  1. Yeah, that is planned... eventually there'll be at least two versions of every character, with and without wings... including Lydia (because maybe I want to wear an outfit that wings get in the way of). I've done a lot of costume/keybind work in the past along these lines. Interestingly, I have a character named Random who'd been floating around for ages adjusting in story until finally solidifying a bit and finding a system that really handled them well (City of Mist). They're able to emulate the powers of movie monsters, combining up to three traits at a time. Most often they default to Xenomorphs and the Grudge ghost in combination (Xenomorph moves fast. Xenomorph moves fast. Xenomorph moves fast. Kayako has hair. Kayako has hair. Kayako has hair. and then fill in the third with whatever mantra.)
  2. Yeah, edginess seems to be when the tragedy et al is chosen for the aesthetic more than story exploration. I know I go a lot for characters that are built with a recovery/redemption arc, but then I also like peppy and cheerful carefree characters occasionally.
  3. Thanks all for the help everyone!
  4. @TwoDee My favorite thing about the Nanoha franchise is just how aggressively casual it is with treating people like people. There's some angst and drama and such in the stories, but by and large the main characters just by default treat everybody like people. Cloned from another person - person Cyborg - person Intelligent magical device - person Humanoid magical construct - person Familiar - person Criminal - person The characters are just so casual about not making a big deal about the other characters' origins.
  5. This is work, definitely. But I think it would be a help. Especially for Natural and Tech origins.
  6. For me "Edgelord" is the sort of person that's "I'm making a grimdark character with dark and gritty visual aesthetic because it's cool" which gets tiresome if played unironically... but also hey, it's not going to bother me if someone else plays that sort of character. Cool, that's how they have fun, as long as they don't shove it in my face fine. That said, a character that is exploring a storyline of loss, recovery, redemption, and of those sort of things will tend to come across in the nature of edge... but there's a big difference between "I want to explore X story" and "I like the aesthetic of X story".
  7. By epics, I meant the ATs, Widow, Soldier, Warshade, and Kheldian just don't interest me. I've done the water-blood thing with my character Sangwine before. So could do that, though that personality is hella pacifist. So that build would be a lot more supporty.
  8. Hmm, I built them as a fire/martial dom but might re-roll with this idea. Incidentally, the reason why 5 is I don't want to par down the personalities further. Back in Champions there were 9 personalities, Base + 8 based on the magic costumes that spawned them... when I made the concept in Sentinels that number became hard to manage, plus writing and RPing that many personalities constantly is exhausting... so I parred down to 5... parring down to 3 feels like losing too much. Thanks for the thought.
  9. Through the main story and into the DLC on this and getting close to finished. (The image is me doing a TTRPG version of the main character)
  10. Might as well cross post this here from the costume thread, more appropriate here anyway. Quote from my other posting of this.
  11. A CoH rendition of a character idea I've played around with for a while, as far back as Champions (where they've got 9 souls instead of five) I also attached the Sentinels Comics versions descriptions on whom I based most of their appearances. Basically, Acacia, Athena, Ophelia, and Lydia got spawned off of magic bound up in cursed customs and/or fandom collectibles. There are some differences of course (the robot Ophelia is based on doesn't care about clothing, the anime demon Lydia is based on is a bit more academic in costume preferences where as Lydia leans heavily into the succubus aesthetic. Acacia doesn't like the villain aesthetic she started with but does have a case of the 80s. Athena liked what she started with.) I changed the powers up a bit from the Sentinels version for reasons of game limits. I went with Fire/Martial Dominator due to Athena and Lydia being the most expressive personalities of the five and Megan a close third. I'm assuming it's Ophelia's power that generates the endless shurikens. No keybinds for this yet. Eventually, I plan to get her 3 builds so I can have a very scrapptroller build for when Athena takes the reins, for example. Hmm... this might be better in the bio thread....
  12. Oh, huh, wasn't an alien, was an android... I can do that... Gravity works for transmuting random stuff out of the air
  13. We did something similar back in live but allowed any AT, Resurrection from Primary or Secondary power sets within 5 minutes was okay, and if the character died and wasn't rezzed by a primary/secondary power then they couldn't be played with the group but could be played solo (which I mostly ended up never doing) I ended up playing through something like 5 characters in that group.
  14. I don't have any interest in the epics to be honest
  15. The animation time would be the issue here, but having the option to hold a weapon for, say, Fire Blast, or do the throw grenade animation for Tar Pit would be nice. Would make the "weapon" tag a default in most cases for the costume creator.
