  2. Airwolf - absolutely! Though how to update it in a drone combat world where even the jet fighter pilots wonder as to their future, I don't have a clue. Automan - um, yeaaah. Not really sure how to bring that back without it looking even cheezier. Super Force - I've never heard of this one. Knight Rider - They actually tried to bring it back once as an ensemble show. I never could pin down a viewing time so watching was hit or miss. I would be for a new Knight Rider. I can think of a couple of directions: 1. Michael as the new director. He was designated heir to the founder, replacing Garth Knight. He's too old to be in the field now, and Devin has passed away. He's the perfect choice to lead the team. Following the founder's tactic, Michael handpicks an heir, trains him and sends him or her out with the latest version of the KITT A.I. (maybe even a pair of drivers.) One thing I'd like to see from this version: K.I.T.T. or its replacement as a mobile A.I. with the ability to pull the A.I.'s computer much like one would pull out a car radio/music system to keep it from being stolen. That gives the A.I. the ability to take control of any of a fleet of jacked-up cars under Knight 's Law Enforcement division. 2. A complete reboot with David Hasselhoff playing the elderly Knight who founded the program. Regardless, I'd like to see a bit more behind the scenes of the Knight automotive business. Based on the comments in the original show, the elder Knight was one of the big auto producers in the early half of the 20th Century. We should be aware of automotive factories, offices, etc. With the Law Enforcement program, we should see more than just a team of three or four. There should be an R & D team that came up with both the A.I. and the vehicle itself. The mobile base mechanic should be just the field tech, so to speak. Starblazers was one of my first delves into Japanese entertainment alongside Robotech, and live action shows Ultraman and Space Giants. While I was always puzzled how a rotting ship hulk would be considered a good framework for a powerful space ship, I otherwise enjoyed the show. The question I'd have is: how do you think a modern show should proceed? Should it reboot the franchise, or continue on? And if the latter...in what way?
  3. In the words of Yello: Ooh yea! I occasionally here talk about the best animated theme song from the past. 1990s X-men theme song frequently comes up, sometimes GI Joe: The Movie's theme. While rightly so for both, the Galaxy Rangers' theme is my go-to mention. I'd really like to see them update this, while still feeling like the original. I watched a few episodes again a couple of years back, and it was wonderful...however, the editing was poor by today's standards and the gaps between comments in the conversations were wide. I'd really like to see a modern edit to the old show, tighten it up a bit, in addition to creating a new modern version. They'll also need to update Doc. His tech was straight out of TRON, which was considered amazing for the time, but they'll need to re-imagine it so it doesn't look lame in an era where A.I. does exit. There's some other tweaks I'd like as well, such as explanation (perhaps a visual montage of the team's operations) as to why four different powersets with different origins require the same tapping of the badge to activate them. (Yes, as an adult I know understand it is tapping into a temporary "battery" of bio-energy to supercharge their "innate" abilities until they either turned it off or drained the "battery", but as a kid that explanation when right over the head.)

  6. I see your point in regards to the "top dog" characters, however, it gave me a thought: what about lesser, but recognizable characters? Twinshot and the Shining Stars, for example. Mission, police/radio contacts like Detective Frasenbacker. Even Matthew and Dana Habashy. Individually, they might look generic but together, they're easily identifiable.
  7. Tall thin guy who pops up in public appearances from, ah, time to time. Likes to make big, splashy flash mob appearances with his homies. I first saw him years ago hawking meat stick snacks. For some odd reason he's adapted the name of his old farm repair business as his nom de guerre.
  8. I appreciate the insight! That said, your short answer seems to be based off the assumption that the damage was localized. We don't know that for certain, but there are hints in the game that it is pretty much the full zone. BaBs no longer posted there and the gates sealed, for example. Still, in counterpoint, we honestly just don't know whether large or small. I'm all for this, as long as it truly feels like a hazard zone, as in "You're six rungs up the Incarnate ladder. You'll need a squad." Recently the original hazard zones have just felt like standard zones, and I feel comfortable, if slightly cautious, entering them with an equal-level character.

