People waiting for other people to potentially lose a character name are coming across as rather ghoulish.

Can you imagine a game with both Aloy AND Atreus (GoW 2018/Ragnarok)? You'd never have to look anything up at all. OK so what I'm taking from this is....back-seating is in the mind of the player and someone watching should just never speak about the game being played just in case the player is a prickly person. So is it back seating if you remind someone of something the game already explained to them in the tutorial as well as a later pop-up AND the information is available in game? I guess it's obvious that I have encountered a situation where a player somehow forgot some fundamental aspect of a game and when I mention it to them...some people just go ballistic and I honestly don't understand what I did wrong since I was just saying what the game had already said. I don't know and so far I'm not really getting any consensus on this thing. I hope Snarky uses lots of lube. ❤️

Well? Like what? I guess you are itching to make a joke (or just itching, who can say) but I am sincere, I really want to know, both an answer to my query as well as all the nasty (or sweet?) things you really want to say...

(a bit of context right up front. I've been playing games for 50+ years, been playing video games for 40+ years, only started watching streamers in the past -5 years) What is "back seating"? It seems intuitive to me. I think it means if someone is playing a game and someone else starts telling them things like "go turn over the third rock, it will reveal a hidden quest that rewards you the best armor ever created in a video game." or in a story driven game saying something like "don't trust him, he is going to betray you to the evil dragon lord. Go pay off that dwarf instead because he is secretly your benefactor." I don't consider it back seating if a person reminds the player of something the game has already explained. Like "game explained you should rest at the sparkle dot so you can do any leveling up" or "press X to jump" (said after the tutorial). So, what's the consensus? Is it considered back seating to remind a player of something the game has already explained?

I dn't post very much anymore, I lurk a lot and my play is pretty uch just special events but this community and this game still mean everything to me. As a queer person, I've almost always felt at home and welcome here. I remember when our first Pride Event happened and how it was an honest to goodness official event. I also remember the troubles that caused but nevermind, love is love and thanks to this community and this game for being safer places for queers like me.

That haunted house blew my mind!!!! I've toured some amazing SG bases but that haunted house is just several levels beyond! I was genuinely creeped out and more than once had a real fright (followed immediately with laughter, it was so damn skillful). There was one part where I got so boggled and so stressed out I almost panicked and abandoned my character by shutting the game off but I managed it and Im so glad, I mean it would have been terrible to abandon my main in that horrible goopy room of grossness! Anyway, you all did something incredible and should be very proud of yourselves. Thank you for giving some a sick and twisted gift to the community you obviously love to BITS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why don't more people understand this?

Yes , and I'm not the only one. Last night was particularly terrible as there were 2 leagues going and not a single team in those leagues had any present, active lvl 50 leads, meanwhile PI2 was a ghost town. Look, I get it, sometimes you think you're just going to refll your glass of water but the dog needs a quick walk and then spouse wants to talk about something and you finally get back to the tot and you've got the afk bubble, it happens. But this is beyond a little afk, beyond excessive, this is (in some instances) very low level characters being neglected until the last possible moment before auto-log then neglected just as long again, etc until the character hits (I suppose) 50 and then log out. Not one word, not one door knock, just flat out leeching. They know they can depend on lazy team leads (in some instances, I reckon it's a double or triple boxer who is both absent leader and absent leecher, maybe a whole freekin team of them). I don't understand what is fun about that just like I dont understand the one farmer I got to know who's entire CoH playtime was strictly and exclusively leveling up characters in AE. NO missions, ever. No raids, ever. Nothing at all but AE farms. Even with untold billions in collective influence (I guess, do you get inf in AE?), they never even know what AH was for, never went to MSR, never saw any other zones except AP and get to pocket D. The one and only time I convinced them to try out an Incarnate Trial with me, they put themselves on [follow] with auto-targetting and went afk getting themselves banned by Veracor from anymore Veracor run IT. Again, dont get it twisted, I enjoy some pretty pointless activities as well but there's only so many times one can farm Albinurics before one decides to get on with it (Elden Ring ftw). Whatever, I'm old, maybe that's my whole damn problem. Back in my day we played games for the joy of playing them. Last night I dreamed I was trapped in some horrible place, not an afk hero in sight.

