on it for Homecoming have detailed documentation of their entire development cycle, potentially including local requests from their own community who offer completely unassociated-to-other-similar-ventures samples as part of their feedback/requests (ie: Using photos of real hulu dancers, rather than a screenshots of hulu skirts that someone put in City on a different server). But let's say another server creates and puts a completely original element in to their branch of the game; an element that is not derived from any existing assets or code that were in that "shared ancestry." Unless that other server explicitly provides that content to everyone with CC0 ( https://creativecommons.org/share-your-work/public-domain/cc0/ ) or an unlimited and specific license agreement to Homecoming LLC . . . then I'd wager that the Devs here won't try their luck. Not even if it were the most compelling and amazing element to be made in the past 15 years, that could completely revolutionize and invigourate the game. I know that probably sounds bizarrely hypocritical to some folks, given the origins of Homecoming and the other City servers out there. But I've got a hunch that the fewer boats Homecoming is seen as rocking, the more comfortable the frontrunners feel. Just a hunch.
  21. And there are plenty of people who just like sharing their own builds freely. No harm in that.
  22. About a half hour, and at 58%. Pretty solid.
  23. New development is on-going, @Trike. While Homecoming has been exceptionally cagey about certain types of new content (particularly costume pieces), other servers have demonstrated some significant additions in terms of 3D assets for costuming (check out the Reddit group for the other servers; there are frequently screenshots when new stuff gets shared there). Even outside of costume pieces, though, Homecoming has created some new stuff: Power Sets, Quality of Life Features, Story Arcs, Enhancement Sets, and Power Sets. There's a major update in the pipeline right now which is purported to include a Redside Strike Force including new optional Difficulty gameplay mechanics, a couple of rock Power Sets (word is that they're a Blast and a Manipulation), and an inflatable donut raft emote. Other stuff too, probably. Not that any of this is guaranteed, of course. Just what's supposed to be nearing completion.
  24. @Garymathers there have been a few other threads on this topic in the past few weeks. Some of them even had Devs provide teasers. You may want to give a quick whirl in the forum's search if you're interested in seeing them.
  25. See, I kind of thought those were targeting parameters. "Kick him in the fist!" or "Punch her in the foot!"
