So I am considering yet another alt, and having gotten ninja, bots, mercs, and zombies to 50 or very close, I'm considering something a little more "selfish".  To that end, I'm thinking of thugs/sonic, for the -res effects, status protection, and +res to myself and my minions.  Does anyone have any experience with or advice for this combination?  Thanks in advance!

I apologize, I don't have any advice, but after seeing your post, I'm now immensely intrigued by this combo because it seems like it has the potential to be fun both as a solo combo and team combo. Bruiser gets to wear the hula hoop, thugs are pretty tanky, and then the other bonuses you mentioned. I put procs into Liquefy on beta, but I'm not sure if it's a pseudopet and idk how to track if those sorts of things are actually working or not. I am pretty sure the enforcers can take the Achilles Heel proc, which will boost the -res even further. Only thing missing is heals, but that can be handled by the medicine pool for leveling, and isn't as big of an issue once you hit the later levels and start getting IO's and incarnates going. Thanks for the new alt idea Biostem! lol

I highly recommend firing this up on Brainstorm if you're not convinced by it just yet. I decided to roll one up, set it to 50, and then bumbled a build. I only "test" things at +0/x4 because I know I'm not good at building a character yet and I could see where I messed up right after I set the powers and slots, but was too lazy to run a respec and start over.

 

In my brief playing, here's what I noticed so far:

  • It's fun. Thugs are already pretty powerful, and I feel like the -res provided from /Sonic and the Achille's Heel proc in Enforcers and Liquefy helps.
  • You are mostly definitely going to need some form of crowd control. I just ran against some Council and those damn wolves run like nobody's business, on top of the fear effects provided by the Arsonist. I grabbed Electric Fences from the Mu pool, but I'm not sure it was a great choice; I was having issues keep more than 2-3 mobs immobilized--the best use of it I found was to Fold Space them to me then attempt to immobilize them. Liquefy is also helpful for this when it's available.
  • The thugs and bruiser accept the Force Feedback +Recharge proc
  • With /Sonic having 3ish skippable powers and not needing a ton of slotting in the powers you do take, it opens up a lot of options for Power/Epic Pool choices.
  • I probably could have upped the difficulty with relative ease were I not half asleep and more confident in my abilities. Though I think the issue of the Arsonist making mobs run might make me, personally, hesitate to go +4/x8 until I learn how to play better, unlock incarnates, etc. They took almost no damage against even level Council thanks to a combo of their leadership buffs, my (enhanced) res shields, my leadership toggles, and their proc bonuses, so it will be interesting to see how they fare against the harder content, especially once you start level shifting with incarnates.

I only played for like 30ish minutes, so take my experience with a grain of salt, but I totally think this combo is worth playing and experimenting with. I look forward to rolling one on the live servers and leveling it a little more organically to get a feel for how to play it better. 🙂 Just thought you might be interested.

I thought it was intended that the henchmen which provide buffs only provide them to the other henchmen?

That my very well be the case, although my protector bots do apply their shields to my character in addition to the other bots.  I'll have to recheck the text for those powers, though...

I recommend taking the Medicine power pool and, should your build allow for it, the Rebirth radial Destiny.  It's not annoying as it was back on live thanks to how quickly you can resummon, re-equip, and re-upgrade henchmen, but some form of heal for your henchmen is a must IMO.

OH right, and the demons cast their shield on the MM as well. May be worth asking a dev about.

Pretty sure that is working as intended (always been that way at least).  From what I remember though, the enforcer toggles will work on other player's thug pets.  So, if you get more than 1 thug MM on a team, they stack to a pretty crazy amount.

It's post-power-pick.  EVERYTHING is on.

Turn off SuperSpeed, Burnout, and turn off the proc in Kick.
Also, make sure to get your Accolades.

You can turn off Tough if you really need it.

Also consider that I haven't set a Destiny power.
Ageless anyone?

You just sail all the additional attacks in when the opportunity (Hey!  I've got FREE ENDURANCE just sitting here taking up space on my blue bar!) presents itself.

You can turn off Tough if you really need it.

It's tight.  But that's why you have PETS.
You just sail all the additional attacks in when the opportunity (Hey!  I've got FREE ENDURANCE just sitting here taking up space on my blue bar!) presents itself.

Warning 1, end game build with lots of inf

Warning 2 for self diagnosed OCD people, frankenslotting

 

I got bored just taking the screenshots

Those are acc/dmg hamis in the pets

those are cytos in the enforcers

those are ribos in the resist stuff

those are quad/tri stats at the end of the attacks

I am at 86% global rech

I know I have no hasten

call thugs has: Mark of Supremacy acc/dmg/end and end/global procs

gang war ATO1s are all the ones with Recharge and 2 Call to Arms acc/rech and acc/dmg rech

I got my thugs/son up to about level 41.  Slotted them with basic IOs and a few proc ones, (panacea, miracle, numina in health, a steadfast for some kb protection, and an achilles in enforcers).  I went with the Mu patron for  a broader res shield and the AoE immob to help get the most out of liquify.  I'm probably going to try for the 3 +RES auras for my pets, but aren't there yet.

Defense, Resist, Recovery, Regen, End Consumption, and Recharge (both global and per-power).

If you can pull that outta Mids, you have roughly 99% of what you need to know.

Note: Sorry if you dislike the Export-Short-form.
I find that most questions about what's what can be solved simply by opening the build in Mids.
So why shovel umpty-jillion extra characters in?


Also, exporting full long-form causes the HC forums to freak out, unable to post.

My thugs/sonic is now 50.  Working on IO-ing them out and took them through a +4/x8 ITF the other day - didn't lose too many minions all things being equal, but Romulus made quick work of them...

Yeah I'm figuring dropping gang war on something like that first then the pets. See if  GW absorbs some of that initial strike.
