Arsenal/Trick Arrow

I have found this to be quite a strong and powerful concept, even with the limit built in defenses. The amount of -to hit that Flash Arrow and Smoke Grenade allow from stacking is universally effective. Oil Slick Arrow and Enflame provide a solid base for AoE. Mace was taken to continue stacking debuffs in both the AoE and Single Target chains. This build also features Fold Space for ease of play.

Self Target Sleep Grenade, Disruption Arrow and Smoke Grenade. Flash Arrow mob from a distance, then fold space into your control cloud. Follow up with Flash Bang and Disruptor Blast, lock down remaining bosses with Ice Arrow and Cryo Freeze ray to start ST chain, including Poison Ray and Arcane Bolt.

Nice! I too am working up an AC/TA Controller and am excited about the amount of "danger zone" that the combo puts out.

Do we know if the Oil from Oil Slick Arrow can be ignited by fire and energy? Flashbang and EMP Arrow may be able to ignite the slick if so (I can't quite make heads or tails of the city of data info the various oil slick entities).

Either way, I was beside myself with joy to see my character with a bow, a quiver, and a rifle hanging off his back 🙂

The Flashbang does ignite it but I have not tested the EMP. You can always swap for one of the origin powers like the Taser Dart thingy to ignite OSA as a back up.

I did not include EMP in my build, but yes

Flashbang certainly ignites it as will any if the fire or energy procs. Because of the way I target my oil slick and enflame, that normally does the lighting for me.

I too have a quiver, bow and a rifle all hanging off my back, though the rifle (I use the M4 with the 203 hanging off the bottom) kinda hides behind the quiver, for which I use the new off to the side one.

oil slick does indeed ignite with fire and energy. in fact i use the magic origin apprentice charm to light it, if i have a /TA that does not have a fire/engergy power. i have a macro to target the oil slick and fire off the apprentice charm to light it. just click twice, once to target and once to fire off the charm

That's how I do it.

Mystic Bolt (is that the right name?) also lights it, if you're into Sorcery.

I cannot recommend the Sorcery Pool more strongly...Arcane Bolt is a great power that benefits from containment, and has an internal mechanic that can both provide an instant recharge and extra damage.

Thank you everyone! I slotted my oil slick arrow with Bombardment, including the Fire damage proc. We'll see if that creates a (randomly timed) auto-igniting slick.

Also, I'll plan on getting Reactive Radial Interface so that most damaging powers have a chance to set the slick on fire.

Last night on Indom, I was able to take part in a Nemesis invasion, and I have to say I'm very pleased with AC/TA for causing a lot of hard times for the bad guys! I just targeted through my Tri-Cannon and dropped clouds and patches anywhere it looked.

I've seen others say they've got this to work a long time ago. I have never gotten it to work, for what it's worth.

I have never gotten the slick to ignite with its own proc, always with a follow up proc. I ran a series of Tactical Arrow Blasters for the experience with their version of oil slick, and never once got this to occur.

i am wondering if it would not proc and ignite because it takes 1.15 seconds to cast oil slick and the proc fires off at cast. that would explain why others have not had it work. 🙂

I think the bombardment proc in Oil Slick Arrow itself doesn't work, or at least hasn't in any of the times I've tested. I swapped out the proc IO for Damage/Recharge with no regrets.

However, the energy damage from the Energy Font from the Controller ATO sets it off reliably, and it's funny to watch the glowing spirit ball zipping into the group you have on the patch like that orc with the torch at Helm's Deep 🙂

Also, the fire proc from Reactive Interface works as well.

It won't for a good reason. Procs only trigger in pseudopets when they use a power which would trigger the proc.

Bombardment is a damage set, the oil slick doesn't do damage so no proc check. If there was some kB proc which did fire or energy damage itd could. But even then because Oil Slick counts as a "patch" power and patch powers are essentially an invisible pseudo pet with an aura you're looking at "test once every 10 seconds with the recharge locked at 10 seconds" against a big AoE.

It's why I don't rate procs in things like Slick, freezing rain, tar patch, caltrops or other Rains. They just don't go off often enough.

i made one last night before I saw this and discovered it was impossible to kill as a positron 1 clone. It took 4 tries just to kill my single character because no one could see. Whoops, sorry team! So if anyone thinks to make one, ask for their character to be killed first (preferably blinded before hand) or you are going to be in for a really bad time.

I wrote a parser pretty much for that reason. You can run a couple of radios solo *8, upload the combat log and see where it ends up overall in terms of damage. For me it didn't seem worth the slots but happy to be corrected. I like procs and the build options & tricks they can provide. More choices is always good.

I ran into this problem on the Army of Me fight villain side...I am sorry for your team wipe, but it is pretty funny when you think about it, getting a taste of your own medicine.

i made one last night before I saw this and discovered it was impossible to kill as a positron 1 clone. It took 4 tries just to kill my single character because no one could see. Whoops, sorry team! So if anyone thinks to make one, ask for their character to be killed first (preferably blinded before hand) or you are going to be in for a really bad time.

I rolled one of these today and put together a Posi 1....this is exactly correct. It took us 3 times to kill our clones because of blindness 🙂 -- I apologized profusely lol. I am thoroughly enjoying this combo.../TA really is one of my all-time favorite debuff sets and they really work well together. Just got to 24 after running DFB, Hollows, and Posi 1&2, and I feel like I'm contributing to teams.

On another note: Was there ever discussion about Arsenal Control potentially using other weapons? I feel like all of its powers could also be shot by a Bow. With little Dev effort, I think many of the TA or Archery animations could be re-used. I feel like this is a missed opportunity and would make more people use this set if they didn't have to swap between weapons. But just a small critique.

Hate double posting, but don't want to start another post for this set - this combo feels almost as controller-y as my Earth/Storm. I have to say, I really thought I would miss having an AoE immobilize (and I do, but its very workable) but it doesn't really affect the effectiveness of the combo. /TA brings so much extra support, control, and debuffs. I just hit 32 and feel very comfortable managing multiple mobs.

I know some people hate having so many location-targeted AoEs, but I love the fact that I can place almost every power where I want it and don't have to try and find the most center mob. /TA is one of the best secondary controller sets, I know that, but I didn't expect to like Arsenal/ as much as I do (having read the beta forums, I expected the utmost misery). Is Arsenal perfect, no! And maybe I'm biased with having chosen /TA, because it offers so much debuff and extra control, but I don't ever feel like I am lacking. Is there an extra mob...BOOM...I have arrows or grenades for it.

This is a solid control combo. If I had to be honest, I rarely use the AOE knockdown power (maybe cause I now also have Oil Slick Arrow, which is much better anyways) and wouldn't mind if it was replaced with an AoE web grenade. But, overall, I do like this combo.
