StoneKarma
I wanted a Brute, since I play almost all Scrappers. I wanted to try Claws since I don't have one. Same for Dark Armor, all that endurance drain must be good for something? So why not Claws/Dark Brute? Scratch all my itches at once. This build is currently in the low 40's so will be 50 soon. DEF: S/L 47%; Melee: 46% everything else is in the low to mid 20's RES: S/L 70%; Energy: 52%; Neg 76%; Fire/Cold 65%; Toxic 43%; Psi 78% Procs: Force Feedback is in Focus and Shockwave so it should happen often. Follow Up: Should I slot the Hecatomb proc instead, or leave it like it is? Dark Regeneration: Should I leave it like it is, or is there a better slotting? Incarnates? No clue here. Suggestions are welcome. I am looking for any suggestions, I took @Werner's Katana/Dark and someone else's Claws and this happened: Villain Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.7.2.10https://github.com/Crytilis/mids-reborn-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! Ruby Rocket
I think you're using too many slots on Dark Regen. Perhaps send a few of those over to Cloak of Darkness, unless you're set on getting the KB protection from Fury of the Gladiator. Dark Regen just needs a little endurance redux and recharge to be epic. I slot mine with 1 Fury of Gladiator -Res and 2 Touch of Nictus, or you can proc it out with the slots you have. Slotting it for Damage on the Brute version isn't going to be a game changer. The Scrapper version does way better base damage. I run 8 pts of KB protection on my Dark/Dark and it seems to be plenty outside of Lord Recluse. You're gonna slip most of the KB attacks anyway, so it'd be quite rare to get knocked off your feet. Here's my current Dark Armor slotting. I have a ton of +to Hit on my toon, so I run Cloak of Fear for the -to hit over Oppressive Gloom. I find it far more useful. From looking at your recharge, I'm assuming that you're looking to work Follow-Up into being permanent in your attack chain. If so you'd have plenty of +to hit to run Cloak of Fear if you'd like. Just a quick thought... If you're wanting more recharge, 5 red fortune in cloak of darkness and 1 LotG gives you like +13% recharge and will give you the extra defense. You can easily peel those slots off Dark Regeneration and still have one of the best heals in the game. Ruby Rocket
Alpha Slot: I like Musculature for extra damage. However, you can use Spiritual for recharge and a boost to your healing. And some more endurance reduction. If you're worried about endurance, Ageless is a blanket patch (the the bonus of +Recharge). Otherwise, I'd suggest Clarion and dump some of the KB protection in your build and salvage a few extra slots for more sets. Hybrid: On a brute, I'd either go with Melee or Assault Radial. Dark armor is very susceptible to defense debuff. Melee would solve that half the time. Also provides some extra KB protection if you're looking to free up some of your slots. My Dark/Dark Scrapper runs at the damage cap 99% of the time by leveraging Musculature, Ageless, and Assault Core with Perma-Soul Drain and Adrenaline Boost (love that power...). It's a blast watching her melt mobs. Dropping lvl 54 Boss' in 4 to 5 punches even when they try heal themselves in combat. Brutes are a little trickier to get to damage cap, but every little bit helps. From what I understand, Assault Radial is the better of the two for damage output on Brutes. silentbutdebtly
I have a Dark/Claws tank that I enjoy. I could dig up my build if you want but for now my advice for Dark Regen is to get a Theft of Essence proc in there. This will help offset the huge end cost for the power. It still costs a lot, but you get an endurance 'rebate' from the proc going off. More targets usually gets more end back. Sometimes it gives you more back than Dark Regen costs. (the Theft of Essence set gives 4.5% E/N res which I found worth it, and thought I'd mention but not for everyone) 1
Ruby Rocket
I like that theft of essence trick. I might need to add a slot to mine for it. Could be a good way to dump Ageless for something more fun like Clarion Radial or Rebirth Core... 🙂 1 Scrappers ...bringing more cowbell since 2004

StoneKarma
Thank you for all the suggestions. Is there any real advantage for a claws/dark, or would dark/dark be better. Especially from a Damage dealing standpoint. I've leveled a Dark/Dark and this Claws/Dark both to mid-forties. Which it is abysmal, to say the least. The endurance...it's like having a Malta Sapper follow you around all the time. BUT, I can see where IO's will help a lot. Will I get a Scrapper, but tougher, or more like a Tank with no endurance and all of his/her shields dropping?
