Avengers: Doomsday - Full Cast Announcement
Techwright replied to ZacKing's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
If they're still doing the multi-verse stuff, there's always the possibility that Evans is Johnny Storm...again. Perhaps Evan's Storm is the last survivor of his universe's Fantastic Four and is set in opposition to Downey's Doom. Sort of the resistance leader. It has the advantage that those who never saw the previous Fantastic Four will at least be familiar with the character of Johnny Storm due to the July 2025 release of Fantastic Four: First Steps. -
Petition to change the colour of the resist sets

Well, it's first name is O-S-C-A-R. -
Very nice! The map was a clever touch, as was the portal room, and the innovative toy shop windows. There's several entertaining things to find. How was the surface of the sidewalk surrounding the ice rink created?

Unlike holiday presents, coal distribution is now a year-round business. No rest this year for the bringer. Some folks are just begging for their lumps...a great many lumps. The Coal Bringer Seismic Blast/Earth Manipulation Blaster (You've got a little smudge on your cheek.)

Well, for starters, kneepads and Depends undergarments.

I've missed it somewhere along the line, but I take it from the comment that "Vanguard" is the code world for the collective GM team, separate from other groupings in the complete strata that we players collectively call the "dev team"? Are there other such code word groupings? Speaking of Victory, how far along in process is the conversion to the 6th Shard? And Paragon will be, what, the 7th? Widower, in mentioning it back in January, said "a couple of months".

Zombie Apocalypse - zombies not spawning
Techwright replied to legendaryjman's topic in General Discussion
I read through this and never noticed a comment related to your player group size. Were you always soloing it, or did you try to team up or at least move near other players' characters? If I recall correctly, zombies can spawn at the completion of a Katie Hannon Task Force, so there may yet be chances to test variables before October. -
Christmas and other "events" are kitsch for idiots
Techwright replied to temnix's topic in General Discussion
Well, I'm not sure about Halloween or Valentines, but the Winter Event makes perfect sense. There's so many who take a week or two to travel over the holidays each year (not to mention all the parties, drop-ins, holiday shopping, etc.), and that would mean they'd miss out. Extending it to a month gives every reasonable hope of them getting at least a week to play the event. -
First I've heard of it, and I'm guessing I'm not alone. From a quick look at some footage on YouTube, it appears to be 3rd person, and I like that. I can't play 1st person for long without getting ridiculously nauseous. But then, like Lunar Ronin said about the greater CoH population, I'm not really into PvP, especially against strangers. I did play a lot of the PvP elements of WoW back in the day, but ended after a clear demonstration of wildly unbalanced characters. (Long story.)

Well THAT went faster then I expected...

Nice! Now on to the other several dozen characters... -

Maybe add a 10% the zombies will start dancing to Thriller? 🤔 -

Knowing Marvel, it's probably a copyrighted name of a minor character used once in the back a crowd scene.

It's all those Asian characters. Got me completely turned around. That and I've not had enough coffee...for decades. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Tub Ci probably is pronounced Cub Tea, though, yeah?
-
Interesting. First I've heard of this. I always assumed that it was translated into English more or less phonetically (why would people do otherwise? And yes, I know the "otherwise" is done all the time.) I've always pronounced it with a hint of a T at the start of "sue", but now I'm curious as well. What does this mean for the name Cub Ti? I've been pronouncing it just as it looks in English: "cub" like a bear cub, and "tea" like the fluid which fills British veins. I'm now expecting to hear that "Yum Sauce" is pronounced completely different to what I've been saying for decades.

Now in the lull before the (Winter) storm. Mere minutes from now, we shall be able to stand around a roaring fire, pretending to drink copious amounts of fictional hot chocolate and spiced cider watching skiers who somehow just discovered the slopes, all while waiting to rescue creepy diapered baby-men from somehow less creepy living snowmen and anthropomorphic reindeer so that we may earn candy canes. Such a cozy, nostalgic holiday.

Not a bad idea. That said, and I've no idea how much nasty coding this would take, I'd love for a checkbox to be added to the email process whereby it just fills in my global, just to keep from mistyping anything. That or (and I realize this is even more coding) a drop down list option where I could add, say, my top 3 addresses to which I email. That way I could quickly select my alt account(s) as well, or send to a BFF consistently.

That was a pretty wasted ending, IMHO. And that reminds me that the final season of Beauty and the Beast (the original one, never saw the reboot except for trailers, which didn't strike me as having the same tone) should have never happened. They should have wrapped with a TV movie and a main character not dead.

