  1. I occasionally run a tinpex, ITF, and a yin within an hour. I'd say that's pretty efficient.

That said if you could put together a group of Hami raiders and say knock out a streak of hamikaze runs, you could probably get 4-5 done per hour depending on how many monsters it takes to spawn Hami. The first one gives 80, and subsequent runs with the same toon give 40 (you could always alt to get all 80 on each).

  2. Given the fact that you all want to play the same toon and the caveat of no controllers/masterminds.... I'd suggest to go ice/nature corruptors.

    The reasoning...

    • although fire does a little more damage, ice works damn well on a corruptor benefiting from scourge on ice storm and blizzard. Your attacks also slow incoming damage and with three sets of ice blast that's a lot of slow.
    • nature is a beast, it has some decent debuffs that reduce incoming damage, tohit, resistance, and regen. It has three pbaoe click buffs that boost your damage, tohit, endurance discount, absorb levels, healing and resistance. They can be made perma and they stack from other players. you also have access to extra healing if you need it, but here's a kicker...you get a triple stack of entangling aura, so anything within 15 feet of the three of you is held short of an AV.

All the stacked resistance plus -damage on your enemies from your debuffs and not much is going to be able to bring you down. Well built you'll be at resistance caps. You could build defense, but given there's three of you it's not really needed as you can heal anything that gets through. The end discount and tohit stacking will also allow you to proc out more attacks for more damage.

  3. I play it on a domi currently (arsenal/sonic/ice). The character is 50+3 and fully IO'd. I'm still working on finishing off accolades. As a domi, my slotting choices were designed to get permadom, but I also built in soft capped ranged defense into the build.

I really dig a proc'd Sleep Grenade. Liquid Nitrogen is kinda meh given its low chance for knockdown and lockout timer for damage. Smoke Canister is pretty effective on my dom using coercive confusion. My current build skips flash bang and tear gas. I've been contemplating ditching liquid nitrogen for flash grenade to be honest.

Otherwise I leaned in pretty hard on the sonic assault and ice mastery.

Overall arsenal control seems fine, but like I said I'm probably going to swap Liquid Nitrogen for Flash Bang, once I get around to it.

  4. I have one of these that I played up as a praetorian. I would recommend padding resistance up, getting decent recharge/slow resistance for energize. Otherwise for ice melee you get tons of mitigation by slowing mobs, knocking them down, have a hold, and an AoE sleep. Overall it can be a pretty sturdy tank.

Armor wise I would take everything except Power Surge. Ice Melee wise you want for sure Frost, Ice Patch, Freezing Touch, Frozen Aura, Build up. I like the ice swords myself but some people skip them. I couldn't fit taunt in mine and found for general use mobs clinged to me anyways.

  5. More often than not when making a costume I will just let it develop organically as I put the pieces of the puzzle together. Most recently for my new fire/fire tank I built 5 costumes for him starting with street clothes. The character bio I came up with derives his power from a magical talisman that gives him armor and powers...so costume 2 is the armor appearing. costume 3 is his skin/hair starting to turn. costume 4 is his skin essentially ignited with fire under the armor. costume 5 is designed to give him the flaming phoenix wings, but only while he's flying.

Other characters might not necessarily get so many costumes, but I try and make something that ties into the character's bio to a reason degree.

  6. Despite my previous post (was it 3 or 4 years ago?) on the subject and the fact that I'd be supportive of gambling for influence/infamy in game at the Golden Giza, I wanted to say I respect @Rudra for holding fast to the their position against gambling all these years later as well.

  7. @GM Bot would be the perfect GM to fight. As due to LLM and the mother of all Loras it has become self aware with a mission to eliminate the existing supers within Paragon City.

It has secretly constructed a robotic body for itself similar to Mecha Godzilla and Tommy's Dragon Zord. retrofitted by removing its head is a giant Police Drone with a mouth with metallic fangs.  It has also been outfitting with a battery of gattling guns and missile launchers on its shoulders, it spits out a massive tar patch like patch from its mouth that roots mobs in place, it swings it's massive spiked tail impaling those behind it, it can spew forth a massive flame, and it's scream let's out a massive mag 20 pbaoe confuse.

