It took approximately 3 minutes of:

before image.png.9c06df65c8339a5f50778f852b56da7f.png popped up . . .

However, it's been sitting there with an empty progress bar for roughly a half hour now.  The application in Task Manager shows a consistent 22 MB memory usage, with rare periodic blips of 0.1 Mbps under network usage.

Using Windows 10

  • Where did you install it to?
  • Have you made sure that your AV/Firewall isn't complaining?

Not to toot, but how does your installation experience align with the prompts I mention in my thrown together guide?

  • City Council

From the log it looks like something is going wrong with the UI code and causing it not to run. The launcher core is actually starting to download files, but you can’t see what it’s doing.

If you kill the process and run the launcher again (not the install but the one under bin/win64), what happens?

Homecoming: City of Heroes Error

Could not load launcher bootstrap package. This may indiciate an Internet connectivity issue.

So, managed to install and launch just fine on my laptop. However, multiple attempts on my desktop yield the same issue/error message, and a failed install.

Solutions?

More details on the error... found out I had different anti-virals on the two computers... Desktop keeps kicking up this error:

That looks like you need to whitelist the folder and launcher files in your AV program. That or the firewall. It would help to know what spat that out.

Bitdefender, my anti-viral.

Yeah, nothing against HC... but I don't tend to whitelist rando files. Would rather have them investigate why it's flagging, and if false, submit it themselves to Bitdefender.

Having the same issue. I have Norton installed as it's Comcast's default AV. I dropped the firewall to install it, whitelisted it and still doesn't move forward from accept. Here's the log:

I'll say you have a mass number of issues regarding Norton as Norton HATES your launcher so much, it auto deletes it once it's installed. Suggestions?
