FateWeaver Posted July 31 Posted July 31 I am fairly ignorant when it comes to in-game mechanics and making powerful builds has never been on the top of my to-do list. I normally build for RP or just a cool/fun concept. However with Marine my curiousity got peaked, with that I know storm is a fairly weak blast set right now (from what Im told) along with being slower, and Marine also looks like it needs time to ramp up. Will this powerset combo even be decently playable? I play primarily solo but do enjoying teaming when I find that option available. I'm not really sure how to properly ask what I'm thinking, I don't care if it's an epic super powered combo but I would like some opinions or facts on how strong it will be, how well it will play, any major weaknesses or strengths i guess. Thank you in advance.
Psyonico Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Marine is a great set, the only "build up time" is gaining shifting tides stacks. Solo this will be a little slower because you have to cast ST on enemies rather than an ally which can just hold on to it. I think the set is still a little too new to say much more about. What this team needs is more Defenders
terrasmash Posted July 31 Posted July 31 I have water blast/Marine Infinity corrupter it's very unique I was happily able to get into a fire farm so I started truly playing the character at level 32 which looking at it now barrier reef is a complete game changer for that set it's super useful cuz it gives you an ally for the other powers. My set is very clicky. MA is a debuff/buff set with that you can cover the map with dbuff or stack on top. With the tide pool active you pretty much almost make them continually cc'd if you stack them. Idk storm but looking at the powers it's similar to WB. Just got mange endurance that's my prob most of the time.

Barrier Reef counts as a pet and can "'HOLD"' the SHIFTING TIDES toggle. That should help with speed. 1 1
honoroit Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Hi! It's me, Figs, so far I'm enjoying the storm / marine powerset combination on corruptor. a real standout is whitecap! some people don't like it, I sure do. (Targeted AoE, Minor DMG(Cold), Foe Knockdown, -Resist(All), Self Teleport, Special) an aoe damage (so procs), knockdown (so force feedback for recharge boost), res down, teleport!, and ludicrously quick to cast. I love everything about this power. i dont know about the final one yet - but whitecap sets you up for melee team member exposure. I'm in two minds about shoal rush - its up again base before it expires (15s recharge, 20s debuff unmodified). I don't know if it can stack with itself from the same player... but it feels like a poison powerset skill, and is a quick 15ft ranged aoe to soften harder targets defense. another one great in teams. torroidal bubble is just good, its like 'fade' but with res, and grants recovery. I think storm pairs well with a diverse support secondary like marine on corruptor. Its my first real storm blast character, so I'm still figuring it. I don't mind the 'not like other blasters' feel of it... its like being a better controller damage wise on a corruptor so far, in feel at least. jet stream is good - because of the repel, though requires the player to be aware of positioning for a team. That compliments the heal well, it's like nature - must aim directionally cone. you end up moving about a lot, and thinking about group layout as you might with control sets. I like the combo enough that my character, Scipio Lucaria, is a definite 'do not /respec and reclaim the enhancements'. -- Figs, powerset expert 2
wednesdaywoe Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Marine and Storm Blast work really well together. I did a video on it recently--it was a Defender in the video, but it applies to Corrs as well. Storm adds a lot of damage mitigation from KD and terrify, on top of the debuffs and KD that Marine brings. The only catch is that you have a lot of powers that have to be placed, and in a fast-moving group you're not going to have the time to set up all your stuff. But it's a solo monster. One of the strongest pairings that I have on my roster of Defenders and Corrs. Also, and this is huge: you will look amazing. 2 Builds, leveling, and general vulgarity: https://www.youtube.com/@wednesdaywoeplays

Marine is also a bit of a set up powerset and works well with Storm Blast. My Corr version of this is at level 24 right now and is fun. I also have a 50 storm/storm CORR and that toon is potent. It can clear the walls in Cim no problem and has a lot of mitigation for attackers. I have a quick recharge so you can be on the move. I know a lot of teams like to blitz missions but that gets dull. I like challenging content and this toon is good for pretty much everything. Even when mezzed, you have your storms going and they protect you if you are in 'zzzzzzzzzzzz' mode.
boss Posted August 20 Posted August 20 I'm going to try a storm/Marine and an Ice/Marine to see how things go.
tidge Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Storm is a relatively slower moving set for Blasters (relative to other Blaster sets that don't have a "place the thing here" aspect) but it is not IMO a set to sleep on for other ATs. The biggest issue I foresee with a Storm/Marine is trying to make sure all the cool powers are taken! I wouldn't be surprised if a Storm/Marine build only had one non-primary/non-secondary power pick before level 32. A Storm/Marine Corruptor ought to solo quite well, and could probably turn up spawn sizes rather early in the career if desired. Storm is a very "controlly" set. One advantage I see for a Storm/Marine Corruptor on teams is that the Marine Affinity can be very team-friendly, so if those team-friendly powers are taken and well-slotted, teammates may not notice that the Storm powers aren't always being used at 90%+ efficiency. 1