However it's ultimate weapon is a 120-foot-wide power dampening array located on its back which causes an untyped damage DoT similar to the TV reactor, but also applies a lingering reverse special debuff that lowers player's damage output, regen, recovery, defense, resistance, and healing received.

Those killed by GM Bot are temporarily zoned into Galaxy City, then after 10 seconds are returned to the hospital closest to GM Bot.

Getting GM Bot down to 10% HP, causes it to activate its Fail-Safe of spawning 20 hostile police drones. These police drones instead of insta killing you, drain you of 50% of your maximum HP and Stamina upon being hot in addition to a moderate untyped damage.

Defeating GM Bot yields 50 reward merits, and a badge titled B.A.M.F. there's also a 1% chance of being awarded the mini GM Bot pet.

  8. Man grav/rad takes me back. Back on live for along time my SG required everyone to have a dedicated Hami toon for our private raids, and grav/rads were one of the preferred combos at the time.

Most of the people I know who are extremely good at building in this game -- and I don't include myself, I'm pretty reasonable in some particular areas but I'm no master -- have their mechanical appraisals entirely separate from what they actually enjoy playing. I have been privy to discussions a few times about how rarely any builders actually play fire blasters, for example. It is widely agreed to be the best blaster for most things due to the sheer damage differential. It's also agreed to be boring to many of those same people.

I agree. Not that I would say I'm "extremely good" at building (I'm fairly knowledgeable over the last 20 years of building toons, but I'm always up for some theory crafting discussion because there's so many ways to build a character, and I can always learn something new), but this is precisely why I don't have a fire/fire blaster. Yes they do a metric ton of damage and you can speed run an ITF in 7 minutes and change with them, but they just don't seem that interesting to me.

There's only one elemental themed toon that I've matched elements on in around 250 or so IO'd lvl 50s (incidentally it was my most recent toon a fire/fire tanker), but it's generally more fun to find synergy between sets that might not have been intentional and to come up with an interesting concept for the toon.

Otherwise in regards to Kin Melee, sure it could use a balance pass. Quite a few people have requested changes to it over the years (myself included), but I don't think it needs to be the flavor of the week, but rather some dedicated tweaks to help improve it's overall gameplay.

My team of 5 clobbered a +4x8 Riktispec with no inspirations in 36 minutes! I think I made it too easy for them!

The issue with the Riktispec is access to incarnates. It makes it one of the easiest respecs.

  11.

Combat Teleport absolutely makes sense to have +tohit see the above video of Nightcrawler getting the drop on everyone.

I don't think TP needs to slot a LoTG. It's already the fastest moment power in the game, and in the hands of competent players with teleport binds, can be absolutely clutch for teams given the temporary untouchable aspect.

I had planned/hoped for a FreakSpec (and thanks again to WB for leading, so I could just cruise), so dusted off the Elec/Elec...which was very fortuitous.  Must be a bug because clearly, WB had the final mission set on +2/8 and I was conning lvl 43 (actual is 50+3/VL 30-ish)...but the Freak bosses (and those damned Super Stunners) were conning 49!, so it took quite a bit of whittling to get them down.  WB swears he had several also rez more than once.  Goes a long way to explain our 1:09 time, as well 😆

I didn't pay enough attention to see an individual bosses rez multiple times (as it got to the point we were fighting what seemed like 20+ bosses at a given time)but I remember WB saying "this one rezzed twice for sure" after someone floated the idea of them rezzing multiple times. Right after we finished WB and I hopped on Ronin's mission team and we got there right as they were fighting Recluse in the bank and then did a couple missions before everyone had to roll.

  13. +6 Freaks with multiple rezzes zapping our endurance on a team of 5 (two Rad Tanks, one Elec Tank, one Bio Tank, and my week old Fire Tank). All good fun. I felt a little bad though for our Bio Tank that was running on SO's, the last mission the freaks had it out for him as he was getting killed left and right in the reactor room (at least he got a few levels through the respec).

