Passed by a poster promoting a regional Comic-con today, and it gave me a crazy idea: a mission or mission arc for a comic-con-like event in Paragon City. Use the combat arena hallway map (the full 360) as the mission's booth and sales area, and the internal doors as leads to convention rooms to meet stars. It could be fun to put a lot of cameos both in the convention rooms and signing autographs on the sales floor. It could be the perfect opportunity to have a bit of crossover fun with the theater movie posters (think rooms with the actors taking questions), and somehow work the Summer Blockbuster into one of the discussions. Cameos could be established characters in the game, or parodies on real world characters and folks. Do a little elbow-nudge chuckle with our bovine super groups friends with the announcement of a "live action" College-Age Cloned Paladin Oxen movie. That sort of stuff. Possible mission access: unlocks with the purchase of your first prismatic aether costume. Initially you'll be sent in undercover and will need a cosplay as your disguise. Your prismatic aether costume should be it. Though once all insanity breaks loose on the show floor, it should no longer be necessary. As I said, just a crazy idea.

And the cat people will want a kitten. Actually, I'm a little surprised the shoulder critters weren't given an alternate life under the glass dome.
-
I remember this. It sounds (looks?) like something that might be tooled to work with the Prismatic Aether vendor system, though I'd strongly suggest it would be a player-side-only visual. Not everyone on your PUG would want to see 1960s campy lettering in a fight.

Introducing: Hardcore Paragon / Rogue Isles
Techwright replied to venetiasilver's topic in General Discussion
Hoo boy. This again. I tried that...once. 😛 In the words of the immortal Johnny Cash: "Ain't no grave can hold my body down." -
Those shoulders would be a definite plus to the costume creator. Which A.I. was used to generate this "drawing", and was there a particular artists named for the A.I. to focus upon? It looks very good!

CoH Characters as Mutants and Masterminds 3rd Edition PC's

None of the image links show results, though the Measurement table does display. -
Any chance of stabilizing that image? I'd like to see it!

Disney's necessary, deep budget cuts might be the best thing for Marvel. Ever since Endgame, Marvel went crazy with stories for everything, paralleling the introduction of the multi-verse. While some results hit well, a lot did not. Marvel forgot the main hunt was the main hunt. Budget necessity is pruning away all the rabbit trails, hopefully to settle into a leaner, meaner package that strikes like the top hits from Phases 1 thru 3.

I remember those colors from the 1970s. I have many good memories of the 1970s. Those were not among them, by far. That, terrible hair styles, and coarse polyester clothing. 😝 The TVA color scheme in Loki took some adjustment on my part. Fortunately, it wasn't quite so violent.

I play a lot of doms and controllers. I play a few tanks and brutes, too. I love them all. It all boils down to communication, something PUGs just don't do much of anymore, besides greetings and team transport notifications and thank yous. Team dynamics have changed, too. Originally, it was understood tanks would herd, so I observed controllers holding off until the tank had either run around a corner to a point where the controller was waiting to lock it down, or the tank just hoovered them all to it and it was clear from the crowd that this was the moment to lock it down. But that was folks coming into the game from the old tank-heal-dps trinity concept elsewhere. Now everyone and everything feels run-and-gun. Again, communication is the answer. If the tank has a plan beyond run-and-gun, tell the controller/dominator, don't isolate them. Frankly, I'd LOVE for the tank to tell me the gameplan when I'm playing a controller. It would mean my holds and immobilizations will have more bite due to the target density the tank creates. Teamwork is a beautiful thing.

I honestly thought we had a thread for this already. Using search, though, it looks like it was only referenced in the D+ announcement threads. So, new trailer dropped two days back. Lots more detail. If you've got a check list of those elements that must appear in a Star Wars production, you can check "scary big monster" off the list. I'm just a tad concerned that they may be going too hard over into the 1980s look. I don't want "authentic Star Wars" to be nothing more than a sticker kit of Arabash lettering applied to a sign or two. I'm glad the latter half of the trailer feels more like Star Wars. Perhaps that is their intent: start the story with a very big "we're an Amblin film, people!" vibe, then break with that in a "we're not in Kansas, anymore" moment, ending up in a "that's not a moon..." atmosphere. I could rally to that.