At least you spelled it correctly. I lost a major chunk of funding a few months back because of a space in the name. Apparently there's someone out there who has copied my global, but didn't use a space between words. I typed too fast and left out the space. Do you have a second account with which you could use a character to aid transfers? I've taken to doing that for any major funds movements between characters. It takes a bit longer, but is much safer, at least from my butter fingers.

Anyone watching this? I've had to forego D+ as a cost-cutting measure while I'm taking a career break to help an injured family member convalesce. I'm curious if the project is living up to the hype.

For me, fun is not impacted assuming a different second powerset is chosen. I have multiple melee characters utilizing invincible. They each, however, have different second powersets and some are different archetypes. Outside of melee, I do have range and support with duplications. Again, a different second powerset is utilized for each. The timing of the question is curious for me, though. I've two blasters with the primary fire power set. One's secondary is fire, the other's is ice. I was working on upgrading both the other day, put in the same enhancement sets on three different primary powers, and got...very different damage results for each. I've been trying to figure out how that happens, and the amount of time needed to hunt for answers is affecting the fun is having a negative impact.

This is why I've been saying ever since color options came out, that subtle colors are far more powerful a choice than bright flashy colors. Minimum effects are as well, especially when applied to other people's characters. Were you in the game when color options first came out? The amount of garish glare everywhere was just ridiculously painful

Airwolf - absolutely! Though how to update it in a drone combat world where even the jet fighter pilots wonder as to their future, I don't have a clue. Automan - um, yeaaah. Not really sure how to bring that back without it looking even cheezier. Super Force - I've never heard of this one. Knight Rider - They actually tried to bring it back once as an ensemble show. I never could pin down a viewing time so watching was hit or miss. I would be for a new Knight Rider. I can think of a couple of directions: 1. Michael as the new director. He was designated heir to the founder, replacing Garth Knight. He's too old to be in the field now, and Devin has passed away. He's the perfect choice to lead the team. Following the founder's tactic, Michael handpicks an heir, trains him and sends him or her out with the latest version of the KITT A.I. (maybe even a pair of drivers.) One thing I'd like to see from this version: K.I.T.T. or its replacement as a mobile A.I. with the ability to pull the A.I.'s computer much like one would pull out a car radio/music system to keep it from being stolen. That gives the A.I. the ability to take control of any of a fleet of jacked-up cars under Knight 's Law Enforcement division. 2. A complete reboot with David Hasselhoff playing the elderly Knight who founded the program. Regardless, I'd like to see a bit more behind the scenes of the Knight automotive business. Based on the comments in the original show, the elder Knight was one of the big auto producers in the early half of the 20th Century. We should be aware of automotive factories, offices, etc. With the Law Enforcement program, we should see more than just a team of three or four. There should be an R & D team that came up with both the A.I. and the vehicle itself. The mobile base mechanic should be just the field tech, so to speak. Starblazers was one of my first delves into Japanese entertainment alongside Robotech, and live action shows Ultraman and Space Giants. While I was always puzzled how a rotting ship hulk would be considered a good framework for a powerful space ship, I otherwise enjoyed the show. The question I'd have is: how do you think a modern show should proceed? Should it reboot the franchise, or continue on? And if the latter...in what way?

In the words of Yello: Ooh yea! I occasionally here talk about the best animated theme song from the past. 1990s X-men theme song frequently comes up, sometimes GI Joe: The Movie's theme. While rightly so for both, the Galaxy Rangers' theme is my go-to mention. I'd really like to see them update this, while still feeling like the original. I watched a few episodes again a couple of years back, and it was wonderful...however, the editing was poor by today's standards and the gaps between comments in the conversations were wide. I'd really like to see a modern edit to the old show, tighten it up a bit, in addition to creating a new modern version. They'll also need to update Doc. His tech was straight out of TRON, which was considered amazing for the time, but they'll need to re-imagine it so it doesn't look lame in an era where A.I. does exit. There's some other tweaks I'd like as well, such as explanation (perhaps a visual montage of the team's operations) as to why four different powersets with different origins require the same tapping of the badge to activate them. (Yes, as an adult I know understand it is tapping into a temporary "battery" of bio-energy to supercharge their "innate" abilities until they either turned it off or drained the "battery", but as a kid that explanation when right over the head.)