  16. Might also go back to the Controller idea to vacillate more between supporty Acacia and fighty Athena
  17. The shapechanging is mostly limited to shifting between the different persona forms and yeah, I was going for the costume change mechanic there.
  18. Hmm, maybe Illusion or Mind / Martial Dominator
  19. So, the concept is one body with five souls that treat each other as sisters and sort of time-share the body. Originally each had their own powers, and those powers were mostly only available when that person was upfront and forward... recently have decided more that they could share out their powers and borrow things here and there but that they would switch up which personality was leading the strategy for the moment. personalities: base personality - was the "original" before the magical event that caused them to split, probably is the source of the shapeshifting powers martial artist - high agility, very aggressive demon - fire and flight, very showboaty, more performer than battler vampire/telepath - telepathy, tends to be very pacifistic alien - transmutational abilities, changing matter from one thing to another. Kind of trying to figure out what archetype to take to represent them... and I wish we could get 5 builds instead of 3 so each sister could have a specific build...but oh well.
  20. This segment is so relatable. I've started to realize I'm ace and am very likely on the autism spectrum somewhere, or some other branch of neurodivergent, and if I try to point out a bit that makes things uncomfortable for me or someone else I've been getting a lot of "well I don't see a problem so you're probably lying or being silly" type arguments. And people throw out "it's just a fictional game stop taking it so seriously. it's not real." etc. (Related... Baldur's Gate 3 itself is shaping up to be quite fun, but the forums are hella toxic). Incidentally, apparently my friends realized I was ace long before I did... one of them points out that one of the first conversations I had with her included me saying "I'll probably have kids eventually because I'm supposed to but I'm not that interested" with a heavy amount of "what do you mean you're just now realizing?"
  21. When I play a knockback heavy character set I tend to create two builds one for solo and one for team... at least if I plan to team at all, but I usually have set characters I always team with and set characters I mostly solo with... so it hasn't been an issue since arriving at Homecoming, But yeah, maximum KB is hella fun.
  22. I dearly want to play or run Sentinels Comics at some point. I have a supervillain group idea that includes a couple of bitter types that could reasonably become good and three absolute monsters two of whom are really good at manipulation. And I have lots of good character ideas.
  23. I had an NPC in a Scion game way back in 1e (which I ran for 5 years because apparently I love torturing myself... 2e sooo much better) who was a thief with Animal (Squirrels) purview... at demigod level I gave her a Creatures birthright that was a bunch of squirrels that could eat magic... so they could undo wards and magic traps for her to get to what she wanted to steal. She was an Italian daughter of Hermes with a sort of frenemy relationship to the PCs who kept sort of stepping in and ruining some of her plans. But she ended on their side.
  24. What sort of anime, that's a medium not a genre. Some of the comments sounds like it's at the younger end of Shonen anime. Granted lots of bleedover since they organize by demographic rather than genre... and you get people that watch anime from all sorts. Shonen aims at boys aged 12-18 and tends to revolve around themes of friendship, good vs evil, adventure, training arcs, etc. The younger end tends to be pretty kiddie.
  25. A friend of mine offered to grab a commission for me at what sounds like it's going to be Fred Perry's last convention and I opted to get a pic of the PCs from the Scion 2e game I'm running. It's very much not a standard Scion game since we started in a Terra Incognita that's a bit disconnected from the standard Pantheons. This is the Turquoise Plains band and they've been trying to save TP City from the consequences of Canopy Research's plans. Erin Vetinari, laid off "essential worker" and dragon heir of the Linnorm Flight... she's a reincarnation of an unknown dragon. (Nomad, Destroyer, Watcher) - Title: The Sublime Transience of Life Mochizuki Rei, musician, swordswoman, vampire, Mythos Scion of the Crimson Moon/Moon Presence (Monster, Cosmos, Warrior) - Title: Heir of the Millennium Castle Miri Spencer - genetic conglomeration of multiple different types of titanspawn, gorgon for sure, medic, sniper (Monster, Healer, Sage) - Title: Bloody Balm of Esoteric Healing Madni Tawul - Hylian Scion of Din, created to be a hero but for a much different world, warrior, bride to nature (Primeval, Judge, Destroyer) - Title: Din's Closed Fist Side note, while both Madni and Erin are "Destroyer" Erin gets it from Dragon and Madni from Titanspawn so there's different sets of powers and implications.