*Sigh*...you do know that if they do that, then somebody...a certain somebody...is going to be asking for an owl. 😉

You never know. This might just be that universe in the multiverse. Then again, our universe's great claim to uniqueness might be as the only universe where the young eat Tide pods while recording it for posterity they may never live to create.

earning XP is to fast
Techwright replied to His Most Royal HighAss's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Didn't this use to be an option? Reduce XP to receive bonus INF? I think I remember hearing something about that being exploited? Frankly, I'd love that while running Praetorian missions. I've no problem turning off the XP in the Options panel for my characters, but it would be nice to make some extra cabbage while functioning that way. -
New costume temp power for next Halloween

Loving the Groucho glasses idea. I'd be happy with a red ball clown nose, too. It could double-duty on Red Nose Day. -
Yes, but set a timer for a long recovery. It's really hard on the knees.

Is that like Señor Senior, Sr.?

Busiest Time of the Year - R3n4m3M4g3dd0N!!

It's obviously been years, but I did a check during the original game for chess pieces and found that pretty much every chess piece was affiliated with one of the two big comic houses, even if most were obscure characters. Back then, I opted for the adjective to make the distinction. Since not all chess set pieces are black or white, I used something like "Red Bishop". Chess identifiers worked as well, such as "Queen's Bishop". Incidentally, continuing the gaming name concept, playing cards were pretty well wrapped up by DC comics thanks to Batman's nemesis group, the Royal Flush gang. The group apparently has had something of a revolving roster, leading to several card names being used. I don't know, though, about other terminology like say "Two of a Kind" or "Dead Man's Hand". -
Thanksgiving character? Check a bit more. Maybe you can find his medical sidekick Dressing.

Obvious nope (but you knew that), but as I recall, someone did buy the rights for it back in the early OG days.

Fastest way to level to 19 (not sitting)
Techwright replied to Diantane's topic in General Discussion
I may have missed it mentioned, but are either of you doing this with P2W START vendors' 2XP bonus? I start new characters with that bonus and run DFB to at least level 16. It's usually 45min. to an hour, but honestly most of that time is the slog of waiting for teams to form. If I had 7 other hatchlings agreeing to stay with me for an hour of DFBs back-to-back, I've reason to believe we'd hit 20 or likely higher. MSR below 35? Huh. I didn't realize. Interesting. -
Brief movement vid It's not the greatest image, but it gets the idea across. Path Aura / Frost - set to pure white Inherent / Prestige Power Slide / Bright - colors: blue (9 across 9 down) off-white (9 across, 0 down) In addition to running the Prestigue Power Slide, I like to run Athletic Run simultaneously when I can. It's an endurance drain, but it gives speed for an even better look in motion. The effect looks great with a jumping power as well, but again, end drain to consider.

Marvel / D+ 2025 slate
Techwright replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Ironheart: This one's going to be tough no matter whom they put into the role. It's the character that falls the most into the shadow of RDJ's Iron Man, and that's possibly going to be harder to follow than Peter Davison following Tom Baker, or Brandon Routh stepping into the Christopher Reeves role. The rogue bit I'm narrowing eyes at. I'm already miffed (that's British for really mad, right? 😉) that they seem to be turning Sharon Carter into a bad guy. Marvel Zombies: I am....so...tired...of zombie stories. (and vampire stories. Sorry, Snarky.) I tolerated, and even enjoyed a little, the What If...? ones because I'd assumed the stories were short. Not stoked for this. Wonder Man: not going to lie...years back when it was batted around that Nathan Fillion might be offered the role, I was stoked. I've no real viewing experience with Yahya Abdul-Mateen except for his role as Black Manta, so I offer no opinion on him. I'll consider it tabula rasa. Ed Harris is fine. I love Sir Ben, though I can take or leave Trevor (guess I'm still sore at the fake-out in IM3. Kingsley would have been awesomely terrifying had that been the real guy.) I always thought the Grim Reaper to be a rather silly character (ooo..he has a sythe for a hand!) until I saw the character as voiced by Lance Henriksen in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. There the character was smart and efficient even if he had a rather silly cybernetic attachment. Hey, I rather like Garik, even if he is a humble tailor and nothing more. Animation also allows for aging actors (see X-Men '97 and The Incredibles 2) and replacements if an actor dies. These days, all I ask is for high quality story lines and high quality animation. Both of those, along with replacement actors and aging actors were found in the Star Wars' Tales of the Jedi, and I loved it. Daredevil was one of my favorite characters when I could get hold of a comic growing up. Unfortunately, I later learned what I was reading was toned down from the main DD comics. While I believe violence, even extreme violence can play a legitimate role (see Saving Private Ryan), I'm not a fan of gratuitous, extreme violence, so after watching a bit of the Netflix series, I tuned out. I'd hoped that MCU might have reeled that in a bit to target a larger audience, something more along the lines of Ben Affleck's movie (still pretty violent), but I gather it won't. I'm on the fence with this one. I know that's likely not the popular view.
