Savage/Shield

The purpose of this build was to create a well rounded brute.

 

This build can take a beating that most builds will likely not be able to, on the downside there is no self healing.

The defenses are capped and all the resists are about as high as I could get them with out spending some serious time in mids.

The damage should be pretty good but mids doesn't work well with savage so I won't know till I am done leveling and slotting.

I unfortunately do not know how to use enhancement levelers in mids but just throw one of those on in combat jumping and you'll be capped

 

Please give me any constructive criticism below or take the build and try it yourself. Thank you for your eye in my post and I hope we both learn something from this.

Admittedly, I rolled my first Savage Melee toon tonight. So....I don't know much about it yet. Just playing around in Mid's, I came up with this build. Soft Capped defenses, a bit better S/L resists (but your other resists are better than mine), and I think this build regens a bit more. I have a Shield Tank, and I did not take Hasten. The reason is that I HATE having to click a mez power, so since only one power can be put on "auto", I have Active Defense set on auto. I know...I know...it would be easy to take Hasten and have it on Auto and just click Active Defense.

   I *think* this build would do a bit better damage. Again, I am unfamiliar with Savage. Overall, your build looks pretty sturdy.

/bind w "+forward$$pow_exec_auto Active Defense"

/bind d "+right$$pow_exec_auto Hasten"

 

Uses WASD movement keys and resets auto fire every press of a button.  If you leave a power cued like the next attack, it will not fire off until the cued goes off.

 

change

/bind W "+Forward

/bind S "+Backward

/bind A "+Left

/bind D "+Right

 

Or you can fuxxor your key and make W "+left go left when you hit forward.

 

++forward is auto run, basically ++ just makes it run in the direction you slap next to it

I've read Hemorrage isn't that good. When I look at your build it shows this... Am I missing something?

You're forgetting Savage is a "combo" set.
Hemorrhage is DOT.  And the damage stacks up to 5 times with Blood Frenzy.
 

To see the variances, go down and lock Blood Frenzy.
Then fiddle the slider.

If you want to be godlike, pick anything.

Again, admittedly, I've not played Savage, so I don't know anything about it. But why does the damage for Hemorrhage just show (-122,1)? And with the Blood Frenzy bar slid over to 5, it shows (-152.9) ?

 Does that mean that with 5 stacks of Blood Frenzy it will do a total of 152.9 pts of damage? Over time? I just don't understand why it shows the damage as (-152.9). Am I making any sense?

 

Take Rending Flurry...it's a DoT, but it shows up like this:

My farmer is savage/fire, so the best I can say the display is bugged.  I have 2 savage brutes, /Elec and /Fire + a Savage/Shield scrapper.  Only the /Elec has hemorrhage and its underwhelmingly in the damage except that it actually will stack with enough recharge; I think...given that I cannot see if dots actually stack except for combat spam which doesn't say much.  They could over right each one for all I know.

 

I do have a cheap build for a savage/bio stalker that kind of disappointing since its so crunchy soft, but its a hoot since hemorrhage basically resets randomly and acts like a second AS out of hide.  And the animation is incredible if you can AS than follow up with hemorrhage; it looks so savage!

I don't play many savage toons precisely because Hemorrhage is so bad. They all run maiming slash/savage strike/vicious slash (with an ff+rech in) for single targets with rending flurry and savage leap for mobs. Single target attack chain is plenty dps, enemy looks like its not taking a scratch and then just evaporates. Its not a set like ss where you hit something with ko blow and it vanishes, you need to be able to take some hits. Haven't tried it with shield but its great with /bio and /stone.

Giving Electric Armor a go with Savage currently. I have to run solo periodically under the notion that if opponents are defeated at a reasonable pace while soloing then I should be contributing meaningfully on a team.
