Is DP/Sonic any good for a mostly soloer?

No.  Sonic Resonance is an absolutely terrible Corruptor secondary for soloing.  It's pretty strictly team-based only.  If you want solo, go with Rad, Dark, Time, or Nature.

I say that as someone whose namesake is a Beam Rifle/Sonic Resonance Corruptor.

Also, Sonic Resonance is better on a Defender than a Corruptor, sadly.  For the better -res values, the better AoE mez protection, and most importantly Vigilance.  Sonic Resonance eats endurance for breakfast, but it's not so bad on Defenders thanks to the Vigilance endurance reduction.

Thanks for the confirmation. My characters name was Country Feedback, and he was an evil gunslinger... And I am a fan of the REM song 🙂

Is there a Sonic/DP AT that is viable? Just to try and keep the concept going.

Blaster would be what you're looking for.  A DP/Sonic Blaster would do well.

You can side swap and heroes can become villains.  So you could do a Defender.

I tried one, i couldn't play it solo only bringing it out for teamage, couldn't even fit in a single target attack chain but if your only teaming thats not important. It's DP so its fun regardless:

I came to that conclusion late last night as I started to take my Sonic/Sonic corruptor through the first couple missions in Nova Praetoria.

Kinda had that "let's take another look at that map...." moment.

I may still be enough of a Stubborn Damnfool ID10T to proceed anyway. I really like the character name and concept. But several story arcs that I'm going to want to do will have laser guided ambushes that are going to be ROUGH without any help from his secondary, just Burn-Or-Die options. Soloing Praetoria, Sonic Cage might be useful to cage a boss while I clear up some adds, but even Hoverblasting, without sustains, it will be the roughest Praetorian I've rolled so far, bar none.

Definitely going to need to sugar daddy him with a plethora of helpful IO uniques, but many won't be slottable until he's most of the way through the journey.

i may need to also build up a stockpile of LARGE inspirations in my email for him to draw upon.

Problem also is I find the solo content in Pretoria a little more difficult than blue or red side.

I highly recommend playing goldside, there is some great content.  Just make a character that is able to solo well or it will be frustrating.

You can make a sonic/DP defender that is viable solo. It will look strange and won't be overly powerful, but can be done.

You will want to make sure you have your pistols on poison most of the time due to the -damage values you can draw which will keep you up and running. I'd suggest macro buttons on damage types till you find what works best in this situation for you as DP can add lots of different effects.

I would suggest med and fighting pools so you might not have room for the team rings. Med pool give a decent single target debuff and your self heal. We all know what fighting pool brings.

I'd also add hasten as the best power in the set is Liquefy which has a really nasty recharge on it (300 seconds).

Sleep is the worst annoyance for you though simply because you cannot add protection and will just stop until hit again.

Another issue to overcome is your -res toggle will have to anchored to a pet which mostly do not want to melee for defender/corrupter types.

My strategy would be to Liquefy (or sonic cage the biggest baddie) going in, unleash bullet rain, hail of bullets, bullet rain and then finish stuff of till the boss is open to attack. When boss is up, put -regen on him and kill kill kill.

heal up and go to the next.

Much of your actual damage would come from procs. You would also want a few kb procs in there too for recharge on Liquefy.
