  1. The thing that makes Phantom Army so good isn't just the damage it deals, but the fact that it summon three "invulnerable to pretty much everything except Hamidon" decoys that taunt while dealing damage. They are more than just DPS but act as an aggro management tool as well. Haunt's are, for all intents and purposes, a DoT, and the only aggro management that provide comes from damage they deal to foes that are otherwise un-engaged by anyone else. With enough recharge you can have three permanent, nigh unkillable, pocket tanks at all times. That leave Illusion controllers free to hold, deceive and dish out damage with impunity.
  2. Spiritual alpha is a fine choice. Agility is also a decent alternative if you're also trying to stack defense. Ion judgement is great. Degenerative is fine, especially vs. AV's or Giant Monsters. Most people go for Reactive Radial but Degenerative is a good alternative too. Cimerorans are indeed the highest dps lore pets. One thing to keep in mind though, if you're soloing +4/x8 missions they will probably die in seconds :P Ageless can be a good choice depending on your build, but I'm not sure why you'd need it as an ill/rad though. The right build can net you all the recharge you need to get perma-Hasten/AccelMetab/Phantom Army, so the recharge from Ageless is kind of overkill. You might want to consider other choices such as the Clarion core line which at tier 3 and higher gives permanent mez protection to everything. Another good choice is Barrier to give you incredible amounts of defense AND resistance... and incidentally also gives that to your Cimroran buddies to keep them alive when soloing particularly difficult foes. For hybrid, Support is kind of a waste if you're thinking to use the "pets get extra buffs" bit. The only pet you'll be buffing is your Phantasm. Phantom Army's decoys can't be buffed through outside means (things like the leadership toggles do nothing for Phantom Army and Support works like those do sort of). I like going for the Assault Radial line since that gives Phantasm and Phantom Army the ability to "double hit". The reason this works is because Assault is a buff on YOU not the pets. They simply inherit it from you when they are spawned. The CATCH however is that you must re-summon your pets after activating Assault for them to inherit it (because it isn't a buff on them and they can't inherit Assault's properties without being freshly summoned while you have the Assault buff).
  3. I'd honestly like to see conductive as well as most other big aoe and personal shield auras have a minimalFX or noFX option. My fire armor character already has a fiery aura as part of his costume, the fire shield toggle just occludes his costume in an unpleasant manner.
  4. That's a great tidbit about Preventive Medicine: Chance for +Absorb! Added a note about that!
  5. Stacking ranged defense works great... until you find yourself in a cramped office map, get hit with a -fly effect, or face foes who can fly as well. That's why I prefer going for Smashing/Lethal/Energy defense. They are the three most common types of damage in the game and S/L are often attached to other damage types, giving far more comprehensive coverage than ranged defense does imo. S/L/E defense is also MUCH easier to build for, especially if you take Scorpion Shield from the Mace Mastery Patron Pool. You're also not boned like in the above scenarios where staying at range is less of an option. Going S/L/E also ends up providing a decent amount of positional defense as well. Here's an example of such a build (I also factored in the upcoming snipe changes so I didn't take Leadership): Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! build has softcapped s/le without the alpha slot. With the Agility alpha, it also has 37% n/f/c defense and 28% melee/30% ranged/27% aoe defense. The build also regenerates 44hp/sec, has fair amount of global recharge even without Hasten, and a nice panic button in Phase Shift (since we couldn't take Personal Force Field). I went with Agility for some extra defense in case I get hit with -defense debuffs and to shore up the non-s/l/e defenses a tad but the alpha choice is really open. Since more defense would be overkill on the three biggies (s/l/e) I opted for Assault Radial for some double hit damage and the passive damage boost it provides at all times, but like the alpha slot, the hybrid slot choice is open. Taking the Support hybrid would shore up your non-s/l/e defenses further and could be good choice to make up for any deficiencies against the rare foe that doesn't have any s/l/e damage in their arsenal. A tier 3 or 4 clarion core gives comprehensive mez protection, but for leveling/exemping you've still got your ATO2 proc in a tier1 or 2 attack that stacks mez protection and a -KB IO. As an alternative you could go with Ageless for defense debuff protection, or Barrier to buff yourself and your Lore pets. My opinion is obviously subjective, but I feel much safer building for s/l/e than I do for ranged, and I have no fear when I want to use my pbaoe nuke or some mob flies into my face or grounds me with a web grenade. I can pop them in the face with my Negatron Slam, knock them on their butt, and maybe trigger the hold proc I have in there, secure in the knowledge that they will almost certainly have just as hard a time hitting me in melee as they do at range.