  10. From a game lore perspective, Galaxy is the most recently destroyed zone. Unless I've forgotten or missed something, we don't even know just how severe the destruction is, save for the couple of blocks in the tutorial, and that's quite extensive. Boomtown has the first step towards rebuilding going, and Faultline is farther along. I'd rather these get the focus for revival first. It would look odd and suspicious if Galaxy were given the fast track beyond those two and the other destroyed zones like The Hollows.
  11. Don't forget that both are also in Fort Trident. Well, pretty much everyone has forgotten Fort Trident, despite it's potential usefulness. 😔 Just for discussion's sake, taking the side of reviving Statesman: it's exactly what could be improved in reviving him. Give the guy a really interesting character development. He's been dead. No need to stick 100% to his old nature, such as there was. This is a chance for him to grow.

  13. Not necessarily trying to set up something for devs to consider, but rather possibly trying to raise awareness across all players. I'll admit the question came from a point of frustration where I often see an invasion event that no player attends. I guess I'm trying to bring to light why that is, and perhaps in the process, find a solution for all. It could simply be that raising awareness brings people to the less-trafficked areas for invasion events. I agree with both summations. From a solution standpoint, I see two areas needing address: 1. Getting there quickly, especially in regards to those zones having pathing not well known. 2. Knowing where in the zone to set up camp. In regards to these, what might player-driven solutions be? It would seem to me in the second one, that a group of players locate an optimal spot in each zone that hosts an invasion, one far from police drones and with enough room for a league and its pets to maneuver. It probably also should be close to zone access of some kind. Peregrine Island, for example, has the agreed-upon fighting space near the supergroup portal. Has such research been attempted and published by anyone? Pathing is more of a problem, and I'm not sure there's a player-created solution to it, but that's why I'm putting the question out there. Possible solutions from a dev team side mean a lot of work, but some wild ideas might be to remove the invasion from really out-there zones like the Shadow Shard, or create a teleport or an assembly function that will port a character to the event (possibly via the LFG function?), or even show a temporary map path to the access points needed to reach an event, so that even a new player could find it. But such may never come about, so it would be better to discover a player-based solution. I've not seen a separation of terminology. "Zone events" in the wiki cover both. If the development team has separate terminology, I'd be happy to learn it. It's actually not a bad idea to separate one-zone events from multiple-zone events. The latter would probably include the Ghost Ship, since it covers both Talos and Independence Port. I like the idea of having a fire event elsewhere, but I'm concerned about watering down the results (pun intended). Perhaps a very similar event elsewhere, but with additional badges and perhaps a few change-ups to make it interesting (maybe tossed explosive devices pose a threat). A different enemy group involved as well, just as you stated. I'd been thinking along the lines of either different multi-zone events only showing up in lesser-trafficked areas, to encourage visits, or making one of the events only show up in these areas, and the other events say away, to encourage traffic to it. Again, a player-driven solution is to be preferred, and it simply might be raising awareness, as I state at the start of this post.

