  1. It was mostly just an observation. From my experience, between 75% and 90% of people just don't have any fucks to give, so much so that it is likely how they got their "toxic" moniker in the first place. Because of that, they probably wouldn't put forth the effort to pushback. Not saying your story isn't genuine, just that some jerks will pester you for a session and you will rarely ever be the target since they're too busy thrusting their bullshit on whoever has their ire at the time. Most jerks, though, just don't care or can't be bothered.
  2. That sounds like less than a handful of people. I refuse to believe you're doing this for 20+ people over and over getting the same results for each of them unless they are creating alt accounts to interact with you which might mean there is someone(s) specifically targeting you which might be quite dangerous.
  3. As a self-proclaimed toxic forum poster, sometimes it's just entertaining to point out contradictions and hypocrisy. Of course, most will refuse to admit they could ever commit such an action which is, in and of itself a contradiction.
  4. Perhaps it's just a trend in the industry to drop the whole "soft" indicating "software" because most of these companies aren't dealing as much in software as they are cloudware or that software in and of itself is becoming an outdated term being commonly replaced by app or application since it's more likely to encompass more aspects of executables and network applications. So maybe common use of "software" is on its way out similar to disks and cartridges will be completely replaced with cards/chips like tapes were and records before them. Not saying the term won't be used, it's just not common vernacular for what "games" have/will become kind of like how we still use tape's antiquated meaning despite not using any cassette tape formatting.
  5. Maybe I'm just weird but when I want to take screenshots or admire my costume, I just turn powers off. If I were to be encountered by Johnny Storm complaining he can't see his costume while he's Flame On!!'ed, I'd probably tell him no one can see him at all unless they wear a welder's mask.
  6. That doesn't favor Tanker though. That merely aids them in breaking even which kind of falls off since their limited focus spending will be split but by your logic, it disfavors Brutes too. And what if I said I'm not convinced by your statement? You'll probably tell me to try it myself. I only have access to the forums via my phone although I probably will be back home next week. I'd be more convinced with some evidence though. Energy Focus doesn't increase damage so there really isn't any AT synergy with Fury and EF. The point I was making is Stalker and Scrapper get a separate benefit of multi-stacks of Focus. You could say that is a byproduct of their inherent ability to crit and compensation for not getting extra/full damage crits and that wouldn't be a particular incongruency with Tanker/Brute...if focus had some other source. Because TF is the only source, it becomes a limitation the set didn't normally contend with. But regardless, I'm not really the person you have to convince. Overall, I'm indifferent either way as I can be rather open to entertaining various ideas and suggestions (it's what I enjoy most) but I get the feeling you hold a strong bias to the contrary, namely that any kind of possible alternatives would require "getting nerfed into oblivion" which I don't believe would happen and even if it did, you still should take these changes in the context that this is a beta test server...
  7. I don't see how that favors Tanker anymore than any other AT. Doesn't really have anything to do with EF since Tanker just has a larger cap by default or that Stalker lacks any other AoE option. I also notice a lack of Brute mentioned...but just springboarding off of the idea of having different spenders, you not only can tailor at least 1 effect to better contribute to the AT in some fashion while also promoting more replayability. I think you've said this to me three times now. Are there definitive calculations on stun chance, animation time and mez duration? AFAIK, there don't seem to be any stun chance changes (well, I mean, not including changing Stun, the power) only cast time changes.
  8. I mean, you're not convincing me as I'm not the target. It was mostly around those that would rather use BS instead of EP. If it's about power-pick economy, you might be flubbing your build to fit in the extra stun or just skipping it, really only leaving you with ET and TF as the staple targets of this buff. Tangent: since I haven't read anywhere close to this whole thread, did anyone consider that idea @Naraka posted about maybe diversifying the spenders by AT? Maybe give people the option for either if they just pick a different AT.
  9. I think you're kind of missing where I'm getting at in that overall, the stunning and EF mechanic is heavily centered on one power. And stunning 1 target is different from juggling several. I think part of the difference can be made up with fast-ET but that isn't a guaranteed stun either so you're going to be relying on random stuns or spitting out TFs as fast as you can. If you happen to not be a +rech build, you're obviously going to get even less stun that way. ...but feel free to discard my statements. I actually haven't logged into the game in some time.
  10. Is that using your builds that keep non-purple triangle AVs stunned? How much recharge do those builds have? You replied before I could hit reply. My guess is: a decent amount.
  11. Do you really want Power Siphon, Staff Mastery and Blood Thirst? Most of the other sets pretty much have BU anyway and the only sets that might have a disadvantage are Claws, Dual Blades and Dark Melee. So it's really a toss up. You trade our signature BU ability for the old ones, you're bogged down by Power Siphon (bleh) and no more free Form of Body on Staff and a worse longer casting BU in Blood Thirst but you get Soul Drain and FU and lose the ATO BU recharge. Is it worth it?
  12. Have you ever gotten lost in Portal Corp?
  13. No biggie. But with regards to the topic, I was one of the people advocating to increase Tanker AoEs as a kind of melee identity for a long time so I'm not particularly against AoEs or anything. In the general sense, I feel people have talked about balance, improvements and nerfs all over the forums and I do often hear people mentioning certain "issues" and what could have caused them such as the waning of the usefulness of some support and mez and people will prescribe their theories and solutions. Ultimately, though, fixing certain things like that are likely not ever going to be addressed and most are aware of it. When I get back home, I certainly will jump in for a bit, maybe roll up some characters on beta and try out some of the new powersets but I've also had my eye on some other games and private servers so who knows. I don't hold the flaws of games like these against them, I just adapt to them but I do like to talk about said flaws in my spare time.