  6. I've grudgingly come to appreciate at least one aspect of windows 10... the fact that I don't have to hunt down discs or drivers for every little thing. For the most part windows 10 figures all that crap out for me... but its the ugliest thing this side of a dirty toilet imo. I had to get WindowBlinds and Start10 to make windows 10 something I don't hate to look at or use.
  7. I'm glad some folks can find some use for it. I know how complicated the IO system can seem. These single enhancements don't need any sort of set bonus configurations. Just pop em in and bam you're better than you were! No balancing act required!
  8. A quick addendum since there is a character limit to posts (which I apparently hit in my original post):
  9. Hi everyone! I know many of us love to delve into the intricacies of IO builds and try to eek out every iota of power we can. But there are also many who play that either have no desire to get involved with such things or feel overwhelmed by the possibilities and choices and so ignore this aspect of the game. This guide is more for the latter group of people but it never hurts to give it a once over even if you're an IO vet! You never know it might inspire a new idea or ignite an appreciation for something once dismissed as useless. This guide covers mostly unique, proc, or global benefiting type IO's. Some mention of set bonuses will probably appear but the main focus of this guide will be about which IO's can give you the most bang for your buck just by slotting them and without needing to worry about sets or synergy with other sets/powers. If you're looking to get some quick boosts to your character performance with minimal fuss or worrying about juggling set bonuses, this is the guide for you! Yay for instant gratification!
  10. Both types of pet sets can be slotted into any pet so all MM primaries can slot every unique pet IO if desired. Some sets/combos have an extra opportunity or two to do so of course, but even those that don't can slot them all. If you're truly desperate for an extra place to slot pet IO's for a certain primary, Tornado from Storm Summoning secondary takes pet IO sets and can mule some uniques for you.
  11. If anything there is even MORE magic than before! Base building has evolved into something more epic than it ever was on live, we have new powersets, new AT's, and I hear we even have the ability to add new animations now so some really unique stuff could be forthcoming!
  12. In general, I tend to come up with a concept first, then see what AT/powerset combo comes the closest to making that concept a reality, and then I try to optimize as best I can within the limitations of the concept. As for Masterminds specifically, I always take some, if not all, of the attacks, or at least some attacks from an ancillary pool. I don't like only being able to act as a passive nursemaid to my pets. I play an MM the same way I play a defender on a team. I make sure my team is buffed and cared for first and foremost, but when I know they are going to be fine I start blasting! I do take all my pets because that's one of the things I enjoy about playing an MM, having that minion army. I try to get all the unique MM enhancements slotted so my pets are sturdy but I also try to focus on my own personal survivability as well. Without me, the pets go bye bye. As long as I am alive, I can make more. :P
  13. TO/DO/SO prices are the same now as they were at sunset and we have far easier ways to make inf now. You can make a ton of inf even at low levels and have plenty before you can even slot DO's. A single piece of rare salvage will get you 400k-800k alone and that's only ONE way to make inf.
  14. I hope the build works well for what you want to do. If nothing else it can serve as inspiration for you or someone else!
  15. Only the generic recipes can be memorized (the ones you can buy from the table), and they are memorized in batches by making the right types and earning memorization badges. For example, Accuracy and To-Hit Buff enhancements fall under the same memorization badge. So to earn the level 45-50 badge (so you can memorize the lvl 45-50 versions of the accuracy and to-hit buff enhancements) you need to make fourteen level 45 enhancements that are any combination of accuracy and to-hit buff (like say you make ten lvl45 accuracy and four lvl45 to-hit buff) AND fourteen level 50 enhancements that are any combination of accuracy and to-hit buff (like say you make ten lvl50 accuracy and four lvl50 to-hit buff). For more information see the wiki: https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Memorization_Badges
  16. You can make a demorecord of your base and save that file. That doesn't guarantee another server will allow you to give them a copy of the demorecord and import your base.