Last night, I had a ToT dream. Yes, Ive been ToTing so damn much, I DREAMED about it. It was a very short dream, in it was this ziggurat shaped pyramid castle, it was about 5 stories high I think, filled with rooms. Covered in heroes of all shapes and colors. And every single one of those heroes was AFK. Hotel AFk. My dream turned into a nightmare 😞 That really was a dream I had last night. I wish the AFKers would just stop. Do they honestly not realize what a drag they are? How by not participating they are actively reducing the amount of rewards that could be gained? Could they not at least move their useless bodies out of the doorways? Anyway, I guess the AFKers are so used to AE farming they reckon this is just the way of it (a pox on what AE has become). Please, just knock on the damn doors and if you just MUST leech, move away from the freeking DOORS.

Hey good morning! So last night, I had finished up my ToTing for the day and was in the character selection deciding on who I would be leveling next when my game suddenly closed. I had been playing all day long and was pretty bleary so I figured I must have decided to close the program without thinking about it or something. Anyway, just now I decided it was time to get back on that grind but... All 55 notifications are the same. The only thing I have running on this desktop is tequila and CoH, until I logged in here I was not running a browser. I need a little help please.

Whatever you do, never, ever, EVER play this little game I heard about once called "Elden Ring" because apparently, you do nothing but fight ankles and feet.

Ah man, people get twisted over any little thing. I saw the up-coming name thing (you know the one, characters lvl 1-some number have to be logged into at least once a month or lose the name) and there is at least one player absolutely LIVID over the idea that other players might choose to name a character and then not level it up. I mean this person is just RAGING that anyone would do that. Damn dude, I have 6 full pages of characters that have been siting in THE TUTORIAL for YEARS now, most of whom are specifically there because I thought up some cool name. Some for an amazing costume and at least 5 because of the combo of awesome name + costume. Even without the up-coming name thing, I still log in to all those characters regularly and not level them or progress them but guess what? I'm still playing with them, I'm still enjoying them and I'm playing the game as I wish, in a way that brings ME joy. I feel sad someone else might be just vomitting with RAGE over this but damn, why care how I play? Also, how could anyone possibly know if any of my names are worthy? I'm not above naming a character Stink Bug or Ugly Kid Joe and doing so amuses me so Im having fun with the game so Im helping keep it alive...but all the while, I know somewhere out there, sombody is PISSED OFF when they think about people like me, habitual character CREATORS who don't particularly NEED to level them up. Sheesh, who cares how you're having fun as long as you're having fun. (If anyone is now terribly worried that I'm "camping" on your favorite character name, just send me a tell, I'll probably delete the character so that YOU can have fun, I'm really not very fussed)

I re-created a character from Death Stranding in CoH and I re-created one of my CoH characters in Elden Ring. This type of thing can be very fun, amusing, interesting. Blatant rip-offs though, those are just lazy. (Side note, the Death Stranding character turned out PERFECT, my Elden Ring character not so much)

I saved my windows, it still happens (only my inspiration tray) but only on SOME maps, seems like maybe older maps only?

I would be very surprised if that video card was not still on back order. I thought my system was overkill but yours is just going to smoke everything down. Once you get it (I hope in time)

Just keep in mind, folks that may be streaming the game * will NOT be asking everyone who might be in the camera frame for "permission" to film them but that does NOT mean they are invading anyone's privacy as you might be controlling a character in the background but YOU are NOT in the background. It is not at all the same as someone walking down the street recording random strangers. Anyway, people streaming or recording is not going to impact anyone who is not interested in the streaming stuff (except that it *might* bring a few people back to CoH). This is a very good, healthy change for Homecoming. *= even old people like me stream games and stuff these days, just check out Shirley Curry if you want to see a REAL old timer playing! Streaming and making videos of hobbies is not just for youngsters. In fact, as a (new) streamer, my whole pitch is built around bringing older gamers BACK into the fun! Im 54 and a LOT of my friends find themselves "empty nesters" and bored with gardening and not ready for bird watching but totally intimidated by "modern gaming" and who can blame them? My "mission" is to reach out to folks around my age and older and show them gaming is still here for us, gaming is for everybody, you dont have to spend thousands of dollars to play, you dont have to play hyper violent games, etc. Don't reject streamers out of hand just because you *think* only young people do it. Streamers come in all ages, races, genders, political persuasions, etc.

Well, I *think* Hami would be sitting there all alone with nothing to do all the live long day if it spawned redside.