  15. Which zones (if any) that currently have zone events do you feel totally squander the use of that event? While I am specifically thinking of the zone events Rikti invasion, Nemesis incursion, and Zombie apocalypse, because they appear in so many zones, you may be considering another, including one that only appears in a single zone. What stagnant, possibly dead, possibly long-forgotten fiction franchise that had a visual representation in the past (TV, movie, internet) and fitting the topic of this forum (Comic, Hero & Villain Culture) would you like to see revitalized, updated, generally given a new chance at life? I can think of several, but I think the first one I'd name would be The Wild, Wild West. The 1960s TV show was considered both "proto-steampunk" and the precursor to most "weird wild west" stories, and was just great fun. The 1990s film, though very clever in some of its steampunk material and definitely having some moments reminiscent of the TV show (such as the room with lifesize "pictures"), was not that fun, and completely killed the fine franchise established by the TV show. I'd like to see a new work, preferably a series, that sticks closer to the TV show while building upon it, and using more special effects for an expanded steampunk world, but not so that they overpower the story and acting. Expanding that thought: Regarding "building upon it", I could see a somewhat darker show, not so much that it doesn't become a "family show" (which the movie was not) but enough to give some good scary moments. I'd also like the inclusion of a 3rd and 4th agent to be (initially) unknown to West and Gordon, namely the two men operating the Wanderer's engine. Until his death, I used to say that Michael Clarke Duncan would have been superb for one of these roles as the train's stoker. Sort of a John Henry type with muscle to back the team in an emergency, and the ability to move through the African-American population of the Old West, observing and gathering intel in ways two white guys could not. This stoker would actually be a highly-educated man, appointed to the position secretly by President Grant himself (and answering directly to the president), but asked to pretend to be a mere stoker and to keep his true nature secret as long as possible to gain advantage by being overlooked. With MCD's sad passing, I think Henry Simmons ("Agents of SHIELD") could nicely fill this role. This is not to say the team becomes a full squad of four main characters, but that the engineer and stoker will play stronger secondary roles than the TV show had. A revitalized work would also bring back Dr. Miguelito Loveless, and I'd love for Peter Dinklage to take the role. Even better (to my thinking at least), keep one thing from the failed 1990s movie: the name Arliss Loveless, just the name, and give it to Warwick Davis. Have the character appear first in the series, simply called "Dr. Loveless", but when he fails and is arrested, have the audience discover his name is "Arliss", then in a tag scene, show the "real" Dr. Loveless singing with Antoinette and receiving word of Arliss' arrest. He then laments his "inferior" relative's actions but feels duty bound to break Arliss out of prison. This sets the stage for the eventual clash between the Secret Service team of the Wanderer and the forces of Dr. Miguelito Loveless.

  18. Is it possible to create an "either this or that" situation? That is, leave the Shauna Braun arc in place, but also present a "true blue" arc that could be substituted for those who prefer the "true blue" status?

  21. For those still learning the lore, there will be spoiler talk in this thread. Not everyone may bind it behind a curtain. Is there anything in the game lore that says that Nemesis has been introduced to, or is at least aware of...
  22. I had much the same line of thinking. Bringing him back at the same level of power, same everything...no. To me that leaves two options, both of which I find intriguing: 1. Bring him back in either a powerless or lower-powered status. @Scarlet Shocker gives a good powerless description so I'll not dwell on that. "Lower powered" to me has plenty of story options. For example: The game introduces a new NPC hero that integrates into the ongoing story. His back story is a mystery. He has no memory and limited power, and for some reason is not recognized by anyone, though a sense of familiarity persists. Like any player, he works his way up the skills ladder, and we encounter him periodically in this process with his story gradually opening up. Eventually, a major story both unlocks his memories and recognition by those around him. However, he's not the elite power of old. Instead, this time, he's taking the "slow" path towards Incarnate power, avoiding the trap of the "fast" path as before. His rediscovered memories are his real asset. He may rejoin the Phalanx, but in an advisor's capacity, and more likely as an auxiliary member. 2. We get him back but in a flashback zone like Chimerora. Something like 1930s Paragon City at the start of the Freedom Phalanx. He's every bit as powerful, but young, and rough around the edges with experience. This also gives us a chance to meet and interact with his wife: Lord Recluse's sister and Ms Liberty's grandmother.
  23. I'm game for it. If I understand correctly, you're basically saying a player could gain the temporary use of a War Walker similar to getting the nuke from Warburg?
  24. Actually, given the scenario you've presented, I could see an EB being controlled, but at a diminished capacity representing a stronger, on-going resistance to your control. That would also mean a shorter control time. Perhaps it is converted to fight at a Boss level to show that resistance? My concern is what happens in a scenario where your teammates have wiped out every NPC on the field except the Big Bad? How does your character contribute meaningfully at that time? I've even recently been teamed with PUGs where one or more players has an "I Win" power that destroys every NPC in a grouping in one blast, possibly two if the other player next to them has a similar ability. That doesn't leave much opportunity for the Manipulator to react. Perhaps if the archetype had a rez power that could resurrect one or more controlled characters that fell in battle, it might negate the concern?
