I'm fully aware that Praetoria isn't the place where all the cool kids hang out, but I was looking at the various day job powers and it's pretty clear that Praetoria is the figurative red-headed step-child of alignments in CoH. Often ignored, treated with disdain, more often than not.

It would be nice if there were a spot to log out and get temp jet packs like on blue and red sides.
It would be nice to at least have access to those zones and not get booted out completely back to Nova in the alternative.

Yes, I know it's easy to buy one from p2w. But I was making a challenge character and it dawned on me that the limited zones, limited options are just some of the few reasons why this area is typically ignored.

To get a day job jet pack blue side, you have to be in the Shadow Shard. Which is considered a level 40+ zone.

To get a day job jet pack red side, you have to be in Grandville. Which is a level 40+ zone.

Praetoria gets up to level 40 if you count Night Ward. Praetorian players have been asking for more Praetorian zones/content, but given the requirements for a day job jet pack red and blue side, Praetoria should not get such a day job location for itself until it has a level 40+ zone.

When day jobs were first created in I13, getting to the Shadow Shard was challenging for a low-level character. You had take the yellow-line tram to Steel or Skyway, go the length of the zone to get the green-line tram to Talos, take the ferry to PI, run the length of the island to get to Portal Corp., then go through the portal to Firebase Zulu. Similarly, to get to Grandville you had to take multiple ferries and cross zones to reach them. In I19 they combined the tram and ferry lines. When they created the TUNNEL system in I23, it became trivially easy. You can go through a portal in Atlas Park and exit in Firebase Zulu, or go through a portal in Mercy and exit in Grandville. Which is my long-winded way of saying that tying a Praetorian jet pack day job to having a level 40+ zone is silly. Just create a location they can log off to get the badge.

I mean, the simple solution would be to give Praetorians access to Cimerora, Ouroboros, and the Shadow Shard. The easiest way to do that would be to add a portal to the back of the Midnighter's Mansion in the Night Ward or make them accessible via Echo Plaza...

Gold side players have been asking for a level 40+ zone and content for a while. Why is it such a bad idea to merge the requests and maintain the requirements for the jet pack? I'm not saying that the gold side level 40 zone should be difficult to access if made, just that the requirements should be the same. Just making a location for the jet pack requires work on the devs part, so why not get two birds with one task? A level 40 zone for Praetorian characters that just happens to also be the <insert name> day job location that grants the jet pack day job power.

Let's see... Designate a location in an existing goldside zone as the day job location for a new day job badge that awards a jet pack, or create an entirely new zone, with all of the attendant geometry, random neutral NPC activity, open-world hostile NPC spawns, contacts and their missions, trainers, vendors, exploration badges... designate the zone as awarding the badge and jet pack temp power... and all of the work creating the new zone is for the fraction of the playerbase who want to play past 40 while staying goldside out of the fraction of the playerbase who play goldside.

And giving access to goldside characters to the Shadow Shard would be a slap in the face to all the redside characters, whose players have been asking for access to the Shadow Shard since back in Live. Goldside has gotten short shrift because it was developed and released in response to the clamor for more difficult content, and released with an 'end cap' at 20 because the devs didn't want to keep it stuck in development until they completed making a full 1-50 experience, along with ways for characters to rotate alignment between all three factions the way you could for red- and blue-side. Then the Great Purge happened, and whatever plans Paragon Studios had for extending goldside vanished into the mists... and Homecoming doesn't have enough development staff to advance goldside content at any significant speed. They may be working on it even now, keeping it close to their chests to keep people from clamoring to have their favorite content be given priority of place; we don't know. I'd like to think that there is at least some planning along those lines going on, but I'd rather let them work at their own pace than keep badgering them about it.

The thing I am looking at is that between blue, red, and gold sides, all day jobs have the same requirements to get the same rewards. Caregiver? Blue side badge awarded for logging off in any hospital that gives an auto-regeneration bonus while out of combat. Pain Specialist? Red side badge awarded for logging off in any hospital that gives an auto-regeneration bonus while out of combat. Gold side gets either Caregiver or Pain Specialist depending on your alignment and grants an auto-regeneration bonus while out of combat, provided the character logs off in any hospital. And if you get Caregiver blue side and then go red side? You get Pain Specialist instead. All the day job badges have the same award for the same requirement between blue, gold, and red sides. So the jet pack request should play by the same rules as every other day job, day job badge, and day job power.

I'm not asking the devs to prioritize making gold content. All I am saying is that the day job requirements should remain the same if added to gold side and there already is a request that is brought up regularly in new threads asking for higher level zones for gold side. Which if implemented, would be ideal for adding the Praetorian version of Dimensional Explorer/Arachnos Official.

There are 33 Dayjobs and 18 of them are feasible for Praetorians currently.

Commuter, Shop Keeper, and Pilot being faction specific, so if you have down all the side switching between Loyalist & Resistance, you're locked out of one or two.

It's feasible to put other Dayjob spots available since they have added a few since HC.  Pilot, Tailor, and Shopkeeper are all newish.

Adding other spots would be nice, the ability of Praetorians to travel to Primal would solve that with maybe a different faction switch mission (or let Null switch your factions?) would be another nice add for those Praetorians unwilling to let go. 😉

There might be some messy faction code in that though since it does seem to tacked on with the usual spit and rubberbands.

I mean, I have no objection to making the Shadow Shard a co-op zone open to Praetorians, Red-siders, and lesser toons alike...

All your newish listed badges were available on Live. They are listed on paragonwiki.com. (Also, there is no Tailor day job badge. It's Fashion Designer for being at any Icon or Face Maker location including in Pocket D.)

Not new badges, new DJ locations that Homecoming added to be able to get them for a Praetorian.    The locations in Echo Plaza for Fashion Designer and Pilot, the store in the Winter zone.  Works outside the winter event as well.

And yes, I just didn't have the Tailor badge name down.
