Seems to be all fire farming these days.  It's not bad.. just that S/L defenses are far more useful in the "regular' game.  Why not be the most useful everywhere?  Is it simply because you can AFK with fire farms?  Why the switch?

Specialization. Fire farms were popular on live, too (SS/Fire mainly, abusing Foot Stomp).

/fire makes it simple to reach fire resistance cap, and fire defense can be covered with IOs. Burn + Aura + 2 more AoEs covers the rotation. The armor sets that correspond to equivalent defensive caps don’t tend to have the same offensive options in the armor. You can still build for S/L (I have a second build on my claws/fire brute with solftcapped melee and 90% S/L resistance), but it calls for other sacrifices.

The Splintered Soul Project: (Nyght****) 21 and counting (18 max).

And the SL farms I've tried out also included some KB. Sticking my claws/sr in a fire farm, however, lets me completely ignore my click mez protection thus increasing my damage output.

Makes sense enough. Can you share that second build?

I didn’t think of this part, thanks

All the caveats -- It's not a "farm" build but with Incarnates, it *can* emulate one. (I use a typical "farm fresh" build for that). It was  thought experiment, and now I use it for doing Ouro content and goofing around, working on accolades, etc. I'm positive it could be improved and/or streamlined a bunch. In-game, my s/l resists are capped at 90, but in the builder, they are at 81.5%. I don't know wtf happened. This week has kicked my ass so staring at it is making me see penguins. Dancing penguins. With flower-shooting machine guns.

*ahem* ignore the last part...

I hope it helps!

@pretty_jesushave fun! And incarnates to taste/situation. The build doesn’t rely on any particular alpha/destiny/hybrid.

It takes 0 effort to make /Fire brutes 90% resistant to fire damage and can be done with 3 SOs in their damage toggles and 2 in Temp Protection and without using pool powers.  With some effort that number can be reached while only using 1 resist toggle.  No set can reach 90% S/L resist using just SOs on Brutes.  /Fire also has Burn and FE and a damage aura all of which speed up farming.  Most people have figured out it is more profitable to have 1 optimal fire farmer funding their alts than it is to have a S/L farmer that is made for general content doing the same.
