Build Request: Rad/EA scrapper w/ Combat TP, TP, Fold Space

Grimm2

Recommended Posts

So I'm back in the game and am having some fun with Rad Melee on an Inv/Rad tanker, and I'm getting the itch for critzzzz, boi. @Sovera made a post on Rad/EA, and my theme for this character aches for the Teleportation pool. I've tried tweaking Sovera's build by swapping the Flight pool for Teleport, but it just doesn't look as pretty. Or strong. Anyone want to take a swing at it?

Sovera's post.

Some small sacrifices are needed to insert the teleport pool. Also, don't take this the wrong way but I will have to roll up a newspaper and swat you for taking team teleport and not Fold Space.

*grabs your paper, dramatically unfurling it to the front page. It reads, "GRIMM'S MIDS OUT OF DATE, COMMUNITY DISGUSTED!"*

Those are supposed to be Combat TP, TP, and Fold Space. Should have made that clearer.

Ah well, I was hoping there was a more elegant solution, but I'll try it out and see how it plays. Thanks so much for looking at it!

An update: Sovera's build is a work of art, as usual! At the moment, Quantum Reality has a mostly SO build at 41, with a few endurance- management IOs and frankenslotted Energize/ Energy Drain, and 5 damage procs in IG. Procced IG absolutely defines Rad Melee, for me.

The teleport pool is a very refreshing change of pace on a melee. I can go to a mob, or they can come to me. I keybound Teleport to double-leftclick, and Combat Teleport has both a mouse button, and a TP-to-target button. Combat TP is fast as heck, and delivers on the feel that There is the same as Here.

Sorry for the thread Necro,

I was wondering how this build ended up fairing?  I am kinda interested in it for my own scrapper along with trying out that Combat Teleport trick, it sounds fun!

Just looking though at the build and I notice something about the Defensive...I guess /EA is mostly type defense and not positional?  What is the Def softcap for Scrappers?  Do you find the Rad animations to be slow?

The softcap for scrappers is the same as it is for everyone, 45%.  The differences exist on how easily a given AT and set can achieve that value.  EA will reach it more easily as a defense based set than a resist based set or an AT with no self effecting defensive powers (primary or secondary) at all like say Empathy.

Note, EA is more difficult to cap than SR or Shield due to being type based versus positional. EA is still in the running for best armors. I have three at 50. I'm less a fan of Rad melee though, and I have two at 50.

How procs were handled already got changed which impacted Rad. I'm not sure any future changes for the set are on the table as quite frankly there are outright underperforming sets to dealt with first.

I'm the OP, I've been away from the game for a bit and I only just saw this.

I got the combo to 50 and did some incarnates. I found the TP pool to be awesome, the TP-to-foe trick works great and Fold Space comes in handy.

EA is a very solid armor that has a T9 worth taking and cycling with Barrier.

Rad melee I soured on because of the animation speed. I tried it with Katana and got it in the 40s before altitis kicked in, and it was much snappier.

Yeah, that seemed to be my takaway too.  I really wanted to like rad but the slowness of it made me ditch the character.
