Missing something in my sets

Hello, folks.

I'm having a problem that I can't figure out.

I have 2x Blasters, one Storm/Atomic, one Energy/Atomic.

Both have the EXACT same secondary, ancillary, and epic power pool picks.

Both are slotted the EXACT same way.

While of course their primary powers are different, they are slotted the EXACT same way from top to bottom.

Yet my Energy Blaster has 168.5% Recharge but my Storm Blaster only has 126.5% Recharge <scratches head> I are confoosed...

Have you looked at their in-game base attributes?

Thank you, and my apologies, but I'm not sure I understand your question?

What attributes, and why would they be different? Do Energy Blasters get some inherent Recharge boost?

This might be more based on Atomic since that gives +recharge. I would make sure you are standing near an enemy and then click on Powers and then Combat Attributes and go from there.

Thank you.

Both characters are standing at the Trainer in Pergrine Isle, no enemies are near, only toggles are running, the same toggles. Even when I shut them down the Recharge rates display their same respective values; 168.5% vs 126.5%.

I will go through the combat attributes to see what, if anything, is different.

You don't have to search around in Combat Attributes.  Just bring up Base->Recharge and it should list everything currently affecting.  My guess would be an outside buff or temp you forgot you activated.  Mystic Fortune.  Secondary Mutation.  Random passing Kinetic with Speed Boost.  Could have been a lot of things.

Also do you have something auto-firing like Hasten on one but not another.

Babes of War - Excelsior - Di Di Guns, Runeslinger, Munitions Mistress, Tideway, Hard Melody, Blue Aria

Thank you, definitely not a random Kinetic running by... those values never change; in missions, or randomly fighting outside.

The Base Recharge is the attribute I'm monitoring... could be a temp buff maybe...  I'll dig into it more later...

So, here is a pic of my different Recharge values.

My Energy guy seems to be getting Recharge from 5 more sources than my Storm guy.

Again, both have the same powers, (other than Primary), and exact same enhancement sets, even in the Primary.

The attributes don't tell me the source of the Recharge, just size... so I'm at a loss.

Well, huh... Luck of the Gambler isn't showing for the Storm guy even though it's slotted in the exact same powers; Combat Jumping, Stealth, Infiltration, hover, and Evasive Manuvers.

Ok, slotted Luck of the Gambler; Global Recharge, so now he's at 133.75%

The other 4 LotG are also X/Recharge... so now THAT is the same, but the other LotG are not showing up in the Recharge monitor... at least I've got my starting point now.

Side note, if you want better captures of those attribute windows to compare:

- Open window so everything's visible.

- Use /screenshotui 1

- Take screenshot

You can turn the UI in the screenshot off after with /screenshotui 0

Much nicer than trying to deal with a camera and the screen. Just trim them down in Paint or whatnot to just the window.  Like so (though this isn't a CA window, works the same) -

I tried to combine Circle and DE, but all I got were garden variety evil mages.

I've quadruple checked, these are the same 5 LotG in the same powers, (4 of which say Recharge which I've highlighted), but they're not showing in the Storm guy's monitor <scratches head again>

Only the last one grants global +Recharge.  The other three only apply Recharge Reduction to the power in which they're slotted.

A HAH... I didn't realize that I could put the Global Recharge LotG into those 5 slots, I thought that I had to use different ones... so now I did that, and I'm now at 163.75% ... still 5% shy, but at least I'm closer now.

Replaced Superior Defiant Barrage with Sting of the Manticore, and now Storm guy is ahead at 171.25%

According to this page Superior Defiant Barrage set gives 10% Recharge speed, but Sting of the Manticore only gives 7.5%.

That was the only slotting difference between the two, but thought the Storm guy would be better... apparently I misunderstood something on this page.

Set bonuses are limited to 5 of any given category.  5 5% global +Rchg, for example (LotG Def/+global Rchg is in a separate category from other 7.5% global +Rchg bonuses, so you can have 5 of those and 5 other 7.5% bonuses).  You were over 5 on the 10% +Rchg bonuses, so it wasn't counted.

Thank you.

I know about the "Law of 5" but in the monitor it only showed 3x 10% ... unless one of those 20% displays was really just 2x 10% displaying as one value?

So, that's what was throwing me off... but obviously you are right and I was inadvertently breaking the Law of 5.

It does that every few seconds, collapsing bonuses into one displayed total, then expanding them to all contributing sources.  It's annoying.  Every part of the UI after release was hacked and tacked on, and parts of it, like Combat Attribs, have no polish at all.  Cryptic was never good at cleaning up the messes they made.

That Bio made me shoot coffee out my nose.  My Co-Workers were very vexed by my reaction.

Sigh. Again with the misinformation. You can receive up to five of each named bonus. "Luck of the Gambler:Recharge Speed" is a different name from the "Huge Recharge Bonus" in Sudden Acceleration, Kinetic Crash, or Mocking Beratement (and the six-slot PvP-only bonus for the PvP sets), even though they all give 7.5% to global recharge, so you can theoretically have five LotG bonuses and five of the others. Blood Mandate has amongst its set bonuses both a "Small Increased Fire/Cold/AoE Def Bonus" and a "Huge Increased AoE/Fire/Cold Def Bonus". Both of these provide 1.88% to Fire and Cold defense; however, since they have different names, they are separately subject to the Law of Fives, and a character can slot this set up to five times and get both copies of the 1.88% bonus up to five times each (assuming no other sets with the same bonuses).
