hatybee Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) Hi guys, im trying to make a blaster that only uses Devices, with the exception of a lvl 1 power from any primary set. Would appreciate any help with it. Yeah the endurance is dipping into the negative. kinda a newbie so yeah.... Edit: after having the kind ppl in the discord help out the newer build is below. device_only_blaster_1_but_with_endu.mxd Edited April 24, 2023 by hatybee
Bionic_Flea Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Here's a quick reshuffling of stuff. Regarding endurance: You had Personal Force Field on. You can't attack with that on. You had both Whirlwind and Repulsion field on. Both use a ton of endurance for a toggle. And using them both may lead to stacking KB, even with the KB to KD IO, and the last thing you want is to knock things away from your bombs. I substituted those for Grant Invisibility and Repulsion Bomb. But if you want those back, I would only take one and I would slot some endurance reduction on top of the KB to KD. I shuffled some slots around so that you would get the benefits earlier . . . or at all. For example, the Kismet +tohit only works when toggled and you can't attack in PFF, so you would never get the advantage. So I moved it up to Combat Jumping so that you get it much earlier and in a toggle that costs almost no endurance. I would probably do other stuff, but no time now. Also the updated build fixes the multiple stealth issue, and surprisingly whirlwind and repulsion field basically perma knockdown targets. Just tested this on the beta server. also timebomb explodes in 5 seconds not 15. Edited April 24, 2023 by hatybee
Nemu Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 It's a terrible build. Not because of the concept but because you didn't invest enough into doing damage with whatever tools you have left. Without your primary your ability to kill things will greatly depend on trip mine, taser, and gun drone. I would find ways to do more damage from pools and leverage procs if at all possible. Since you are skipping all your primary it gives you a great excuse to explore pool options other than fighting. And even after you took fighting/stealth your def is only at 25%, I'd see a reason to take those two if your goal is to hit 32.5% or softcap but if you aren't going to get there, there are more fun powers to take. You have 3 more attacks in the form of toxic dart, corrosive vial and repulsion bomb. Most of the long recharge powers are loaded with procs and there are plenty of force feedback procs to help them recharge faster, and that recharge bonus also helps trip mine, caltrops, time bomb and gun drone recharge faster. 1 Liberty, Torchbearer, Excelsior, Everlasting Jezebel Delias Level 50 Fire/Elec/Mace Blaster I am the Inner Circle!

Thank you Nemu!

Can that include tier 2s instead as well since you can pick from either?

Well, your only allowed one damage power from any primary. buffs are still fine like aim etc. either way your selection is kinda limited to the first 2 in any powerset Edited April 26, 2023 by hatybee

Thinking shatter from Seismic then since it not only has the best dpa for a Tier 2 but those Shockwaves can help a bit too. I'm assuming pool and epic attacks are allowed cause just / devices won't give you enough to do lol
BazookaTwo Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Just curious give an example of how you play this? I thought my ideas were far off the map.... 🙂
loyalreader Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Ok, this is a sick idea. And I love it. I see this as a gadget character so I'd choose Energy/Devices with Force Mastery as your APP. From your primary you would take Power Blast and Aim (I'd *really* be tempted to take Nova as an 'oh $%&t' power, but I respect the limitations you've put on this). Take everything from Devices. Fighting - Boxing, Tough, Weave. Speed - Hasten, and SuperSpeed Leadership - Maneuvers and Assault Leaping - Combat Jump, Super Jump, Acrobatics (you could sub Jump Kick for Super Jump for if you want an attack vs. the travel power... I hate SS for travel) Force Mastery - Personal FF, Temp Invulnerability... maybe Force of Nature as your 'oh $%&t' power Slot for as much recharge and defense as you can. For Power Blast I'd consider 6 Sudden Acceleration. For Taser 6 Stupefy. Caltrops gets 5 or 6 Ice Mistral Torment. Smoke Grenade 5 or 6 Dark Watcher's Despair. Weave gets 6 Reactive Defense while Maneuvers gets 5 Red Fortune and one LotG proc. Both Tough and Weave get 4 Unbreakable Guards. Also slot both defense procs and the Aegis proc there too. I'd 6-slot Targeting Drone with Gaussians. Combat Jump gets a LotG proc, as does Personal FF. Gun Drone gets Expedient Reinforcement. I'd be tempted to put the Blaster sets in Time Bomb and Trip Mine but haven't done the math. Basically you stealth in dropping Bombs and Mines. Gun Drone tanks for you and draws the enemy to your bombs. Then you do crowd control with Caltrops (slow), Smoke Grenade (to hit debuff), Power Blast (knockdown), and Taser (stun). Web Grenade immobilizes flyers. Would be a pain in the butt , but could be fun.

Maybe the one with the fire proc in time bomb is fine but you definitely need/want the kd-kd and the ff proc in trip mine. Edit: thinking about it too, you'd want the full winter set in time bomb if going for bonuses as well. As per being allowed to use on of the first two attacks in the primary, the tier 2 plus toxic webnade and taser make up a fairly decent enough ST chain too, would still suggest shatter since shatter is one of the best tier 2 DPA, plus using it will create shockwaves which will help you survive even better too. However thinking about the fix to gloom finally, that IS the best tier 2 dpa, so that would work well as your "only primary" attack too. But if you wanted to stay a little more on theme as well, AR fixing slug is also one of your best options having decent damage now, but also you can put a FF proc in that too to help recharge your other stuff. Shatter can allow for an achilles proc though so can help our your ST DPS more though as well. So I'd say as to which primary to choose, to go either seismic or AR. Not sure how you feel about storm blast's storm cell too, cause it's kinda not an attack on it's own. But if you would allow that into this test build, that would allow a good bit more damage and debuff to help out the /devices so that could be a consideration as well. Plus, going with hailstones which can also take a FF proc, that would extend the help on this build a good bit. I guess I would need to know the answer to these to pick which primary to go with between AR, seismic, or storm before doing the build, especially if storm cell is allowed. StrikerFox Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 I had a build with a similar concept during live. Had a couple builds for it. Softcap to S/L and a +32.5% to S/L/E. Built for +recharge to dump out as many Gun Drones as possible. Hasten, Burnout, Spiritual/Agility Alpha and Ageless Destiny. Often get 3 GD at the same time, when Burnout is used, get 4. Though they only overlap for 10s or so. Extra pet summon from the Ancillary/Epic pool.