Steel
I played a Claws/Dark on Retail, never hit 50 on this particular combo though and only got a few IO's in before sunset, but I have a little experience with both powersets on several melee characters. Dark Armor is a toggle-heavy set, but the endurance cost of each individual toggle is actually slightly lower compared to those of other armor sets. The main culprit of DA's endurance woes is often Dark Regen. Getting the Theft of Essence proc, then frankenslotting for endurance first, accuracy second, and recharge/healing a distant third will make a huge difference. I'm on my phone so I can't load up Mids (I'll take a look when I get home), but I've noticed you only have three ST attacks which suggests to me you're using AoE's in your ST rotation. That might be another reason why your blue bar is suffering.
Snarky
i would throw a theft of essence proc in dark regen. you got to be hurting for endurance. that will solve any problems there, or at least make it better
Ruby Rocket
Dark Armor toggles are broken down pretty well by damage types. It'd be a rare occasion to have to run them all. However, proper slotting of endurance reductions, a couple Performance Shifter +End proc, and you should have no issues with your endurance. If you're still running SOs you need 2 endurance reductions slotted in everything. If you're using IOs 1 endurance reduction is "OK" with everything but the "heavy users" in your build. Weave, Tough, Obsidian Shield, Dark Regen, and Maneuvers will all need 2. Running Maneuvers and Assault will most definitely crush any hopes of endurance preservation without set bonus' to offset their massive endurance consumption. Snarky
i run Dark Armor with all toggles constant, including stealth and fear. but i run it with dark melee. i throw high recharge on the build. its just beautiful to grind into mobs with
StoneKarma
Ok, here is where I am. I took all of your great suggestions and tried to fit them all into the build. Too many changes to list, but: DEF: S/L 49%; Melee 51.6%, rest of DEF at 20% RES: S/L 79.6%; NEG 75%; Toxic 36%; Everything else 50% - 70% Recharge: 210%, Perma-Hasten, if the Force Feedback in Focus or Shockwave procs, 310% recharge. Lots of procs for damage, and especially endurance. I think this build is pretty good, did I miss anything? Any more suggestions? And especially, thank you for all the help, I really appreciate it. Steel
Some observations: The Numina unique is a proc120, it will only work for 2 minutes after you've used Soul Transfer. The PrevMed proc doesn't have that problem, so I would rather put that in there. Your global recharge is 110% including Hasten. The FF proc doesn't stack ingame, but it does in Mids', so that's how you got 310%. Dark Regen costs 24.52 endurance and only has a 62.5% chance to hit +3s (without Follow Up and the Gauss or Siphon Insight procs active). That's both expensive as well as too unreliable. Similarly, Cloak of Fear only has a base 41.87% chance to hit +3s (and 59% with two stacks of Follow Up) and quite frankly it's hard to justify the endurance cost of this power if it misses half the time . Your build depends too much on having your +ToHit procs active, but they simply won't trigger that often. Cloak of Darkness and Combat Jumping are IMHO overslotted just for the set bonuses without much benefit to the powers themselves. Those ReacDefs add less than half a percent extra defense, six LotGs add less than a quarter percent compared to just three LotGs. Again, it's just my opinion, but I think that's a wasteful use of slots especially if you're not hardcapping any resistances with them. You could slot the ReacDef scaling resist proc anywhere of course, but if it's the set bonus you want maybe consider two-slotting a Prestige travel power with Celerity IOs instead, like you did with Sprint. Having just three ST attacks may be a bit awkward. You would have to use AoEs in your ST rotation to prevent significant gaps in your attack chain, but your blue bar will suffer for it. I haven't made a Claws/Dark on Homecoming, but this is probably what I would do: Spoiler Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.1.25https://github.com/Crytilis/mids-reborn-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build!