  17. Thanks, did just that. Much easier to appreciate your screenies that way ty! ^_^
  18. Hasten cannot stack with itself... neither can Accelerate Metabolism (from the same source i.e. yourself) With that said, while I am a firm believe that there is no such thing as "too much" recharge on an ill/rad, having about 100% or more global recharge plus the 70% from Hasten and the 30% from Accelerate Metabolism is all you need to perma Hasten/Accel/Phantom Army. I will say you could recoup a slot from Hasten by just +5ing two of the generic lvl 50 recharge IO's which will ED cap you. I agree with Yamato that the slotting in Superior Invisibility really is wasteful for what you're getting for the investment. You'd be far better served putting those slots in Weave for more defense. You could also change your slotting in Tough to a Steadfast resistance/+3% defense, Gladiator's Armor: TP Protection/+3% defense and 3 pieces of the Unbreakable Guard set. You could just about soft cap your s/l defenses that way. Your slotting in Blind is... very poor. Blind's sleep is an afterthought, not its primary purpose. You won't be doing much damage or holding things for as long as you could be with it slotted that way. You could replace manuevers with combat jumping for a similar level of defense at a MUCH cheaper end cost. Mutation is a dead power with dead slotting. The chance for +end will never fire if slotted there except when you res someone... how often do you think that will occur? Use some recouped slots to slot out your Stamina properly and put the chance for +end there. Here's how I might adjust your build to be a bit more efficient while maintaining perma-PA. You'll also have an easier time with endurance this way I think, while being nigh untouchable due to your defenses. 19. That could be a nuisance if groups decide to send out blind sg invites any any and every name they try. We have /altinvite charactername for our offline alts. I'm sure its not too much to ask that non-alts are invited while they are online.
  20. @JustTav you can use to make the images small and clickable to enlarge. It makes it much easier to see and it doesn't take up massive amounts of screen space.
  21. That picture on the wall. Where is it? I can't find it in the editor. I like it a lot. Ah I should have noted that my screenshots were taken using my client mod. That painting does not look like that by default. You can check out my client mod here which includes that painting change: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,4265.0.html Just to note, that painting is of Castle Brightmoon from the old She-Ra cartoon from the 80's :)
  22. So this base of mine is still a work in progress but its at a stage where I don't mind sharing some pics. Once its really done I'll post the base passcode so anyone can visit and have a look around! So here's your sneak peak at the Starlight Corporation's M.O.R.A. - Mobile Observatory & Research Array. The concept behind this was a mobile facility that could research various stellar phenomena. In this case the M.O.R.A is currently exploring the depths of a nebula. (Click an image to enlarge it) Here are some exterior shots: Here's some interior shots: Now that the structure is complete, I'm in the "detailing" stage where I start putting all the fine touches on each area. I expect it to be ready for public visits by the end of the week.
  23. Whatever folder your client is installed to and where the homecoming.exe is located should be where you would need to place my mod. If the above location you provided is the correct location, then you would simply have to copy my files into the data folder there. If there is no data folder then you can create one and place my files there. If you've ever saved costumes you'll know you're in the right place if you see a costumes folder with all your saved costumes inside. Oh the same folder the costumes folder is in? Okay that helps, yeah. Thanks! EDIT: I'm still not seeing it, music in Pocket D is normal. EDIT 2: Got it! I was leaving them in Data/Jem Mods and it apparently won't go beyond to folders it doesn't recognize haha. Glad you got it working! Have fun with it!
  24. Hybrid powers are not traditional toggles. Back on live they were called "cloggles" because they are more like a click than a toggle. Consider them click buffs that can be deactivated early like a toggle. They are intended to "shut off" after 120 seconds with a 120 second cooldown after that. They are not intended to be viewed as something you turn on and remains on in perpetuity. From The Wiki:
