I am LOVING so many of the bases here, gorgeous work and creativity! KingofMonkey's Castle has me drooling, and Flashtoo, the Kirby Academy is just breathtaking. So inspiring, you all!

And, on the wildwood side of the garden... An oak grove, exterior and interior, built for a Dryad member of the SG. 🙂

Thanks for checking, everyone. As it turned out, this is screen-setting problem caused by having to switch back and forth between running Homecoming on my usual computer at home, and on my Mom's old computer in KY. Tahquitz suggested: Open Tequila options, and in the "Launch Parameters", type -screen 800 600 to force graphics to the lowest resolution. Start the client, then before logging in click "Options" and change the graphics to "Windowed" instead. If this works, before you run Tequila again, CLEAR the Launch Parameters box or it'll keep setting it to 800x600. which worked like a charm. All good now! 🙂

I'm having an odd problem with COH all of a sudden. I can log in and the screen looks fine. But when I go into Base-Edit mode and try to move the sliding bar under the various tabs, so I can see all the items for that tab... when I try to click on the bar at the bottom of my screen, my Desktop task bar suddenly appears over it, covering the tab slider so I can't get to it. When I click elsewhere on the screen, then try clicking on the base-edit tab slider-bar, the same thing happens. It happens, in fact, when I click Options to try and exit the base editor... so that even when I try to click "Exit base edit mode, I get the Desktop Taskbar, instead of the in-game exit command. I've had to CNTL+ALT+Delete several times now to exit not only base editor, which kicks me out of COH completely. This doesn't seem to happen in Paragon Chat, where my screen is set in graphics to "Windowed" mode. But I don't see any option for a "windowed" mode in Homecoming. Help?

I talked to another SG leader in-game, and they walked me through the step I was missing, so all is well with the channel now. :-)

Apologies if this isn't the right place to post this, but here's the problem. I have a SG, the Dauntless Reverie. I tried setting up a global-channel (i.e. where members can join by global rather than alt name), using: /chan_create Dauntless OOC Which worked fine. I set up a tab with the channel name, picked from the Edit Tab list of channel selections, so far so good. But -- none of the other channel command options work for me. Every time I try one, I get the message: You are not allowed to perform this action I can't set the channel description: /chan_desc Dauntless OOC I can't set to invite all the SG members by their globals: /chan_invite_sg 0 where o equals: Invite the entire supergroup (members, captains, and leaders). I can't invite SG members one by one (by alt name): /chan_invite Lyte I get a message: Unknown command: chan_invite Help! What am I doing wrong?

The MacGyver Manual, or "You used X to make Y?!?"
McCavity replied to Raevyn_Darke's topic in Base Construction
Flashtoo, I love the idea for the stove burners. What did you use for the Oven Door? And does anyone know how to cobble together a fascimile of a coffee pot? -
If you have two alts, and each has their own base / SG, is there a way to coalition the 2 SG/Bases?

SG Name: The DAUNTLESS REVERIE RP/RP Friendly: Moderate-to-heavy RP Theme/Era: "Heroes Touched by Magic" Mystic Heroes thrust into an Urban Setting The DAUNTLESS REVERIE is a fellowship of Heroes whose lives have been touched in some way by magic, who seek in their own ways to help others. They have been multitudes: creatures of legend, descendants of the divine, beings blessed and cursed, visitors from fantastic worlds, tormented hellspawn, students of the arcane. But they have all been Dauntless: Mystic Heroes thrust into an Urban Setting. When the game was live, the DAUNTLESS REVERIE existed from Beta till shutdown. It has always been a Moderate-to-Heavy RP group, and at times had quite a large membership, and a very large base. Now, with the return of COH and the advent of the Homecoming Servers, the DAUNTLESS REVERIE is once again seeking members, Mystic Heroes who have been “touched by Magic”. The base is in the process of being restored, and at present has a full set of teleportals, a worshop for crafting & Storage, and a medical facility, and should be completely furnished over the next week or two. If you have characters you feel might be a good fit for this theme, and you're interested in RP as well as general missions, I’d enjoy talking / RPing with you. For questions or further info, or just a good spot of RP, you can always drop a tell to my global, @Nyghtshade or Message me here.

For the street scenes, I'd love to know how folks made the pavement for streets and sidewalks. Any tips?

