Join or create an SG?

I was in an SG in the old days but wasn't the "admin" and u remember pretty little about it except it was used for storage and maybe travel between zones.

There doesn't seem to be many SGs on Excelsior and if they are they are not spamming the global channels for recruitment like in the old days.

 

Should I join an SG? If I remember right you gain less inf while in SG mode? Maybe most people are focusing on inf right now?

 

Is there a benefit to have your own private SG base and is it worth the trouble?

Base stuff is free, Prestige serves no purpose these days.

 

Having your own private SG is well worth the effort, because you can now build it with teleporters and storage and stuff right off the bat, and have a super convenient utility base, and you can invite your own characters to it by typing /altinvite (character name). There's no reason not to do it.

Since there is no more Prestige to pay, you lose no influence in sg mode. A base has lots of benefits as it's good for storage and fast travel through the portals. It can be very small and efficient or huge and showy. If you build it yourself you can put things exactly as you want them, because the base-building has been given so much love!

If you don't care about aesthetics, then a base is quick to build.
