Ringo Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 (edited) EDIT 10/2/2022 - CHECK OUT POSTS #40 and #41 TO SEE MY LATEST BUILD FOR JENNY! Just thought I'd share my level 50 build for you guys. Leveling this build can be a bit of a pain as your TTK speed is slow until you get all your AoEs together, and you'll never be that great at killing bosses quickly. But once you do get your AoEs, you can set your solo difficulty to no bosses, x8 spawns and never look back. Only things to watch out for are Longbow Wardens, Rikti Mentalists, and Nemesis - they're all going to rebuff your confuse opener which can make things more difficult. Seeds>Roots>Freezing Rain>Tornado to destroy a spawn in seconds. Throw in a Lightning Storm when available, and you'll be moving right along. One thing on the non-purple build - there's only two procs in Freezing Rain because I wanted the recharge bonus from the Positron set. I fixed that for the purple build as Freezing Rain procs are the best. Edited October 3, 2022 by Ringo

Figment_ Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 That's one thing I love about CoH, two characters with the same archetype, primary, and secondary, two widely different builds, both quite effective. Here's my take on Plant/Storm/Ice. S/L defense softcap instead of Ranged/AoE, just inside perma hasten numbers, less purples and no archetype sets. Quite viable at +4 x8 with bosses off for faster kill speed, some missions can do bosses on, depending on enemies really. Hakarne Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Hey a Plant/Storm thread. I'll join the party! Here's my build with a video of it clearing a pack of +4/x8 in under 30 seconds with 2 bosses. Softcapped range defense, good all-around resists, and perma Carrion Creepers (thanks to Recharge Proc in Lightning Storm). Build is in the description: Also thanks Ringo, your info on Plant/Storm in some of the other threads is what made me roll one and it's now my favorite character of all time in COH (replacing my IO'd out Thugs/Traps MM from live). Thanks for the GREAT info! 3

Sapphire Lotus Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Have this build, amazing fun. I'd like to add that Praetorian Resistance tends to rebuff the confusion opener as well. Attempted the Nighstar AV mission in the underground, and the first pack completely ignored the confuse. Nearly got torn apart, as they also debuff your defense as well.
sainttbish4400 Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Hi, Thanks for the all of the builds. Could someone advise me on a rotation/priority for powers for group play?
krj12 Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Where does one get 1.962 of the designer. Is that Pine's version? I can't fully load some of these builds in my version of Mids.
Ringo Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 Those builds were done in Pines, which may or may not mean they'll work in the newest version Mids Reborn. Here is my latest build for Jenny which was built in Mids Reborn. I decided that I wanted A) More Damage, B) More Endurance, and C) More Resistances The Procs in Roots/Freezing Rain/Tornado should help up Jenny's damage from what it was from before The End Redux in the summons combined with Power Sink should help keep Jenny from having to stand around waiting for end to come back, even with her increased toggle drain. Hurricane continues to be a "sometimes" power, but that's even more so here because if everything is knocked away you're not going to catch anything with Power Sink. So run Hurricane when being charged in Melee, confuse your attackers, turn 'cane off and hit Power Sink. Rinse, repeat Charged Armor + Tough + set bonuses give Jenny capped Smashing/Lethal/Energy resistances. Amarsir Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Good timing. I'm currently working up a build for my own Plant/Storm. I should probably follow your lead and build for resistances but I'm not yet smart enough to have that much caution.
Ringo Posted July 20, 2019 Author Posted July 20, 2019 That build also has soft capped ranged and AoE defense And its necessary for my personal playstyle which is very "Hold my beer!"
HolderOfJustice Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Im having trouble opening these builds in Mids.. anyone able to help a brother out? Gettings "Error reading some power data, Will attempt to build character with known data - Arithmetic Operation resulted in an overflow." nothing happens 😞
krj12 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 (edited) @Ringo I've tried your build, appears to work fairly well, however, I have a question. You chose some fairly low level damage procs in a couple of the powers. Why not procs from purple sets, which I assume would do more damage? Edit: Never mind, most of the procs I'm thinking off wont slot in those powers. :) Edited July 28, 2019 by krj12
CaptTastic Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 (edited) I’m loving this combo so much. My build has perma-hasten, perma CC, capped ranged defence, and capped resistance to Smashing, Lethal, and Cold (not that you ever need cold resist!). Just basically stand back, confuse a mob, immob them, drop freezing rain on them, smash them with CC, then toss a tornado and water spout at them for good measure. There are some endurance challenges atm, I must admit. I’m pretty sure Incarnate slotting (I have nothing atm) will solve that though. Edited July 31, 2019 by CaptTastic 1

Compared to just the 20% S/L from running Tough before, that's going to be a huge upswing in survivability. Papaschtroumpf Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 Flight doesn't fit my character concept, but it's the only travel power that lets you slot 2 LOTGs, otherwise I like what you did even though I suspect endurance management is an issue early on or examplared low, with several LOTGs early in the build. I need to load it in MidsReborn and study it. I'm not good at reading short enhancement names in the forums, if SuddAcc--KB/+KD is the KB->KD IO I thought it was unique, otherwise turning KB into KD in hurricane could be a good idea?
DynastyJayoz Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 @Ringo How does the huge decrease in recharge affect the build overall? I mean, you lost a significant amount of it in exchange for some rather considerable survivability.
ParaBruce Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 @Papaschtroumpf: The KB->KD in Overwhelming Force is unique, but Sudden Acceleration's isn't. Have some today! Share some with friends! Hand it out like tracts!

Thanks for the GREAT info! what add on program or option do you have that puts the timers on your powers?
Papaschtroumpf Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 It's now built in the game. Go to Options. It was in a "beta" section I think on the main tab, I don't have the game in front of me at the moment. Super helpful!
Papaschtroumpf Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 So my plant/storm (I AM ROOT) reached 50 yesterday. It is very similar to Ringo's Jenny build above, which I started from, but I don't care for the mass sleep and I wanted the healing tree. Still soft-capped Ranged and AOE, soft-capped S/L (and Energy I think?) and a hair more recharge. I thought the price was a happy medium between all-out purples and WIOs and a cheap build. Endurance needs some monitoring when examplared, otherwise it's a pretty effective build, although the damage is not amazing, but this is a controller after all and I didn't want to do Fire. I can't remember how long the wait for Creepers is but it's not perma. I think that I'd want perma creepers if I spent more on a build.
