AR/Trap Corrupting, help me tune this!

Hi guys!

 

I have fallen in love with AR ... have a wonderful Blaster and Sent with it, plus a MM , and now I am trying to create a corruptor.

 

Scouring the corruptor forum was quite informing in the lack of builds (only found 2) so decided to grab one by plainguy and tweak it to my own playstyle

 

Care to give this a look and see if it works? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Love you all!

Looking decent enough! No big arguments with your power choices, and slotting is fair enough for the most part.

 

It looks like you are going for S/L and Ranged defense. This a bit on the ambitious side, and you sacrifice a good amount of either potential resist or proc damage by doing so. /Traps offers a good opportunity to ignore Scorpion shield and instead pick up a resist shield, while still being within striking range of most softcaps. Personally, I would just go for softcap ranged and pick epic resist.

 

End management is also an issue. You have a fair few toggles and very little extra end support slotted. Focused accuracy seems a bit redundant with tactics here - I would drop FA and get something fun. Maybe Veng as a lotg mule or some other one slot wonder.

 

One neat little trick - the decimation build-up proc works in Seekers! It will go off on cast basically every time. This turns Seekers into not only a great alpha breaker/debuff, but a handy build up power. Your current Seeker slotting is a bit unfocused right now in general - I can't tell how this winter set really serves the build.

 

Additionally, you haven't used the Apoc purple proc anywhere. This is a big missed opportunity for your single target damage. I find KB to KD is not really needed in sniper rifle - I'd drop it there. Broadly speaking, single target knockback is not a big deal on a ranged damage AT.

 

There are plenty of other optimizations sitting around that I would approach differently if going from the ground up, but these are the more impactful points that stand out.

Very close to 50 after some farms, mishes, tfs and even nemesis invasions...

 

I have tweaked the build a bit further as I have progressed  and discovered that macros REALLY REALLY make the TRAPS secondary feel much much better.

 

ts insane! Caltrops + Acid Mortar (with 2 procs, one for res debuff and other for extra damage) combo makes all your attacks be blissful!

 

I also made caltrops auto drop on my target with a macro and binded to left shift the Force Field Generator .. I run all the time with pretty decent defense and playing aggressively with a mix of defensive positioning make the build dance in my fingertips as I only spam the easy to reach left shift and 1 to 9 in the keyboard.

This binds FFG to lshift , pretty simple to spam it unconsciously while you do your attack chain

 

/macro CALT powexec_location target caltrops

 

This creates a small macro button that you use to supplant the regular caltrops button and forces the caltrops to land on a target , as the range on caltrops is so short it works better on a targeted monster.

This is what I am just playing around with in MIDs

definitely could use some work.. 

I was working around Full Auto and recharge. 
Full Auto can get down to 13 seconds.. 
You could get rid of Snipe and put in Oppressive Gloom as it works well enough on minions.. It would help you drop Trip Mines a bit more easily. 
But Mid is not displaying FFG defense numbers so just add 16.7 to all defense numbers so you are pretty close to full defense cap.  A few points short in AOE will not bother you.

I made my Traps/AR do pretty insanely well on the pylon test for a Defender (~2:10 average I recall). Sure fighting a stationary target with Traps/AR is cheating, but still... thing out DPS’s most of my Blasters in that setting after I rebuilt it.
 

I think you want Dominate. AR S/T damage is miserable. Though Corruptor variant will be a smidge more bearable so you do you.

 

Also I would’ve 6-slotted Poison Trap, mostly with procs. Testing dictates Caltrops, Acid Mortar, and Poison Trap are the three Traps powers that leverage procs best.

 

Among other things. Our builds are way different but that’s ok.

I've started to forego some defense just to proc stuff out. This is like 

 

Soft capped Melee/Ranged with FF but still using Resist armor; I don't see a reason for the most part to go for capping those non positionals and they are close so its doable if you want

 

I personally cannot stand a Cor without Cardiac, as endurance is a fun killer. It has the benefit of the range increase which is pretty fun with Full Auto. I also assume at least +1 cytoskeleton.  Im not a fan of caltrops as a whole, but procs can be moved to it based on preference
