  1. Damn, why didn't I think of that?
  2. I do not condone this message. Nor do I refute it.
  3. Magic and drugs are fine... they enhance the Warriors' natural strengths. Technology is a crutch they can't abide.
  4. I have seen it done where someone created multiple versions of the same character and treated them as different armor suits worn by the same person, but this was back before the old server shutdown and we didn't have the unlimited rename tokens then that we have now, so I think he just designated the different versions with a number at the end of the name.
  5. I don't think it should be about the ranged vs melee issue. It's that Warriors focus on using archaic weapons; a Quantum Mace would still be a high tech weapon. The answer to this should be to replace Quantum Gunner Warriors with Void Stalkers like in a handful of other factions that don't have the Quantum Gunners.
  6. I mean... no one would force you to use the invisible shield option, so you need the visual cue of a held shield to let you know the toggle is on then you can just choose one of the many very visible shields.
  7. Just read someone's request for invisible weapons and they mentioned an invisible shield, letting the player use asymmetrical shoulder and glove options to bulk up their shield arm if they choose. And while there is merit to that idea, I think we're long overdue for some new shield customization options. So here's a few ideas of my own, and feel free to add your own. Top half of an Arbiter Drone, like you've hollowed it out and wear it on your arm for defense now The gauntlet of a PPD Hardsuit A hub cap The legacy Battle Axe (minus the handle) That round mission door on top of submarines Bathroom door (men's and women's options)... yes, they're big but so are riot shields. A seemingly insubstantial aura of fiery/steamy area (if it's good enough for the Fire and Ice Sword - Elemental to cut things, it should be good enough to block stuff) Trash can lid The "star" on top of the tree on the frozen lake of the Winter Forest map, which really appears to be just Phoenix wings shrunk down to a small size... but that could look cool on the arm.
  8. Really? Is this why my Assault Rifle/Ninja Training/Arsenal Mastery blaster is shooting an invisible gun sometimes? Because he has a rifle, a katana, and then another rifle? Because I'd really rather they fix the problem than work on invisible weapon options.
  9. I try my best to explain it to people, but it does get tedious.
  10. I think we're done with the old crybaby days. Let's toss out the clip show nonsense and throw some Longbow into the mix. But seriously, the reason that voids caused the kheldian players to whine was because of how much they hurt. I'm not suggesting more powerful Longbow to come after the VEATs, but just to have a presence with standard Longbow troops thrown into the mix. Of course, it might be weird if a team has a PB and a widow and while fighting Council you see Void Hunters and Longbow backing them up.
  11. How come hero EATs have a specific threat that affects mission content with void hunters or quantum gunner versions of whatever other mobs are in your mission, but VEATs don't incur any additional threat to missions? Why are there no anti-Arachnos minions gunning for player soldiers and widows? On villain side, I'd love to see occasional Longbow troops added to the mission spawns even if you're fighting other villains... like if you're fighting Mooks and suddenly a Longbow agent is firing on the team why is he there? Because they're working with a lesser enemy to concentrate on a mutual greater threat of Arachnos... even if the player doesn't identify as Arachnos, you've got Arachnos training and so the good guys are doing vigilante work and coming after you. On hero side of things, you could have the Longbow agents working with villain groups acting as rogue agents who don't believe your "heroic" soldier or widow has gone legit and so have insinuated into whatever mission you're on to test your intentions and mettle.
  12. I thought this would be a discussion about a new Controller/Dominator powerset where you control people's alignment. Moral Quandary: single target ranged Psi DMG + Hold ("Target stops to evaluate its life choices.") Change Alignment: single target ranged Psi DMG + Confuse ("You've changed the outlook of the target... briefly.") Mass Conversion: PAoE Confuse ("Your words move the enemies and cause them to act opposite of their previous alignment.") Powerful Words: Toggle PBAoE Knockdown ("Enemies close enough to hear your rhetoric are so amazed that it can knock them off their feet.") etc, etc, etc. Someone get on this..
  13. Well, that is just amazing. If only we had giant skull glove options... and maybe big boots with skull kneepads. But still... amazing.
  14. Ehh... I could do without a Terminator ripoff. We have lots of robot content in the game; we don't need to make it about the plot of a movie franchise that has been done to death all kinds of twists and turns. Honestly, you could have gotten me more on board with a Maximum Overdrive reference, but even that would have been on shaky ground in my view. I'd rather see an uprising of stuff we don't normally see in pop culture references. The pigeon attacks during the Mapserver event made me think more could be done with this... lets have lots of bird attacks and make a The Birds movie event. But to make it truly threatening it might require a lot more birds on screen to make a swarm feel more threatening than other invasion events with normal-sized foes.