  14. I've heard ideas about turning the power into a toggle instead so you could remotely detonate it. Another idea is maybe making it a stationary pet. Coupled with another power like Teleport target (or whatever the new name is) so you could teleport the bomb into a spawn, basically making it a movable trip mine. Maybe springing off of that idea, you could give it and trip mine a special interaction so you can put a trip mine ON the Time Bomb so when you teleport it and the trip mine explodes, it causes the time bomb to explode as well.
  15. Sarcasm can be difficult to read, especially if you don't know the person you're chatting with. And I'd hardly say you've wasted much time on the forums...or maybe this isn't the main account you post from. I've likely wasted far more time around here but I've always been a big fan of speculative discussions about ideas and suggestions.
  16. I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were the forum authority of ways to waste time on the forums. To me, at least, the thread is pretty light hearted save maybe a few people exchanging their 2 cents. That being said, there is a saying about knowing who's in power by who you can't criticize. I'd wager it probably could also extend to hushing people from talking about problems. If you can't just let arguments live or die by their argumentative merit on the public stage, smear, belittle and censorship then?
  17. Have you even read the thread?
  18. Costumes aren't a resource though. That'd be like saying clean clothes is a resource unlocked by the activity of doing laundry...it's merely an activity you partake in among various other activities that you do every day. You can be a completionist and unlock all the clean clothes resources every time by mining that laundry task the moment a dirty sock appears, or you can be the type that only bothers to unlock the clean clothes resources when you really need them and do your laundry in boxers. Ultimately, it's trying to elevate the importance of a very simple task that you likely already do.
  19. It can go various way, tbh. I was actually one of those people who ended up unlocking those Vanguard pieces for a MA/Shield character I created, a super intelligent mutant monkey that worked mostly with Longbow and Manticore. His specialty was teleportation, taking hints from ol' manti to influence his martial arts (I envisioned his Shield Charge was an actual teleporting attack since it mechanically is one). I wanted the Vanguard Shield but as I played the content, I added to the character's backstory and created a sort of "Iron Man" suit using the large frame (because he was actually a small diminutive monkey) that used the Vanguard parts and amended to his overall concept as his story developed. In his base form, he now had a bionic spine/tail lost during some of the harsh battles and used his Vanguard suit when the going got rough. While I can certainly understand why someone could feel annoyed and discard content as you described, it's only a fraction of the possibilities and undermines a lot of intent behind making certain features the way they are. Yes, people enjoy making characters the way they are but people also like to eat fast food and have sex with whoever they want but we shouldn't always get the things we want with no limits or structure behind them.
  20. You know what else holds sway over our thoughts and actions? The weather, food, our family, sickness, movies/media, our thoughts and actions...and yet I probably wouldn't say any of those are holding a gun to your head, even metaphorically. It's just sensationalizing something to sound like your argument holds more weight. None of that sounds as dire as you're trying to make it out to be. So I want a dominator or mastermind that has capped defense to all, near capped recharge and it needs to be x/y powersets and it has to be in the top 10% of DPS of all players...but I'm a newb player with 0 in-game inf. Am I being forced by an arbitrary restriction on my player ability of self expression because the game says I MUST do a, b and c to get any of that? At some point, you need to start looking at things from a objective point of view rather than appealing to emotions because you're hardcore trying to make people think whole swaths of stuff will suddenly be locked behind arduous herculean tasks that will take weeks of focused farming to obtain. You've only described horizontal progression vs vertical progression. One is more accepted than the other. I'll let the masses describe which are which. Are we reading people's minds still? Okay, well I think you just feel entitled to have whatever you want and think anything you don't enjoy is somehow horrible and should never see the light of day. I think you've never experienced any sort of delayed gratification thus you have no experience following a fulfilling path therefore everything should just be put in console commands to put it in your hand. Do you like that? Having someone completely misinterpret and strawman your points to such levels that you have to have it explained to you? I don't care about badges. I don't even really care about costume parts or auras being rewards for completion of certain tasks. But I do see that having things to do in the game, both power, progression, prestige and cosmetics are ALL enjoyable so long as they are implemented in a way that is achievable on your own time rather than requiring a huge scheduled plan of tasks that you have to organize with a large guild of people. Even if there are things requiring such levels of organization, I tend to have a realistic view of things that I know I want and things I know I can live without and thus skip. You simply have an UNREALISTIC perspective...or disingenuous to make an argument...it could be either way, honestly. Source?
  21. No no no. A system of "dids" and "did nots". The have/have not tends to revolve around aspects that one cannot obtain normally like generational wealth, talent or intelligence. Having unlockables in a game is merely an RPG system no different than locking that tier 9 power at level 32 or 38.
  22. What's this supposed to mean? Did they change AoEs? And I thought they were going to look into adding to more of the factions to add difficulty. They started sprucing up old factions like Hellions, Tsoo, Skulls, etc. If it were possible to lock new harder mobs by the notoriety (instead of simply by level), maybe it would be both a change in the curve as well as an option.
  23. It kind of is. As for unlocks, I still impose a "gotta collect 100 merits" on myself to "earn" an ATO unique on my Stalkers/Scrappers early on so I tend to turn off exp periodically to get more story arcs complete. If there's a negative to unlocking them like that for my characters, the positives are definitely doing more story arcs more often as well as joining in on as many SF/TF as possible. I also tend to notice the difference between not having the ATO and having it if I delay that gratification and keeps me playing that character more than if I just skirted to end-game using my trust fund from my marketeer characters. Again, I'm not advocating locking anything up but maybe hearing all the dissonance just sours my view of the forums overall. You don't have to like something to appreciate the positives of it, some of my mentors have said in different wording.
  24. That's a bit of an exaggeration. I don't think unlocking capes on live was somehow a "big gold crown saying how great you are". It's just a thing to get people to do some missions.