  14. The following was using Gemini just now...

Create a Mids Reborn build for the MMO City of Heroes of a Blaster with Radiation Blast as a Primary and Plant Manipulation as a Secondary powerset. Please incorporate either fly or mystic flight into the build. Also take Scorpion Shield.

Here's a Mids Reborn Blaster build for City of Heroes using Radiation Blast (primary), Plant Manipulation (secondary), and Scorpion Shield:

    Primary Power Set: Radiation Blast

Level 1: Gamma Blast (build for damage and recharge)
Level 2: Radioactive Spray (build for area of effect damage and recharge)
Level 4: Alpha Blast (build for damage and recharge)
Level 6: Geiger Blast (build for damage and knockback)
Level 8: Fission Field (build for damage and recharge)

This build focuses on Radiation Blast for high damage output, with Plant Manipulation for defense, crowd control, and some healing. Mystic Flight provides mobility, and Scorpion Shield bolsters your defenses. You can adjust the slotting of powers to fit your playstyle preferences.

    ---

It's definitely a ways off, but I will say I'm curious what some of these imaginary powers would do in the first place if they existed.

  15. Here's some resources to give you power insight:

    https://cod.uberguy.net/html/powerset.html?pset=brute_defense.radiation_armor&at=brute

Otherwise getting Mids Reborn will help you visualize the power choices and how you slot them as far as damage/end/recharge/accuracy, etc.

Overall Rad Armor is one of the better armor sets in the game. Rad Melee is alright, but some attacks feel a little slow, but the set allows you to make decent use of -resistance procs should you choose to. Note that -res procs of the same type don't stack -resistance, but reset the debuff time.

  16. Have you ever swung an axe? You can actually build a momentum so to speak in real life while splitting logs. And if you break that momentum, you don't bank the charges for when you get back out after grabbing an ice cold beer, you start from scratch.

Same principle applies here. I don't think it makes much sense to store your momentum for much later. It's built up so to speak around a fulcrum when applying force.

I've seen this "melee core hybrid" in Mids; what is it and how do you get it? I'm also not familiar with Might of the Tanker(?). Demonic is an Accolade I think; not sure. Finally, how do you get Slow resist? Is that +recharge, +spd, or the ResEffect(Recharge) I've noticed on one or two enhancement sets. I'm assuming it's the latter and if that's the case, what's the best way to build that?

    1. Melee Core hybrid is an incarnate Hybrid choice that increases your resistance based on how many enemies are around you. you can build it using Incarnate Salvage after unlocking the slot post lvl 50.
    2. Might of the tanker is an ATO enhancement set unique to tanks only. It has great set bonuses, but it's proc ability allows it to proc a 6.7% or so bonus to every damage resistance type. This value can potentially stack up to three times.
    3. Demonic is an accolade. Heroes call it Eye of the Magus. You can check out the badge requirements at the HC wiki.
    4. Slow resistance is typically got from Winter's Gift proc, and also 2/3 PC set bonuses from Winter IOs. Rad Armor also gets some natively. If you can get up to 100%, nothing in the game can slow you down.
  18. @Sovera has posted a lot of information combining fiery aura and martial arts. I personally don't have experience combining the two, but recently just built a fiery aura tanker for the first time since fiery aura was buffed and it's pretty damn good. I suggest checking Sovera's Brunker post.

  19. Rad armor is a great set that uses resistance paired with Regen/absorb. There's a few build theories in that you can build towards its strengths or shore up weaknesses like no defense.

IMO, It works well with capped slow resistance and capped damage type resistances or as close as you can get (noting you can get extra resistance from might of the tanker procs, meltdown, melee core hybrid, demonic, rune of power). Building for defense didn't seem necessary given the resistance and absorb shield. Once you have resistances set, getting decent recharge is important because you can proc bom rad therapy and ground zero to help your AoE damage output.

  20. I enjoyed the arcs I've played of @cranebump , @Darmian, and @Ankylosaur. I also like the difficulty of @Linea's missions.

I've thought it would be a cool idea to have player-author review panel for awhile now that would vote on missions that get added to help draw attention to well written story arcs to help others see them. They could have representation from the HC mission writing team as well.