  15. I'm not walking through anything, I'm just suggesting caution with regard to even mentioning political stuff. It's a door that should not be opened. And yes, you were vague, but you are making an inference with "formerpresident levels of stupid" preceeding talk about lawsuits. Don't open doors to see if people will walk through. That is just as bad as the people that walk through them.
  16. The only time I take Thunder Clap is when I'm playing a defender or corruptor with Dark Blast and have access to Dark Pit also. Stun some things with Dark Pit, then run in and Thunder Clap them for good measure. The Thunder Clap power comes with a flash of lightning, so I can see where blinding would come into play. I wouldn't expect it to do a full hold like Illusion's Blind and Flash powers do, but I could see it offering a brief -ToHit penalty on affected targets because of this... but if added, this should be a secondary and weaker effect to the Disorient effect.
  17. I think we need another pair of prestige power attacks like the Nemesis Staff/Blackstaff and Sands of Mu/Ghost Slaying Axe more than we need another Endurance management tool in the box.
  18. Careful... you may be happy to report people for trademark violations, but I'm likewise eager to pull the trigger on people who make politics an issue. We should be able to have this discussion without referencing political figures, whether they be a sitting president or a former one currently preparing for criminal trial. We start dragging politics into the discussion, though, and then lines will be drawn and players will start making judgements and arm-chair lawyering over merits of political issues and so on and things will quickly devolve into a smelly cesspool of off-topic conversation.
  19. There is room in the law for parody and homage, even room within this game. The GMs will review those instances and make the decision of what is acceptable and what isn't. Because ultimately, if anything were to be dragged into court it would fall on HC to defend the parody/homage they allow. It's easier to just remove the offending issue by making a character generic and warning the player where they went wrong... but Crumpet himself has stated that they can work with players to determine what is acceptable or not. All of the trademark infringement revolves around whether or not something meets the criteria for legally distinct. In Monty's case, Monty Hall is a celebrity name associated with an old television game show, but Monty Haul is a different spelling that be said to have an additional/different meaning behind it in line with parody of as he points out not just the game show host but a trope in fantasy role playing games. As for his costume, that was never an issue. A person like Monty Hall may have a distinct appearance, but the game does not recreate it specifically and real people clothing appearance generally does not fall under the law of what can be trademarked. This is why Superman's costume cannot be recreated and played as Subparman or Superiorman, but anyone could recreate his glasses wearing alter ego in blue suit. Hell, Marvel Comics has used Clark Kent in both likeness and name on a few occasions and even made allusions to him being the secret identity of Superman by having him suggest that he was going to go contact the authorities when trouble popped up. Clark Kent is generic enough in both name and appearance that he can't really be protected under trademark law. The same would go for a character that looks like Monty Hall... but once you slap the game show host's moniker on him, you would be pressing your luck... which is what happened and apparently has been dealt with in a way that both player and GMs are comfortable with. TL;DR version: yes, there absolutely is a right way to defend a "wrong thing" if the wrong thing is not as wrong as someone might think.
  20. As I understand it, that would require creating a new attachment point onto the character model for these items to be attached. Yes, these things already attach to those areas but under the Head/Detail 2 and Shoulders positions. Think of it as an action figure with a hole in the figure for each costume category that we have. You can only put one item in each hole. Creating a new attachment point isn't as simple as drilling a new hole into an action figure, though. It requires coding to recognize what goes in that new spot, and then retooling everything else that uses costume slots (players and NPCs) to recognize that new location. I'm not sure what the limits of this are, but I know that doing so posed challenges for the original dev team on live as a restriction for why we couldn't get winged characters with trench coats or any other loose flowing cape-like costume piece... because those pieces typically occupied the cape attachment point. But maybe I'm wrong and there's potential for workarounds like when they gave us asymmetrical boots, gloves, and shoulder items. Maybe the could split the Head Detail 1 and Detail 2 slots the same way, and designate specific items in each of the split categories... like all neck items in Detail 2b and everything else from Detail 2 into 2a.... while Detail 1 could be split into face and head, so anything that covers the face and eyes could go into 1a and everything that covers the ears or other areas of the head could be 1b. Or maybe just duplicate the entire lists so if you want both a mustache and a specific beard option to layer over each other, go for it. Safety goggles AND hockey mask? Why not? Anything that creates more options is a plus in my book. I just don't know how feasible it is to do so.
  21. Heebie-Jeebies has the closed eyes face (one of the Supernatural choices), but it gave me open eyes twice and I'm out of credits for today. Still, the armor and crab backpack arms and insects all worked out pretty well, so I'm not going to stress over a little detail like the eyes right now.
