  1. I would second the wisdom of chasing 45% s/l defense and from there just building as strong a melee as you can afford. You can never cover everything in the City, and a strong Willpower Build does not need to try. 45% s/l def will make you nigh invulnerable to 85% ? 0f the attacks in the city. anyways, a lot of them. Then you deal with the rest using...Willpower.
  2. For me I concentrate on ranged def. the only plavce this fails me is AoE, which I try to avoid lol. But 8 ft is ranged. heck 3 ft is ranged if they use a ranged attack. So softcap Ranged covers a lot of ground I don't have to shovel other stuff into. Then...I stay ranged. I hop into PBAoE when I calculate it best, then pop back out to cone range. So, did I mention range?
  3. I would suggest soloing, unless you really enjoy organizing PUGs (who generally are grumpy when dragged through someone elses story arcs...PUGs are grumpy beasts) When you solo you can explore the storylines yourself. Better than any "resource" is doing. There are a bazillion strategies for this. You can do "COMPLETIONIST!" Must do every story, every side mission, from every contact until they say go away I have nothing, shutting off experience to do so. Or...taking your alts and calmly leveling them through different arcs as you gain levels. Relaxing, new, and you earn merits and learn the lore. Or...do a lot (not all) of the story arcs in the game through Ouroboros. Again, earning Merits, experience, and the lore. But in a less constrained fashion. Or....a Bazillion -3 other ways.
  4. two main points in my first glace at your build. Your defense is all over the place. The only thing that hits softcap is energy. Are you going positional, or type, or...blech lol second, Blasters get 3 powers that fore off when mezzed. you took two of them. Blasters have TONs of power choices. (compared to melee who have to devote so much to armors) I think the pick is unwise unless you never plan to exemp, then, maybe...
  5. elec secondary is very much a point blank and melee set. you might want to look at ice/ice instead if you leave off the melee from ice secondary that leaves you with some good ranged tools. the ice aura is great mitigation and a pbaoe sleep can be situationally incredibly good
  6. Looks at OPs name for first time. This was sort of a forego e conclusion wasnt it lol okay. On the bright side cold/cold is very survivable. Forget the melee powers. The PBAoE aura in ice manipulation is very good. Remember ranged is 8ft. So if you build for ranged defense even if the seem right on too of tou the game has them at 40 ft. Sometimes being near but not in melee is your most survivable spot. And given ice abolity to really slow down enemies it can take them forever to move 1 ft
  7. Ranged tier 9s are a thing i chased. Sadly not happy with them. I dont love weapons. So that rules out rifles bows guns. If you like them they are decent. Ice...not a true tier 9 as we are used to. I would run it...except a lot if ice is location AoE. Loc AoE is nearly impossible to land accurately in a busy fight. So if you want to run older content at original settings content then the set is good . If you want to run in hard running teams the native controls for landing these attacks are useless. So you need to learn and keybind a ton of various location casts depending on where you want it to go based on your location. Hope you have a huge keyboard lol Elec is not true ranged although the tier 9 is. Also the secondary drain is nearly useless in hard running teams
  8. I just 50'd a Dark/Dark/Soul on Sunday. If you like cones I have good news! The build I am running is evil, and surviovable. There are 3 modes of play. 1) Stand off ST burn down of AV, GM, hard target. 2) Stand off AoE cone Madness for maximimum Debuff and team support. 3) Moment of madness. wait until a group has a tank wade in (or don't, but it is squish death sometimes) then jump into the group. Hit Soul Drain, Aim, Blackstar, Judgement. Maybe Darek Consumption if you need End. Jump back away. 9. pretty sure you are looking at one thing and talking about another you would take the documentation and send it to a GM after getting in contact with one and if the documentation was video, in that case with direct send it is private almost 100% positive they are stating do not post CoH stuff for friends or general public to have access to. maybe you could send it to one, just one, person and violate the letter but not the spirit of the rule because basically there are saying do not put this stuff out into the www
  10. Souvenirs indeed. the character I said did all content to 30+ has 98 of them currently. badge for 100. But I moved on. Altitis, you are a cruel mistress. I think a more Meta version is just badging. I have only recently became interested in Badgers. It is VERY time consuming. The rewards are plentiful, bragging rights are visible, and it speaks to the inner scout in all us geeks. (get the badge get the badge, go on GET IT )
  11. I love this commitment to completionism. But the City does not work that way. In some ways it is indeed a real world, messy and strange. I recently attempted this redside and got all content through 30, and some 30-35. THen I 50'd the character. I have done it on Redside a few times back on live. It has gotten more complicated since then and there is added content. I never succeeded on Blueside. It is a freaking spaghetti ball of Nemesis plots over there. Now I content myself with getting to know the stories and contacts in a game. The enemy groups and their tactics. The rooms and their quirks. Maybe I do not have a toon that has every contact as a good relationship (which is impossible anyway. Redside you automatically burn a half dozen contacts and they hate you by the end of their arc, and Blueside uyou kill/lock up at least one) But I do know that on any alt I can have a reasonable idea of who someone is and what they are offering. I buy into the Ouro storylines. I am not a mender, more like a meddler in the time stream. Then someone comes through afterward and it is like I never saved the dam, killed the entire ship of Longbow, or retrieved the loa bone. odd place the city.
