So I know the weakness in this build is lacking def debuffs. But my Elec/Regen is pretty fun to play.

I don’t have the build on hand but I’m currently at S/L res of 65% and S/L def of about 42%. Global recharge of 58%, Using Lightning Rod, Spring Attack and my incarnate Pbaoe is pretty nasty.

I’m mostly posting because I haven’t seen anyone post anything on Elec\Regen brutes. And was looking to compare. I’ll try to post Mids build later if I can get on my PC.

  • FallenMystic changed the title to Elec/Regen Brute, how come it’s not played?

I think it's not so much the Def debuff resistance, it's the fact that the set that is all about regen, doesn't have regen resistance. You can get high regen with willpower or bio and also get more utility along with some debuff resistance of some sort.  And it became more noticeable when everything is done at +4 now. So when they floor your regen and hit you twice, you just die if you're not reactive enough. For me, I just don't have the patience fit it as I've gotten older. Just my quick takeaway.

It's because it's a pretty weak combo. The game is easy enough that you can do whatever with whatever but once the difficulty is upped a bit more the shortcomings become evident. Namely how Elec Melee has very poor single target damage and mediocre AoE and Regen doesn't do enough to keep a character alive once the envelope is pushed.

You can prop both with fancy builds but it is, as the colloquialism go, polishing a turd.

Welcome to the cool people club.

I rolled up an elec/regen after taking a random roll challenge

Slot Machine's Random Challenge - General Discussion - Homecoming (homecomingservers.com)

It's not the most synergistic or potent combo but that was the point with the challenge and I had fun with it. Originally my build used Whirlwind but I found that quick recovery alone is not enough to sustain it so I dropped that in favor of darkest night.

Here's my build now

As I noted in several posts about regen builds. Don't skimp on slow resistance, it'll be the death of you.

Yeah I get it, all of that was brought up on the thread talking about how Regen could be changed. I just think it hasnt kept up with the addition of powers that the game has seen.

And Instant healings original nerf.

And Sovera, Elec Melee would be alot better if END DRAIN actually was effective end game.

I agree with all points made but it was a fun build to lvl, and the build can still handle 54x8 solo in S/L damage mobs.

Even if regen had permanent Instant Healing with undiminished numbers and you somehow hit 45% S/L Def with some absurdly high resist numbers you still face the same problem. Regen does one thing and one thing only - it tries to survive. Unfortunately to make regen a highly survivable set you need to invest an enormous amount of your build focus towards shoring up its holes, this leaves less room to proc out your offensive capabilities. More so than tanks or scrappers, brutes love to have as many procs in their attacks as possible because of their low base damage. No matter what regen is a click-to-survive set, and if you need to click your survive skills in combat you're cutting in to your dps. No matter what regen has zero inherent offensive tools. No damage aura, no recharge buff, no damage buff, no burn/fiery embrace, no resist debuff, no shield charge, no long recharge aoe proc nuke, only a single power to slot a lotg, and otherwise poor IO set diversity. They could basically make regen immune to damage and other sets will still outperform it because survival is only relevant up to the point that you're not dead and the lack of offensive tools will always show itself.

Currently on fire.

And it has survived every nerf buff thrown at it. 😒

Electric Armor and Energy Armor both have good endurance drain/recovery powers. I have an Eng/Elec/Mu Brute that can kill groups endurance. Electric attacks alone aren't going to do it though.