Is there any news about any possibility using demorecords of old SG / VG bases from when was live to restore those bases here on the Homecoming shards? I know it was possible to do so in Paragon Chat. Might Codewalker have any advice on how to do so here?

You can also place an item on the floor next to the table/counter etc, then click on it, hit shift, and raise it to the height of the table/counter etc. Then click on it, hit CNTL, and carefully slide it around at table/counter height, then click on the item to release it in the right place.

The Future - An Open Letter from the Homecoming Team
McCavity replied to Jimmy's topic in Announcements
I just wanted to add my thanks to all of the Homecoming coding team for the simply remarkable work you've all done not only to bring the game back to us, but to keep it stable when deluged with literally thousands of people playing each night. I appreciate keeping us up to date on the server status and upcoming plans, and for keeping the process for running this so transparent. I was 54 when I started playing COH in 2005. I'm 67 now, and honestly didn't think I'd live long enough to ever see the game again, much less be ecstatically playing it again with so many of the fantastic COH community. You've made our dreams come true, and all of you have my undying gratitude! -
Having continued to RP in Paragon Chat for several years, here's my take on what 'happened'. In 2012 (or game-time equivalent), warnings began to be issued that weakening of the dimensional barriers from all the portals was now being predicted to potentially cause catastrophic dimensional rifts to tear open all across the world, literally pulling it apart. As the warnings continued to escalate, many - civilians and Supers alike - fled to other dimensions and/or worlds via the portals. Some few, however, chose to remain and face whatever happened. My main Heroes did just that, choosing to stay in Paragon and wait it out. My Villains had varied reactions. Some fled, others went to ground, and some chose to 'ride it out' in Pocket D, drinks in hand, with faith that if anyplace could survive the apocalypse, DJ Zero's Pocket D could. And in the end.... it seemed the threat was greatly exxagerated and nothing happened, save that the world has been greatly depopulated. Now, as people begin finding their way home, it remains to be seen if life will 'go on as usual', or if change will bring new beginnings - and new adventures.

Also, any chance we can "sticky" a list of Basecode Pass numbers at the top of the forum?

OFLYNNS-3072 (Everlasting) A cozy Irish Pub, open to RP'ers any time. O'Flynn's serves good food, good drink, and good old Irish Craic ! Drop by for a pint, either at the bar, at the table, or in the comfy "Reading Room" next to the entry foyer. Seamus O'Flynn, Celtic Honor's uncle, runs the establishment, and is quick with a joke and always wiling to put up a Real game of Irish Football on the telly over the bar. 🙂

I too used SG & VG Base demorecords from the old COH to import those bases, intact, into Paragon Chat. I would really love to be able to do so here. Is the problem with that the difference between the Homecoming Servers and the Paragon Chat client?
-
In Paragon Chat, we are able to 'restore' a base from the old COH, IF we ever demorecorded the base, by using the demorecord file when we set up the SG with the Registrar in City Hall. Will this ever be possible here? I am reluctant to start over from scratch with a base if the old one can be restored intact.

Homecoming Server Update (May 1st): Perfectly Balanced
McCavity replied to Jimmy's topic in Announcements
I want to thank the Homecoming team for all the hard work and hours you all have put into making it possible for our COH Community to Come Home! Bless you for your tireless efforts to not only make this functional, but to keep adjusting, balancing and adding extra servers to accomodate the really extraordinary volume of returning players! It's been said before, and I echo the sentiment - you all are Heroes ! -
There are no words for how much I, like the rest of the COH community, owe in gratitude to those who're working so hard in bringing back our City. But I can say this. This evening I watched "Ready Player One" again --and it was the first time since it was released that I was able to watch the big final battle where all the players were fighting to save their game, and then the happy ending where they won -- without crying. Because, every time I saw it, every time, I was reminded of how hard we fought to save our game... and failed. Tonight, I could enjoy the movie for the celebration it is... because of all of those who've saved our game. Because of all those who've brought us home again. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

2019-40-26, 11'ish EDT, Excelsior Server Just wanted to report a mission bug on the Excelsior server, for Azuria's "Find the Missing Painting" mission (Atlas Park, lvl 6) We ran and completed the mission, but when we tried to hit "Exit", we just got a message, "CannotFindMap 1" . so we went all the way back to the doors, and got the same message. My teammates had to quit out of the server to get out. I'm going to do the same, but thought you all should know.