  12. Many of the old blueside stories had multiple contacts for the same arc. so even though you never talked to them you did the story, It has only gotten more confusing since then. One good resource is...Ouroboros. Take a high level character and double check each level range to ensure you have all the major arcs. This is NOT all the story arcs in the game, but it helps.
  13. There is a whole guides section! Just navigate to the Home menu on the boards I would recommend hitting the P2W vendor immediately. You can get neat free/cheap buffs, enhancements, and experience boosters. including a flight power 30 min for 5000 inf. Which seems like a lot your 1st 3 hours in the game....and then.... Speaking of cash if you use the double exp booster you will get zero inf drops. That is fine, earning inf killing stuff pre 50 is....not efficient. Merits! huge Inf maker. can get merits doing story arcs and Task Forces. Positron 1 and Positron 2 will net you a few. There are complex (and lucrative) inf making guides (in the guides section) For a beginner I recommend taking yourself (and your merits) to the Auction House in Atlas Park. To the right of the auctioneers is an ATM looking thing. use that to convert merits to salvage, Enhancement Converters, and sell those on the AH. you will make a lot that way, and it is easy. Always let peeps know you are new. Homecoming is a welcoming community and some of us might seem Snarky, okay, some of us are Snarky, but we are glad you are here! Anything we can do to help we will.
  14. Love the name! I can only up the ante here. A Fire/Psi Dominator, male of course. Because that name is flaming. Perma-dom, and Perma on!
  15. I played SS forever on live and have a 50 with it here. The set is extremely powerful. If the crash bothers you .... pick anything else my go-to set these days is Dark Melee. sime people dont like it because not enough AoE. every set has good and bad. Here is the thing. In the modern PvE i/o incarnate game you have to really try to make a horrid toon. I am currently light Bruting on a Blaster. I know my characters armors and the game well enough to not stand in the patg of the truck and i stay alive long enough to kill everything. The sets are not my first choice on paper. Dark/Dark. They do not have exactly what i want. But they have stuff i like and fit my theme perfect find something you like. Run that
  16. Incarnate Teams: (1,2,3,...) Invul Tank Kin Corruptor Defender (any) Controller 2 Brutes 2 Blasters I honestly think there are MANY great options, but if you had to pick one team this would be hard core. I am sure someone has crunched the numbers. would hope to get some type of debuffer in. I think the Tank is self explanatory, The Brutes could be more "farm-type" builds, slightly squishier with damage auras. The Kin is something I would see as very nice, most incarnates do not need speed boost, cant hurt though. But Fulcrum Shift. UG with a side of Lee. That clears hard pockets in less time than it took to type this sentence.
  17. Considering a Glad is way less hard to come by and I crate LOTGs out of trash recipes that is not so shocking. I really got interested in the thread because of the crazy shift in uncommon salvage prices. Which may have to do with drop rate change in recent patch? Just saw that. Not sure if anyone has posted that before. Again, It is not that we have it "bad" because we do indeed have it very nice. But I, and perhaps others, would like to know why there is a huge change in something. First they come for your yellow salvage...
