Good, bad.  In the end, it doesn't matter, because as I've said before, most people under age 35, and especially under age 30, will not use anything else.  So it's either use it, or get left behind.

I don't use it, but I do think it's funny that the latest shiny communications tool for the kids is 'IRC but proprietary and uglier'.

Is this going to be a faithful discussion or are you already firmly set on saying Discord is bad? I can just as easily link posts that support the opposite of any given opinion - of course this doesn't make either of our points relevant. If anything, it shows how easy it is to prove that things are subjective and good and bad can mean different things to different people.

How about a discussion about what things you find are effective or ineffective to your specific use case about the platform? Then others can share how they use it or the reasons they don't? Either way, that is the official platform (along with the forums) Homecoming has established based on their needs for communicating with the community.

To be fair, it has some advantages over IRC.  Namely that you can continue to see conversations after you log off, with no break in between.  There's a way to do that with IRC via BNC, but it's an ugly kludge at best.

And if you are worried about Discord snooping in on your computer and your activities, just use a web browser.  You can even set up a separate profile with your favorite web browser exclusively for Discord.  You don't have to install the client.

Good, bad, Discord is the guy with the gun.

(No guns were used in the creation of this post.  I don't use discord because I think it is a pile of shit in terms of would want to get out of it.  There's lots of good collaborative software out there for projects.  There's lots of good posting software out there for putting your opinion out there.  Discord is garbage for the purposes I would want to use it for, and if it's great for other people, hoorah, good for them!)

I'm not sure glassdoor reviews are going to sway me to install/use discord. Just sayin'

Thank you! Exactly! I posted those websites to show the slippery slope in action - anyone can link a website on the internet that will say whatever they want. It is a bad faith discussion to use those types of things as evidence.

While Homecoming has an official discord, there is no requirement of its use to enjoy the game. I'm locking this thread since feedback about Discord itself would be better suited for Discord's support page found here - https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us