  18. Thanks to this thread i learned something. I bought all the toilet paper in local stores and am now reselling it at a huge markup down the street. Thanks Homecoming
  19. Okay at least that gives a possible explanation because a 10 fold increase in a few weeks is not normal market forces some of my crafted procs and globals have decreased over the last two-three months from 4-5 mil to 2-4 mil. That is normal. Freaking unfortunate but normal. Going to need to revise my list of what is craftable for profit. Other pieces keep climbing so my net profit on large batch crafting/converting remains somewhat same also because it was asked. The 250 mil for 50 is a rough guess. It more or less includes crafting costs (low) and salvage prices (low). It does not figure in the converters i use since those are all “free” to me from merits and i dont take the time to calculate how many i use or Possible lost revenue from selling it. I would guess it takes a few hundred converters to roll 50 generic garbage i/o into procs and globals. Maybe 400? Complete guess. More than 200 less than 500. Never documented. I just get near 500 and start burning the pile
  20. Still annoying. It was literally just a few weeks ago 5k was a hihh bid for yellow salvage. Now 50k takes time to fill
  21. Needed 50 yellow salvage for early morning crafting. 50k a pop still filled slowly while i crafted congratulations flippers. Enjoy the tons ...epic mountainloads... of stacks of infamy. Huge. Stare at it in awe. The joy the sweet sweet smell of success seriously, this is how you make money? Really? because i was crafting 50 recipes to convert and make about 250 mil approx off of. An hour so and kind of a pain is all this flipping just bot addons so a player spends no time investment, gets inf, and has the added joy of being annoying?
  22. I am currently rolling on a Dark/Dark. If you like cones it is very nice. Planning on Soul Epic. I zip into a mob when it is safe to grab huge buffs. If I hit enough enemies on Soul Drain I can jump out to 20 feet, turn around and cone kill everyone. Done. It is definitely a planned maneuver, works well in low 30s. Will be adding Blackstar soon. So, aim, Soul Drain, Blackstar. Not sure on most mobs that I will need to hop anywhere. Suspecting they will have departed. After Nuking the area (and later using Judgement if the Nuke alone wasn't enough) I can start being ranged again without moving, and still having soul drain power for a while. That is the plan on paper anyways
  23. I see this. And So I keep posting. It has been repeated so much, people take it as fact. It is not an instant death sentence. I have had it up and running, crashed, and lived to tell about it many times. Been many years but I am pretty sure it was Reichsman with endless spawns, set at normal difficulty. My Brute just kept going, cycling through T9 Unstoppable, and all the Dark Powers keeping him up. Literally endless waves of minions. Yes, the power crashed. Yes, my bars hit the floor. Or, a MM above the floor. Not like it was a shock. A purple before, then a blue a green and Dull Pain. then 3 more madness minutes if, huge if, because my dark/invuln Brute is seriously bad bad bad, I did a full on build centered around Unstoppable I would modify the I/Os to assume the power was on. That changes the slotting to hit caps. Hopefully making space for more damage, or modifying defenses to be more efficient I might look at it this weekend. Been working 50 hour weeks, so....burnt toast here. I will definitely poke around on it, taking Hyperstrikes Invul Brute template, slapping Dark on it, kicking Unstoppable on, building it Perma, then seeing the room I have left for goodies. 24. But i have run a high end build that used it, granted i have not tried it in in arnate trials. But in trgular high end SFs i have run a Brute that stayed up while team hosp and came back. I was still fighting an endless spawn surrounding an AV. I could not o ercome his regen but i was having a ball destroying the adds. The Dark/Invul kept me up, cyclying tier 9, dull pain, siphon life, and recovery PBAoe
  25. I was introduced to a Dark/Invul super high recharge Brute on live. There was a builder who wrote eloquently about the tactics. i copied his build and was amazed. It did indeed do what he promised. Layering tier 9 did not stop the crash but it did not matter sice even small blue and green kicked you back into running territory. Think getting hit by Nova Fist once every 3 minutes my current Dark/Invul is a monster without Unstoppable. But the idea is calling me again lol
